Chapter 297 Rock's Perception
"Mommy! Can't you reconsider this decision? It's too sudden. I, I can't bear to be away from you."
Of course, this was also the truth in Sidney's heart. He had just recognized his mommy one-sidedly and it was precious to see her only twice.
Winnie looked at 'Oscar' who suddenly hugged her thigh and was stunned.
Winnie took a deep breath and walked towards the bedroom, determined to ensure his safety.
"Oscar, mommy will pack your luggage for you. Actually, you won't be gone for long. Life abroad suits you better."
Sidney had never been abroad, and he was truly anxious.
Seeing mommy taking out the suitcases, he quickly made up an excuse, "Ah, I have a headache!"
He fell to the ground while clutching his stomach.
"Oscar?" Rock was surprised and worried, but he saw the little guy open one eye and sneak a glance at Winnie.
Rock's mouth twitched, understanding what was going on.
"Oscar! What's wrong with you?" Winnie rushed over, completely unaware.
"My head, it hurts so much... like I'm dying..." Sidney acted with a pained expression.
He tightly clutched his stomach.
Winnie became a little confused and anxious, "Are you having a headache or a stomachache, son?"
"..." Damn, lying is really hard. I covered the wrong place.
Proud Sidney awkwardly moved his hand to his forehead and finally decided, "It's still a headache!"
"It couldn't be an illness, right?" Winnie muttered, her slender fingers quickly reaching for her son's pulse.
After a few seconds, the woman's expression changed. She looked serious. Rock, who squatted down beside her, raised an eyebrow and coughed.
When Sidney saw Mom touching his wrist for a long time without saying a word, and that 'rival' was still coughing incessantly, he couldn't figure out the situation and couldn't help but open one slightly squinted eye.
"Stop pretending." Winnie's face turned helpless and dark.
What? Did Mom find out?
Sidney immediately closed his eyes tightly and didn't move.
"Oscar—" Winnie rolled her eyes, gently sitting her son upright, and sighed helplessly, "You're pretending to be sick to avoid going abroad with Mommy? Your tricks used to be more sophisticated than this."
Sidney's face froze, he was actually seen through and mocked by Mom.
Was he really that inferior to Oscar?
With a slight pout at the corner of his mouth, he decided to hold on till the end.
"You're being unfair, aren't you?" Winnie sighed in frustration, Oscar was not this disobedient.
Rock stared at 'Oscar' with a deep gaze and burst out a muffled laugh, "Indeed, it's not like Oscar's usual style. Normally, he'd be eloquent and fluently arguing by now. But boys have their pride, Winnie."
He gave her a look, signaling her not to poke at the child's self-esteem.
Winnie softened her tone in helplessness, "Do you really not want to leave Mommy that much?"
"Uh." The little one on the ground finally uttered a low and cold voice.
Rock contemplated for a moment and said, "Since the child doesn't want to go, it would be uneasy for you to send him. Besides, have you considered that in M country, there's only Lena and an elderly George. If Lawrence R tracks down their location and quietly takes Oscar away, it would be even harder for you to find him when you're far away."
Winnie tightened her fingers slightly; she was very nervous and impulsive just now. The possibility Rock mentioned is not nonexistent!
Lawrence R is capable of anything.
She looked down and thought about her son in her arms, caught between a rock and a hard place, unsure of what to do.
Sidney also tugged on Mommy's sleeve, threateningly saying, "If Dad hides me somewhere abroad, Mommy, you'll never see me again."
"He dares!" Winnie gritted her teeth with hatred, but her face showed anxiety.
Rock sighed and comforted her, "Winnie, why don't I assign more people to protect Oscar? You keep the child by your side and see if there's any movement from his side. If he decides to fight for custody, don't forget, it's you who raised the child for the past three years… when Lawrence R. just…"
Winnie looked over, pleading for him not to talk about how Oscar's father abandoned him in front of the child.
No matter how bad Lawrence R is, she still hopes that Oscar's father remains 'perfect' in his heart.
Rock nodded lightly, stood up, and put away their luggage, volunteering, "You and the child must be tired. Don't worry, I'm here for everything. I'll go make lunch for you!"
After an anxious experience, Winnie felt quite exhausted. "Thank you for your help, Rock, I really appreciate it."
The man affectionately tousled the woman's hair. "Oscar, spend some time with your mommy!"
Sidney looked at the man thoughtfully.
Once his mommy's mood improved a bit, the little one snuck into the kitchen.
Rock turned his head and saw him come in, smiling gently. "Why, are you hungry?"
Sidney held onto his small arms and coolly assessed the man before speaking sharply, "Uncle Rock, don't think that I don't know. Just now, it seemed like you were speaking up for me, but in reality, you only wanted to convince my mommy to stay in the country for a long time. If I go to country M, she'll have to travel between countries frequently. Do you really think you can chase after her?"
Rock raised his eyes in surprise, his eyelids twitching. He believed Oscar had this insight, but Oscar had high emotional intelligence and wouldn't say it out loud. Oscar was very polite to him. But this 'Oscar' in front of him was cold and blunt.
Rock generously admitted, "Yes, I want to pursue your mommy. I've liked her for a very long time, Oscar, I believe you know my intentions."
"I didn't know—" Sidney snorted and decided to issue a warning to this man on behalf of his daddy, "My daddy and mommy are only temporarily separated, they will consider me and eventually form a family. Being a home-wrecker isn't a good thing, you know. Stop pretending, my daddy can cook too! You can't win over my mommy, otherwise why hasn't she agreed to be with you after all this time?"
Sidney's tone was icy, extremely sharp. That hostility caused Rock to furrow his brows, his serious face not looking too pleasant.
Sidney folded his arms, thinking to himself, hmph, the truth is out now.
Rock observed 'Oscar' for a long time, his gaze peculiar, and suddenly walked over, looming over the little one.
His eyes seemed to be smiling, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.
With a quirked lip, Rock asked strangely, "Oscar, are you really Oscar?"
Sidney paused, freezing like a startled little tiger, a strong front he put up.
The man's composed gaze concealed sharpness, surrounding him like a weak, small prey.
Being younger, Sidney hesitated for a moment, feeling as if he had crashed, tightly clenching his small fist and asserting forcefully, "Of course, who else would I be if not Oscar!"
After bluffing, he ran out with a cold face.
Rock's gaze flickered faintly, slowly straightening up.
Oscar didn't have such an arrogant and cold personality.
By all accounts, today was the first time Oscar met his daddy, so how would he know that 'my daddy can cook'? This little one called him 'daddy' so naturally.
Winnie, as a mother, might be slow to catch on, but as an outsider, he had always felt that something was off!
Are they really just two children?
