Chapter 140 Darcy's Suicide

Winnie: "You have a meeting later, right?"

"Yes, I'm sorry I can't go and pick him up with you, but I can arrange the best lunch." L gave his response.

After he finished speaking, he picked up a document, took long strides, walked past her, grabbed her slender waist with his big hand, adjusted his meticulously neat tie, and headed towards the meeting room. "See you at noon."

Winnie pursed her lips, and quickly went back to her office to change clothes, she grabbed her car keys, and personally drove to Lymington International Airport.

At the entrance of the meeting room, Luke suddenly walked up to L's side and said, "Mr. L, there is an important piece of news you need to hear."

L turned and walked to the side.

In a low voice, Luke said, "Mr. L, it seems that Alan has secretly returned to the country! It happened today, and no one has mentioned it. There has been no movement from the Rodriguez family either..."

"Is the information reliable?" L's face turned icy and stern.

Luke hesitated, "It's not certain yet."

"Go and investigate, keep an eye on him!" L ordered Luke.

Seeing Mr. L's frigid gaze, Luke understood clearly that Mr. L had severed ties with the Ordelia family and now openly confronted the Rodriguez family.

Alan's return to the country at this time was definitely not a good sign. Mrs. Rodriguez and her son have coveted the Imperial Group for a long time.

At exactly Quarter past twelve.

Winnie waited at the airport. After ten years, her memories of her uncle's face had become somewhat blurred, so she held up the sign high.
Behind the crowd at the exit, there was a wheelchair with a thin man sitting on it. He looked towards Winnie.

In that instant, Winnie almost froze. She recognized that it was her uncle's face, but his left side was partially obscured by hair. And why was he sitting in a wheelchair?

Her eyes flickered for a moment, and she called out, "Uncle!"

Just then, behind her uncle, there was a remarkable figure. He was dressed in a navy-blue suit, slim and handsome. It seemed like he had just finished talking to her uncle, but they quickly separated, and he walked in the opposite direction.

Winnie caught a glimpse of his face, which exuded a sinister aura from the side. He looked quite young. As he exited through another gate and got into a car, Winnie squinted at him for a moment.

Who was this man? She wondered.

"Winnie!" Her uncle was already being pushed towards her by his assistant.

Winnie snapped back to her senses, lowered her gaze, and saw her uncle in the wheelchair. When she saw the scarred and grotesque left side of his face blocked by hair, Winnie shuddered violently.

Her throat felt heavy, as if it were filled with lead. She opened her mouth, crouched down, and her eyes turned red. "Uncle, how did this happen to you?"

"It's been ten years." Her uncle shook his head at her and gently touched the legs beneath the thin blanket. Winnie saw that they were empty, and tears welled up in her eyes.

"Winnie, don't cry. We're finally reunited, aren't we?" Elliott tightly held her hand. "Let's Get in first." Winnie hastily looked at the onlookers and quickly opened her own car door.

The assistant supported Elliott into the car and went around to the front to take the driver's seat.

Winnie sat in the backseat, sitting next to her uncle, while Elliott's gaze fell on her slightly protruding belly under her sweater.

His eyebrows furrowed, and he smiled with some surprise. "Winnie, we didn't discuss it in detail on the phone that day. Are you pregnant and married?"

Winnie steadied her emotions, showing a slight smile, and shyly nodded. "Uncle, I didn't have a chance to tell you."
"You've grown up, and it's only natural to start a family. This is a good thing." Elliott held her hand with satisfaction. "Who is it?"

Speaking of this, Winnie felt a bit shy. She still didn't know L's identity. "Uncle, I'm about to introduce you to him. He is the CEO of a real estate company. You'll see when you meet him. I... really like him, and I hope you can approve of him too."

Hearing that he is a real estate CEO, Elliott didn't think much and nodded. "Uncle is happy for you, let's go and meet him!"

With that approval, Winnie breathed a sigh of relief and immediately sent a message to L. He gave her the address, Lymington International Hotel.

Winnie took her uncle to the luxurious and low-key restaurant. As they entered the second floor, a tall man was waiting near the private room by the window. He wore a black formal suit, tucked in with a slim tie. The contours revealed under his mask were handsome and calm.

He exuded nobility, without any signs of nervousness.

Winnie, on the other hand, was very nervous. Pushing her uncle forward, she stood by his side and introduced with a smile, "L, this is my uncle, Elliott."

"Uncle, he is my love." Her voice trembled with shyness.

L glanced over and in that instant, Winnie felt her uncle's wheelchair suddenly move.

She lowered her head in confusion and saw her uncle tightly gripping the armrest. The left side of his face, covered by his hair, seemed to turn pale.

L looked at the man in the wheelchair and the scar on his face, hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickered slightly but showed no significant change. Gracefully, he extended his hand. "Mr. Granger, nice to meet you."

He reached out, but Elliott didn't shake his hand for a long time. Feeling awkward, Winnie bowed her head and noticed her uncle staring at L's mask.

"Uncle, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" She remembered that her uncle had just returned after half a month of treatment, so there was reason to worry after his health.

"Hmm." At this moment, Elliott finally spoke, his voice calm as if he was gritting his teeth. "Winnie, push me in."

L immediately withdrew his hand and said, "Allow me."

L pushed Elliott inside, and Winnie seemed to notice her uncle's hand trembling. L sat opposite, no longer scrutinizing Elliott. He maintained a polite distance and began ordering.

Just then, his phone suddenly rang.

L handed the menu to Winnie, his gaze showing gentleness as he motioned for her to order while he listened to the person on the other end of the phone.

But in the next instant, his face...

His expression changed and his overbearing figure stood up, "What did you say? Darcy, how could she..." Winnie furrowed her brows and looked up upon hearing Darcy's name.

Suddenly, the private room door was pushed open, and Ray stormed in holding his phone. He scanned the room, spotted Winnie, and his brows furrowed. He strode over to L's side and angrily grabbed the man's collar, disregarding the presence of others as he cursed,

"You bastard, did you force Darcy to date that guy? She obediently listened to you and ended up being assaulted. Now she's in the hospital, dying by suicide. Can you face Darcy's family, the Ordelia family, if she dies?"

L's face immediately turned cold. It was Ray who had called him on the phone, prompting him to come here directly. L hadn't expected this turn of events. Furrowing his brows tightly, he turned his head towards Winnie with a dark, anxious look in his eyes,

"I need to step out for a moment, Winnie. Luke will come soon."

Upon hearing that Darcy was assaulted and attempted suicide, Winnie was also shocked. However, a cold smile appeared at the corner of her eyes. Darcy hadn't given up on L at all.

How could she bear to commit suicide? Most likely, this was...

"But L, my uncle is still here..." Winnie furrowed her brows.

Ray scoffed, "Darcy is on the verge of death, and you, woman, have no sympathy! L, come with me to Ystad Hospital. She wants to see you!"

L didn't look at Winnie again. With a furrowed brow, he hastily left with Ray.

Winnie felt suffocated in her heart as she watched his cold and stern figure. She took a deep breath, lowered her head, and intended to explain a few words to her uncle.

But when she bent down, she noticed her uncle's face was as pale as paper, his teeth were clenched tightly, and he looked at her with intense gasping before suddenly fainting.
"Uncle? What's wrong with you!" Winnie was at a loss, and she immediately pinched his pressure point, not knowing what had happened to her uncle. She shouted, "Manager, call an ambulance!"
