Chapter 323 He didn't trust her

Then she thought, in the end, it was their child that they had conceived together. With a cold face, she stood beside him, waiting.

Ten minutes later, the chief hurriedly ran into the room. He surreptitiously glanced at Winnie and said to Lawrence, "We suspect that the kidnappers might be related to Mr. Mitchell, the chairman of the auction company. One of the kidnappers may be a former bodyguard employed by Mr. Mitchell. You two should think about whether you have had any conflicts with Mr. Mitchell."

Lawrence's expression soured, and he abruptly fixed Winnie with a penetrating, icy stare, as though wielding a blade.

"Did the police investigate it thoroughly?" Winnie, feeling suspicious and perplexed, acknowledged her conflict with Mr. Mitchell, the chairman of the auction company. However, she couldn't fathom how this disagreement could have led to abduct her son.

"All of this happened because of your actions. You angered people, and now our son is suffering because of it." Approaching her with a fearful expression, Lawrence pointed out, "It's because of your recent antics, which has not only put our son in a difficult situation but has also implicated Darcy. Winnie, if anything happens to our son, I will never forgive you!"

Winnie was frustrated. Hearing him worry about Darcy made her feel even colder inside. "Who said it must be my fault? Haven't you also threatened Mr. Mitchell for the sake of Darcy? You don't love our son at all. You have never fulfilled your fatherly duties, so how can you blame me?"

"What did you say?!" Lawrence angrily approached her. He had sacrificed so much for Sidney, and she had no right to blame him for being neglectful, considering all the efforts he had made. It seemed she just didn't understand the extent of his sacrifices and commitment.

"Enough, stop arguing," Olivia intervened, scared that the two of them were about to fight. "Shouldn't our top priority be the child? Both of you should urgently seek someone to locate the child."

"Chief, find all the surveillance footage. Search the entire city following the direction of the van. I want the kidnappers dead," Lawrence growled lowly.

The chief quickly started searching for all the surveillance footage.

Winnie stood by helplessly. At that moment, her phone made two beeping sounds. She walked aside to check on her phone. Looking down, it turned out to be a red dot indicating location, drifting toward the south of Lymington. After about half a minute, the red dot disappeared. Winnie widened her eyes in disbelief, feeling regretful for being slow to realize that it might have been a message from Oscar.

The little guy's smartwatch was her first means of contact with him, and she had forgotten that Oscar had a mini tracking device around his neck. It was a "necklace" that the little guy made himself. He had boasted about it before, saying that he would never get lost with it. Winnie initially doubted a three-year-old's ability to create a genuine tracking system, but her perspective changed. She now believed that Oscar, who had been kidnapped, was covertly signaling his danger and location to her.

She hurriedly approached the police chief and said, "Chief, I know where my son is. He is currently heading to the…."

Before she could finish talking, Lawrence, who had been monitoring the surveillance, interrupted her. He suddenly urgently instructed, "It seemed here that they are heading to the north. Chief, mobilize all the police force. I'm giving you two hours to rescue my child and fiancée. Let's go!" The entire special police force surged toward the entrance of the hall, their footsteps echoing with urgency. Engines roared to life as police cars revved up, poised for swift departure.

"No, it's not to the north!" Winnie saw him rushing forward and hurriedly caught up. "My son was actually taken to the south!"

"What are you trying to do? The surveillance shows that Darcy was clearly taken to the north. Don't interfere with this." Lawrence thought about Sidney being in that car as well. The child was frail and sickly, and he had no idea how long his son could withstand the kidnappers. He felt very annoyed with Winnie and coldly glanced at her before getting into the car directly.

"You bastard, all you care about is Darcy," Winnie cursed coldly and chased after the police car, pounding on it. "You can't take away all the police force. Leave some for me. My son is really in the south. If you waste time, it could cost his life!" Yet, her screams lingered behind as the car pulled away.

Lawrence glanced at the mirror, his heart twisting at her frail and helpless appearance. Frustration welled up within him; the police investigation seemed inferior to her blind guessing. He stared ahead with a tightened heart, urging, "Speed up!"

"Chief, please spare me some of the police force." Winnie, at a loss, could only turn back to ask the chief.

"Winnie, the only people left in the station are administrative staff. Lawrence also cares about your child and he is doing the best to rescue your child. Just wait here," the chief replied.

Winnie didn't want to wait around for Lawrence. Earlier, Oscar had transmitted a coordinate of his location to her, which proved far more accurate than the location Lawrence had acquired from the surveillance footage. Trusting her intuition, Winnie immediately ran out to stop a car.

Upon noticing the tears in Winnie's eyes, Olivia suggested, "Since Lawrence has the entire police force tied up, consider reaching out to Mr. Rock to see if he can allocate any additional manpower."

Agreeing with the suggestion, Winnie promptly dialed a distress call. Mr. Rock answered swiftly, and she urgently conveyed, "Rock, Oscar has been abducted. Do you perhaps still have any manpower left that could assist me in scouring the entire city?"

"What? How did Oscar get into trouble?" Rock sounded nervous but also seemed a little hesitant.
"I followed Jeffrey's clues to the border of Lymington earlier, and I used all my bodyguards for that. If I ask them to return, it will take until tomorrow morning at the earliest."

Winnie felt despair and knew she couldn't give up searching for Jeffrey as well. She could only helplessly say, "I'll figure something out. You focus on your own matters."

Inside the car, Rock ended the call and placed his phone beside him. He tapped the screen with his fingers, his gaze turning somewhat chilly. It seemed Darcy had taken action and planned a kidnapping on Oscar.

Thinking of Oscar, a trace of reluctance flashed through him. Oscar proved to be exceptionally sharp, with a multitude of thoughts. The other child accompanying Lawrence displayed an even colder temperament. Together, they posed as a significant obstacle in Rock's pursuit of Winnie. He couldn't care less about Darcy's plan to handle the children; his sole focus was on achieving results, leaving him no other choice but to refuse to help Winnie.

On the flip side, Winnie cast her eyes downward with a faint expression, accompanied by a bitter smile. Despite believing she had developed resilience over the past three years, facing challenges related to her son made her realize that she didn't have her own network of connections, highlighting her underlying vulnerability.

Winnie wiped the corner of her eye, squinting coldly. "The surveillance footage indicates the van moving north, leading Lawrence to believe Oscar is headed in that direction. However, Oscar's actual location was traced to the south. Given that Darcy and Oscar were abducted together, it seems contradictory for their locations to be diverging from each other. There must be something suspicious going on! Doesn't this seem like a deliberate distraction?"

"You're suspecting that Darcy has staged this kidnapping?" Olivia's face turned cold as the possibility sank in.

Winnie clenched her fist weakly, feeling resentful. No matter what she said, Lawrence wouldn't believe her.

"Don't cry. Even with just the two of us, we can still rescue Oscar. Let's go in the direction of the location first," Olivia calmly said.

In a cave on the outskirts of Lymington, the place was undeveloped, with winding tunnels and bizarre stone columns extending dozens of meters deep. It was dark, damp, and exceptionally cold. Oscar and Sidney were rudely hung down, and shortly after, the kidnappers bound their bodies in the shallow, murky water, submerging them beneath the surface. Their bodies rapidly succumbed to the biting cold, shivering uncontrollably, rendering them unable to resist.

"Mmm..." Sidney, with his fierce and irritable personality, continued to struggle.

Oscar sadly signaled him to not waste his strength. He looked down and saw his empty necklace. His once radiant eyes now became helpless. Earlier in the car, he attempted to send a distress signal to Winnie using the necklace's small tracking device, but the kidnappers quickly caught on and threw it out of the window during the journey. Subsequently, the car made several turns and ended up at the cave. Even if his mother became aware of the situation, pinpointing their exact location might prove challenging.

Suddenly, a slap came from behind, causing Oscar to fall into the water.

"Mmm!" Sidney, his mouth gagged, widened his eyes and screamed. He stared at Darcy, who had suddenly appeared like a ferocious little beast.

"Heh..." Darcy emerged from the side, releasing the loose restraints on her wrists. Holding the rope, she approached the two children, observing their cold expressions. "Let me guess, the one I hit is the little troublemaker?" she snarled, pulling Oscar out of the water with a heartless grip.

What a malicious woman. She had indeed pretended to be kidnapped and conspired with these kidnappers to harm him and Oscar.

"Oscar..." Sidney experienced a mix of heartache and anxiety, questioning whether their parents would realize their absence and come to their aid.
