Chapter 131 A job offer at Kingdom Estate

In the midst of the cold winter, he looked exhausted, taking off his handmade leather shoes and loosening his tie with slender fingers. There were traces of red veins in his eyes.

Winnie stood up, staring blankly at his imposing figure.

Suddenly, she rushed towards him, her hands circling his sturdy and cold waist, and anxiously asked, "How was it? Did your family put a lot of pressure on you?"

The man remained silent and grasped her chin. Their eyes met, his narrow gaze sharp, cold, and profound.

Suddenly, he pinched her delicate lips and kissed her passionately.

Forced to tilt her head back, he kissed her forcefully, his passion mixed with his masculinity and the captivating scent of tobacco, pressing her against the wall in an instant.
The clothes rack in the closet fell to the ground, making some noise with other scattered items.

For a long time, their breaths intermingled as they gasped. With bloodshot eyes, he tightly held her hand and only loosened his thin lips slightly.

Still pressing her against the cabinet, her body soft and enchanting, he became captivated by her.

L locked onto her, squeezing her delicate cheeks and examining her, as if trying to see into her soul. He raised a brow lightly and said, "I hope you're worth it."

"...Bang." something hit the side table hard.

Winnie's heart pounded. Winnie's heart was slammed by this weak remark, banging against her chest. The blood began to warm as if it had been lifted.

The Kingdom Estates' plaque, her heart thumped, "What's this?"

"You mentioned last night that you wanted to become my capable assistant, so here's your opportunity." The man's long legs stepped forward, and the silver mask accentuated his handsome face. His deep voice was low and proud.

Winnie was surprised, looking into his profound eyes, wondering if he had misunderstood something.

She awkwardly waved her hand, "L, my words last night didn't mean that I wanted to join your company. I just wanted to say that you don't have to lament losing Darcy. I am capable of helping you and becoming a woman who can assist you."

L saw the stubbornness in her eyes. The man's deep voice slid smoothly as he leaned close to her ear, "Hmm, I saw your capability last night."

Last night... in the bathroom? Winnie suddenly understood, and her face turned red.
Annoyed, she glared at him, this man who was occasionally unserious.

L reached out with his strong arm, pinched her earlobe, placed his large hand on her small shoulder, slightly pulling her closer. He regained his serious expression and said in a low voice, "Letting you join the company is a small gesture of sincerity. Weren't you complaining that I don't care enough about you?"

When he doted on a woman, he did it generously and ostentatiously. Winnie was delighted in her heart but still shook her head, "I truly have no intention of joining your company. And by showcasing me like this, your family..." Winnie trailed off before finishing.

A coldness flickered in L's deep eyes, that was precisely his intention.

He had already risked everything for her, so why not elevate her to the public eye? The more dangerous it appeared, the safer she would be. L thought to himself. Give her status, and those people from the Rodriguez family would perhaps be wary and not easily harm her.

The depth of a man's thoughts might not be understood by a woman. He squeezed her chin and said, "Take some time to think about it. If you genuinely want to help me, then come. Show me your business acumen while you're at it."

His lofty and low voice was clearly mocking. He really didn't recognize any business acumen in her.

Winnie pouted; her hand already held by him as they got into the car. Triton Company was located on the east side of downtown. Luke stopped the car, letting her out first. Winnie turned her head and bid him farewell.

The man repeated his words, "Think it over. I'll be at the Kingdom Estates this morning and can introduce you to the job."

He curled his lips slightly, with a hint of ambiguity. Placing his wife in his own company, introducing her to work... Was this really the best way forward L continued to Question himself.

Winnie blushed and tucked her eyebrows, "I should go now."

But as soon as she stepped into Triton, her phone rang. Winnie glanced down and saw an unfamiliar number. She answered and heard Darcy's voice on the other end, "Winnie, thanks to you, I'm going to the branch office today. Let's meet and I have a few things to talk about."

Winnie refused, "There's no need."

"About L, don't you want to know?" Darcy immediately sneered. Winnie frowned feeling once again the presence of secretes in her relationship, she hesitated for a moment, but eventually agreed.

In a café, Darcy sat in the corner under a warm lamp. As she watched Winnie approach, her eyes were cold and full of hatred, the object of which was Winnie.

The kind of hatred that would last forever or until Darcy had revenge, it was as though she wanted to harm Winnie for life and would even be satisfied with taking Winnie’s life.

Winnie had never seen such a devouring gaze before, and she no longer pretended. Fearlessly, she sat down gracefully.

Darcy loathed Winnie's triumphant posture and coldly remarked, "I didn't expect you to be shameless enough to endure the mistress label and cling to L. So, you plan to take me on, huh?"

"Yes," Winnie unabashedly responded, her gaze filled with coldness. "It was you who instigated Mr. Martin to talk to me about his engagement. Mr. Martin might not have known he was being used, and L might not either, but I do. You were certain that I couldn't handle it and would back down. Even if I did, you wouldn't let me off easily. So why not claim this man for myself?"

Darcy clenched her fist secretly and sneered suddenly, "Your victory won't last long, so don't get too cocky, Winnie. Let me tell you, Mr. L has someone in his heart."

Winnie paused for a moment, with a cold and disbelieving expression.

Leaning forward, Darcy smiled meaningfully, "It's his lifesaver, she is concealed deep within L's heart."

"He only has a physical need for you." Darcy said whilst mocking Winnie.

"And besides, you and him won't last long," Darcy thought of her mother's words, her teasing laughter full of significance.

That smile and statement furrowed Winnie's brow. What did Darcy mean? It seemed like she knew something.

Confused, Winnie swiftly cleared her thoughts. She couldn't let herself be manipulated by Darcy. "Miss Ordelia is leaving and trying to make her final move here. But sorry, your Mr. L cherishes me. He gave me your position as the Vice President of Kingdom Estates."

Winnie took out the plaque that read 'Vice President of Kingdom Estates' and placed it on the table.

Darcy's gaze froze, clearly caught off guard that L had let her into the company!

That despicable woman...

She tightly clenched her fist, concealing the blow to her pride, and abruptly stood up, sneering at Winnie, "Do you think that by entering his company, you can completely possess him? Winnie, you won't have a good time at Kingdom Estates. Let's see how it goes."

Darcy picked up her bag and ticket, and left.

Winnie coldly frowned, staring at her silhouette as she left.
There seemed to be a lot of information conveyed in that statement, maybe it was an unintended revelation caused by her anger.

Staring at the plaque, Winnie suddenly clenched it in her hand. She knew for sure that Darcy had influence scattered throughout Kingdom Estates.

She didn't want to involve herself in L's company, for fear that he would suspect her motives.

But now, it seemed that if she didn't enter and sever Darcy's influence, relying on these connections, she would soon return to Kingdom Estates.

Darcy had a way!

In order to defend her own feelings, Winnie seemed to have no choice but to go to Kingdom Estates...
