Chapter 269 Oscar's Show of Strength
Winnie couldn't refuse, anyway, especially considering Darcy's expression upstairs just now. It's the way Lawrence R usually acts.
She calmly said, "Send it to my phone and let me know the time and location."
Without giving Alan a chance to ramble, Winnie hung up the phone.
She turned to look at her son again and felt a headache coming on. This afternoon, Sidney definitely couldn't follow her.
It was too late to hire a nanny now, and she didn't trust anyone anyway.
After thinking it over, she could only think of one person who could take care of her son in her absence.
Olivia... It just so happened that she had Mia. Maybe the two children could play together.
The original plan was to conceal Oscar's existence.
But plans are no match for changes, and it might be okay if only Olivia knew.
Winnie sighed and said to her son, "How about we play with an aunt? She has a cute daughter that Oscar will surely like!"
Sidney didn't like girls. Whenever he encountered girls at kindergarten, they would pounce on him, causing the boys who had secret crushes on them to target him.
With a sad tone, Sidney asked, "Are you trying to leave me with someone else, Mommy?"
"..." Um.
"So, you're already tired of me?"
"Of course not!" Winnie sighed deeply. How did Oscar become so sensitive and prone to fits of jealousy lately?
"Mommy doesn't want to expose you to danger. You're only three and a half years old, and Olivia is someone I trust greatly."
"Okay, then let's meet that woman." Sidney reluctantly agreed.
"..."
That condescending tone was just like Lawrence R; it was even meticulous.
Winnie seriously doubted whether 'Oscar' had changed since returning to the country.
-
In the villa estate.
The real Oscar slept until noon and then got out of bed. Sidney's bed was quite comfortable!
The housekeepers were waiting outside, feeling both curious and reluctant to rush him.
Once the little guy opened the door and emerged, looking fresh and neatly dressed, all the housekeepers were stunned, their jaws dropping.
"Sidney, you can dress yourself now?" Housekeeper Julia squatted down, almost shedding tears of joy.
"My goodness, today Sidney not only dressed himself, but he also brushed his teeth and washed his face!" another housekeeper exclaimed in shock.
Oscar paused and frowned. Wasn't dressing himself and doing such little tasks something he had been able to do since he was two?
He never needed Mommy to worry about it.
Hmm... could his little brother not do it?
Well, he quickly waved at the housekeepers, "Let's start again."
Click, the door closed, and then opened again, revealing a naked Oscar in front of everyone. "I was sleepwalking just now. I can't really dress myself. Winnie, please help me put on my clothes."
"..."
Did they think she was stupid?
The housekeepers were speechless but couldn't help but be amused by the little guy.
The sounds of laughter and joy from upstairs caught the attention of Darcy's confidant, Barbara, who walked up and stared at 'Sidney', frowning. "Sidney, you woke up too late. You missed the start of kindergarten again today. I will report this to Mr. L."
Oscar was cunning; he could sense that this maid was different.
That demeanor, she was similar to the bad woman from last night.
He observed as the housekeepers who were dressing him lowered their heads and stopped laughing when they saw Barbara.
Oscar pursed his lips, then looked up and imitated the style he saw on TV, displaying an air of importance. "Who do you think you are? If I don't want to go to school, I won't. Why do you think you can tell my dad? Be careful, I'll find an opportunity to-"
"You're fired."
Barbara was utterly stunned. Was this still the usual cold and sarcastic Sidney she knew?
Barbara angrily retorted, "Sidney, I am your mother's personal servant."
Oscar remained unfazed and mischievously remarked, "Good to know. If I'm not satisfied with Mommy, she will leave, let alone you!"
"..."
Barbara was once again deeply shocked. She was too angry to speak.
"What about my dad?" Oscar asked the maid in front of him.
"Mr. L stayed with you until you fell asleep last night, then he went out and didn't come back. He went straight to the company today. But he called to ask if you woke up and told us to make sure you have a good breakfast," the maid answered dutifully.
Oscar also knew that his despicable father sat by his bed for a while last night...
It seemed like he cared about Sidney. However, Oscar hasn't forgotten his father's betrayal!
He wondered if this man could be saved.
Oscar felt that he needed to observe a bit more before deciding whether to help him reconcile with mommy.
After finishing breakfast, it was almost noon.
The villa estate was quiet, and the real Sidney still hadn't returned!
Scratching his head and thinking about last night's events, Oscar realized that he was mistakenly brought back to the auction hall, which meant the real Sidney was also at the exhibition center.
He seemed to have seen Mommy rushing off...
Could Sidney have been mistakenly taken away by Mommy!
This misunderstanding was getting bigger! Were he and Sidney inadvertently switched?
Oscar wandered around the estate with a mix of laughter and tears. Was there any way to contact Sidney? They needed to meet.
He discreetly investigated the entrances and exits of the estate.
But due to his previous escape last night, Lawrence R instructed the bodyguards to keep a close eye on him.
"Sidney, why are you wandering? This is your home, aren't you familiar with it?" The head of the bodyguards smiled and asked.
Oscar cleared his throat, quickly withdrew his head, and composed himself, "Of course, I'm familiar. I'm just leisurely strolling."
After a moment's thought, he deliberately put on an arrogant tone, "Stop crowding around me. Is the salary that good? Clear the weeds and mop the floor, or I'll tell Daddy!"
"..." The bodyguards were speechless. When did Sidney become so calculating? He used to daydream or play by himself, but now he was really articulate.
Helplessly, the bodyguards went to fetch their tools.
Oscar hurriedly ran to the backyard, planning to find another entrance.
Suddenly, a gentle voice called out to him, "Sidney, you skipping class again today? Are you here to see your grandma?"
Oscar turned around and saw a chubby maid with a smile on her face.
For some reason, he had a good impression of her. He walked over and tentatively said, "Yeah, I came to see Grandma. Where is she?"
Taylor was surprised and said, "You silly child, your grandma has been lying in the single villa. Come, let's go see her with Grandma Taylor."
Grandma Taylor? Is she the Taylor that Mommy and Aunt Lena mentioned?
Oscar knows her! Mommy has been working on a medicine for the past three years, claiming it can treat persistent vegetative states.
Aunt Lena and George mentioned that Mommy's madam Rodriguez, Lawrence R's mother, is someone with a persistent vegetative state.
Isn't that Sidney's grandmother?
Maybe she's his grandmother too...
Oscar ponders as he quickly follows Taylor into the single-bedroom ward,
An elderly person lies quietly. She's not very old, her hair is still tinged with gray, but her face is pale, as if she were asleep.
After Taylor washes the old lady's body, she takes out a pill, turns off the monitor, and places it in her mouth, muttering, "Mrs. L's medicine is almost gone, Sidney. I told you before, maybe your birth mother will soon appear, and then your grandmother will be saved. Let me tell you, I noticed last night that your grandmother's fingers seemed to move!"
Oscar is shocked and becomes fully focused.
