Chapter 664 Melissa Takes Care of Bob

"It's fine. I'll crash in the guest room," Rock said, trying to keep things easy for her.

Winnie felt a wave of relief and nodded slightly. "Thanks for understanding, Rock."

"But, Winnie, you can't just spend all your time with the kids and none with me."

Rock chuckled, wrapping an arm around her and giving her a playful wink. "You know, I'm a normal guy too. Don't make me wait forever, okay?"

"I... okay, Rock."

Winnie was almost speechless, her cheeks turning a deep shade of red.

Rock noticed her blush and mistook it for shyness.

He couldn't resist and leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Winnie."

Winnie's body tensed even more, and she instinctively lowered her head to avoid him.

As his breath got closer, she tried to relax but stayed tense. Suddenly, she thought of Lawrence's scent—warm, assertive, and fresh, unlike Rock's cologne.

Her chest tightened. 'Why was I thinking of Lawrence now? Was it because I hadn't been close to Rock before we got married? Or was it because I'd spent so much time with Lawrence, who loved to kiss and hold me, that I was used to his scent?'

The thought made her shiver.

She couldn't keep getting distracted like this.

"Winnie, it feels so good to hold you." Rock sensed her stiffness and decided not to push further.

He loosened his grip a bit and changed the subject. "By the way, when are you going to the police station? The case of Lawrence kidnapping you is still open. The police contacted me about it yesterday."

Winnie hesitated, feeling conflicted. Bryan's words had hit home.

She didn't want to hurt the kids' feelings too much.

But now, being remarried with kids and having to face Rock was really stressful.

After gathering her thoughts, Winnie finally looked up. "Rock, I'm sorry. I can't agree to the lawsuit. Sidney's registration is with the Rodriguez family. If Lawrence goes to jail, it will affect him a lot in the future. Plus, even though the boys don't say it, they still have feelings for Lawrence. If I push too hard, it'll hurt their innocent hearts. I'm afraid people will call their dad a kidnapper."

Rock's gentle face darkened as he listened to her.

His tone changed abruptly. "Winnie, all you think about is your sons. But have you thought about me? If you don't accuse him, what will people say about us? They'll say you were willing to be with Lawrence while married, and they'll call you a whore, shameless, disgracing your husband. They'll think you can't forget Lawrence, and my reputation will be ruined! How can I keep my self-respect? No matter how successful I am, people will always mock me behind my back. Have you ever considered my feelings?"

Hearing his angry voice and sensing his hidden rage, Winnie, who rarely saw Rock so upset, felt inexplicably fearful and lost. "I did consider you, that's why I agreed before. But I didn't think about the kids, Rock. I'm sorry, can you think about them?"

"Winnie, that's a weak excuse. Are you still hung up on Lawrence?"

Rock's anger turned into hurt. "My biggest worry isn't what happened between you and Lawrence this past month, but that he might have won your heart again. Do all women have a masochistic streak? No matter how much I do for you, you always put me last. Am I that unimportant to you?"

"No." Winnie shook her head.

Rock looked at her, his eyes cold, then turned and left the villa with a bitter smile.

"Winnie, what's wrong?"

Olivia heard the argument and came out to see Rock leaving.

"Why did he leave? He seemed really angry. What did you talk about?"

Winnie stood there, frowning slightly, and said in a low voice, "Olivia, don't tell Uncle Elliott."

"But..."

"Let's go inside. I'll tell you later."

Olivia didn't dare ask more and quickly led Mia inside.

Winnie looked at the porch light, its glow faintly white, a trace of inexplicable fatigue showing in her eyes.

In the hospital, Bob woke up from danger.

He saw a gentle figure by his bed, someone who had appeared more than once these days.

She wiped his sweat, massaged his fingers, consistently inquired about his condition from the doctor, and when changing his clothes, her movements seemed somewhat awkward and rigid, avoiding direct eye contact with him.

He never knew who it was.

At this moment, he opened his eyes hazily and heard her voice, "Miss, Mr. Rodriguez will have spasms at 2 AM. Make sure to help him stretch his muscles. He's been lying down for almost a week, and I'm afraid his muscles will atrophy."

"Mrs. Clark, haven't you been quietly staying with Mr. Rodriguez these nights? I see you're very worried about him, staying up all night. Even the doctor said it's thanks to your care that Mr. Rodriguez's condition isn't worse. Do you have something to do tonight?"

"No."

Melissa silently glanced at the handsome man on the bed, gently straightenhis sleeve. "I just heard Lawrence will visit him tonight. Don't tell him I was here. If Mr. Bob Rodriguez wakes up, don't mention me either."

The nurse didn't quite understand, only knowing that Mrs. Clark was Lawrence's mother, and Lawrence was Mr. Rodriguez's son, which was a bit complicated.

The nurse nodded. "Okay, Mrs. Clark, I won't say anything."

In Bob's blurry vision, that figure walked towards the door, getting farther away.

He seemed to see her delicate profile but closed his eyes weakly because of his heavy head.

Twenty minutes after Melissa left, Lawrence appeared in the hospital corridor.

A bodyguard reported to him, "Mrs. Clark just left. She's been taking care of Mr. Rodriguez these past few days, but she doesn't want you to know."

Lawrence was stunned, his brows furrowing. 'Melissa had been secretly taking care of Bob?'
