Chapter 160 Lawrence

Darcy rushed into the CEO's office, looking incredulous.

"What on earth is Mrs. L doing? Mr. L, why did she sweep away four trillion dollars of your liquid funds? What is her intention?!"

Luke couldn't stop Darcy's anger because, indeed, Mrs. L's move was like pushing the CEO to a dead end. Why, oh why?!

"Mr. L, we've found Mrs. L's location!"

"Where?" Lawrence R remained expressionless, indifferent to everything. His brows turned icy, and he stood up, ready to leave.

Despite the commotion outside, he didn't seem to hear anything. His bodyguards kept everyone at bay, but his mind and eyes were solely fixated on that woman.

Was she forced by Alan?

He didn't believe it. She wouldn't empty his company's funds and jeopardize him to the brink of bankruptcy.

Darcy followed him into the car, faithfully accompanying him.

Luke presented the investigation results, his brows furrowing.

"Mr. L, I double-checked just now. The four trillion dollars were transferred to an overseas construction company, the same one that recently won the bid for Mr. Lancelot's land. It belongs to Alan."
L's profound eyes turned cruel, as if they were a glimpse into hell.

Winnie made a mistake on the bidding documents, causing him to lose the hotel project.

He thought she had done it unintentionally and was willing to believe her.

Now that the hotel project had been terminated, he had to pay a billion dollars in compensation, and Winnie had transferred away his four trillion dollars.

No, he couldn't believe it. How could she be involved with Alan? He refused to believe it.

He remained silent.

The car quickly arrived at a villa in the suburbs. Luke signaled the armed bodyguards to split into two teams and infiltrate.

Without waiting for the bodyguards to clear a path, Lawrence R, his tall figure as cold as frost, pushed open the front door with his large hand.

The first floor was brightly lit, and voices could be heard in the living room. The door was tightly shut.

He heard the familiar voice of a woman that cut him to the bone-

"You caused Lawrence R to end up like this. Isn't that enough? I've had enough. I want to leave!"

"Winnie, it's 'us.' The three of us are getting revenge together! Thank you, Alan, for your help. Lawrence R's downfall arrived swiftly, and it wasn't in vain for me to hide for ten years. With his liquid assets gone, all the invested companies will come after him. Imperial Financial Group is on the verge of collapse. We will use his money to acquire his company, and the Granger family's legacy will be restored!"

Winnie looked at her uncle, filled with excitement, and no longer recognized him. Who was the true corporate usurper?!

Perhaps, seeking revenge was only an excuse, Winnie shivered at the thought.

She just wanted to escape from here, no matter what, and return to him. No matter how he might treat her, he must be going through a difficult time now.

But her uncle wouldn't let her go. Winnie had been tormented the entire day, and her sanity had faded away.

Numbly, she mockingly responded, "It's us. We did it together, Uncle. Open the door, I want to leave."

"Winnie! Oh, we are a community of interests now. You can't leave..." The sinister man approached, grabbing Winnie's chin.

"You... Alan?" Winnie finally got a clear answer, her face turning pale as snow.

She couldn't believe this was Lawrence R's brother, Alan Rodriguez...

With a bang, the closed door was shattered by a gunshot!

After the loud noise, the door slowly cracked open, revealing an endless cold night outside.

In the darkness, a figure emerged, resembling a demon from hell. The man was unusually tall, his black suit appearing as if the ruler of the underworld had come to claim souls.

But his face was unusually pale, his icy gaze fixed on Alan, who was tilting Winnie's chin with a smirk on his face.

The woman sat in the chair, her words echoing in Lawrence R's ears over and over again.

She called him Alan, so she really knew him.

She had known all along that he was Lawrence R. Yet she pretended and played the role of a cunning woman.

She said they had sought revenge against him and that the three of them seemed to have accomplished something big together?

Lawrence R stared at this woman intently, her delicate face, now pale. He burst into laughter.

"...L?!" Winnie saw him, her whole body stiffening and trembling, her face as white as paper.

How could he appear? Was he here to find her? Damn it, how much of those lies she was forced to tell did he hear? How much did he understand?

Her fingers started to tremble, and she suddenly stood up from the chair.

Lawrence R motioned with his gun, and the man silently stepped forward, with a lazy and cold-blooded demeanor. But beneath the coldness, his heart was torn apart.

"Winnie, are you in cahoots with Alan?" he asked with a smile that was both sinister and cruel.

"No, I..." Winnie hurriedly spoke.

He laughed even more wickedly, "You've known my identity for quite some time now, yet you played your part flawlessly."
"Listen to me..." she tried to approach him.

The man halted, his long legs making no sound. Suddenly, his expression disappeared, replaced by two edges of a sword.

"You claimed to enter my life, my company, and give it your all. You promised not to leave me alone anymore."

"You said that after waking up this morning, you would stand by my side."

"I wondered why I kept dozing off this morning, and why you willingly put on the ring again. So, it was all an exceedingly sweet trap," he laughed, tears shimmering in his eyes.

"Lawrence R..." Winnie felt like she was breathing in knives, the pain intensifying.

She suddenly realized, in this situation, with him seeing her with Alan, how could she explain? She had lost her chance.

Madam Rodriguez had told her, if there was someone that he hated the most, it was his brother who took away everything from him.

But she didn't know, she didn't know that the man her uncle found turned out to be Alan!

How could she be with the person he hated the most, 'conspiring' to transfer his assets?

Winnie couldn't imagine how much pain his heart must be in right now.

She shed tears of utmost agony, feeling disoriented and restless.

"Listen to me, it's not like that..." The fear trembled in her voice like that of a child.

"Speak of love? Joining forces with your uncle Alan to seize my company, is that your love? I can feel it," he said, his voice icy and desolate.

His thin lips pursed tightly, and his voice disappeared. Just like his gaze, it lost all warmth and pierced into the depths of her bones.

Winnie's heart bled, and a sweet metallic taste rose in her throat. The scent of fresh blood made her tremble rapidly. She stared at him, her heart as lifeless as ashes.

Shaking her head continuously, vehemently, she still wanted to walk towards him, towards this towering man whom she had 'ruined' with her actions.

"Don't touch L, Winnie!"
Darcy stepped forward, blocking L. She smirked coldly, not expecting Alan to be involved in Elliott's affairs. This was truly advantageous for her.

She knew just how much Mr. L hated Alan.

Winnie joining forces with him was something Mr. L could not tolerate!
