Chapter 886 Confessing to Winnie
"Jeremy! Bryan has been looking for you all day." Lawrence strode in.
Jeremy turned around, glanced at Lawrence and Winnie, and walked straight past Lawrence out the door.
The room was too cold! So cold that Winnie was startled. She quickly ran to Olivia, who was slumped at the bedside. "Olivia? What's going on? I just went out to get you some things, how did he show up?"
Earlier, Winnie had called Lawrence, and seeing that Olivia still wasn't speaking, she went out to buy some food and supplies.
On her way back, she ran into Lawrence rushing over.
Lawrence said Bryan had found Jeremy's whereabouts and that he had come to the hospital.
Both of them had a bad feeling. How did Jeremy find out so quickly and come to the hospital?
They rushed in.
But it seemed they were too late. The two had already argued, and the broken items on the floor indicated things had gone badly.
Winnie saw Olivia looking more despondent than when she first found out she was pregnant.
She quietly looked up at Lawrence.
Lawrence gave her a deep look and quickly ran out to catch Jeremy. "Jeremy! Don't go yet. What did you and Ms. Smith talk about?"
"What could I possibly say to a woman as wild as her?" Jeremy was completely out of control.
His eyes were bloodshot, and his breathing was heavy.
Lawrence frowned, trying to place a firm hand on his shoulder. "Don't talk like that. Calm down. What happened between you two?"
"Lawrence?" Jeremy looked back in confusion, staring coldly at Lawrence as if he couldn't understand a troubling question. He gritted his teeth and growled, "What do I lack compared to Sam? She doesn't care for me, but she cares for Sam. Two months ago, she couldn't wait to be with Sam."
"Am I not as good as Sam at pleasing women? Why is she so cheap? If she wanted to have sex, she could have come to me! Disgusting."
Lawrence's brows furrowed deeply. Seeing Jeremy's crazed state, he was at a loss for words and didn't know how to console him.
He looked too heartbroken.
And Jeremy's out-of-control shouting must have been heard by Olivia and Winnie inside.
Lawrence glanced back.
The door to the room was half-closed.
Olivia crouched by the bed, her fingers gripping the sheets tightly, her face pale.
Winnie was furious and worried. "Olivia! What's going on? Why did you tell Jeremy you slept with Sam? What did you two talk about that made Jeremy suddenly hate you so much?"
As the door to the room closed, Lawrence could no longer hear the two women talking.
He strode away, following Jeremy, afraid that in his current state, he might cause an accident while driving.
Sure enough, just as he reached the hospital entrance, Jeremy's Cadillac sped away at an alarming speed, not avoiding pedestrians at all.
"Jeremy, stop!" Lawrence feared he might cause a fatal accident and immediately turned to his Rolls-Royce. "Bryan, you take another car. We need to stop him with both cars!"
The road outside the hospital was in chaos.
Inside the room.
Winnie patiently waited for Olivia to stop crying, then helped her to the bed and covered her with a blanket.
Olivia let her do as she pleased, like a lifeless corpse drained of energy.
Winnie looked at her, both anxious and angry, but ultimately helpless.
She stared at Olivia's pale face, her mind racing with many thoughts. She slowly grasped Olivia's cold fingertips and, in the lowest voice, voiced her suspicion, "Since Jeremy came, and since you're crying like this, I guess the child in your belly is his, right?"
Olivia weakly looked up.
Winnie stopped her from denying it, her rational eyes sharp and cold. "It's his, isn't it? Otherwise, you wouldn't have lied and said you were two months pregnant."
"Olivia, are you stupid? He got you pregnant, so why didn't you tell him the child is his? Not only did you not tell him, but you also blamed it on Sam. You know how Jeremy feels about you. How hurt must he be!"
"Are you just trying to make him disgusted with you, to hate you? Was it during those days on Azure Isle? Did you have any interaction with him? Tell me, please?"
There was no hiding it anymore. Winnie was too shrewd, and Olivia's silence gave her away.
Besides, Olivia was too heartbroken.
Olivia covered her eyes and sobbed, nodding with difficulty. "At that time, he was initially bitten by a poisonous creature in the deep sea when he fell into the water."
"Every time it flared up, he would go mad. Adam was afraid he would die during an episode, and I happened to be able to help release the poison when he was aroused. Later, I didn't resist."
Winnie sighed deeply. "If that's the case, why didn't you tell him you slept with him to save him?"
Olivia smiled bitterly, a blush of embarrassment on her cheeks. "If it was just to save him, without liking him, I wouldn't have wanted to sleep with him at all. Only I know that I indulged for a moment. It was voluntary. I knew I was entangled with Sam, yet I still slept with him."
"Winnie, if it were you, you wouldn't be able to accept it either, right? You would keep it a secret too, especially since Jeremy had amnesia and didn't remember anything after waking up."
"I kept this secret perfectly, and Adam promised me he wouldn't say anything, respecting my decision. If it weren't for the sudden pregnancy, Jeremy would have always been at peace with me."
Winnie said, "But from his expression just now, I think he suspects you! His anger told me he came today to ask you the truth, to find out if the child is his."
Winnie defended Jeremy. "Olivia, you shouldn't be so heartless. What right do you have to make decisions for Jeremy and push him away?"
"Because he can't take responsibility." Olivia's lips were cold as she took out her phone to show Winnie. "He lied to me, saying he had broken up with Lynn. I originally thought that if he was single again, I might tell him and discuss the child's future with him. But Lynn sent a photo. He was clearly still with Lynn this morning!"
"Winnie, you've always comforted me, saying he and Lynn were just pretending. But whether it's an act or not, only he knows. Let me tell you, Lynn said she can never have children. Do you think Jeremy won't feel responsible for her?"
She continued, "The DeRoss Family may be powerful, but their family rules are strict. And Lynn is so ruthless; won't she use this to force Jeremy to marry her? They can't end things, so how can Jeremy take responsibility for me?"
"Forget it. Winnie, I hope you understand. I've been through enough humiliation these three years."
"Three years ago, my parents and I paid almost everything to have Mia, and since then, we've been hiding and never had a good day. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to make you sad. Three years later, how could I allow myself to get pregnant again and go through it all over?"
