Chapter 55 Why should I wait on you?

Inside the bar, Olivia was completely drunk. She was initially in a good mood.

However, as the night progressed, she made two phone calls which both resulted in heated arguments. Winnie heard Jason’s voice on the other end.

Olivia complained while hugging Winnie. "That jerk, I begged him to pick me up after work, and he says he's busy with business in Catania City. Is he that busy and not caring about me anymore?"

Winnie opened her phone and searched for news about Victoria.

Given that she was filming in Catania, she wondered what urgent business could Jason be talking about at this time of the night. Winnie's face turned cold as she looked at Olivia who felt both heartache and hatred toward that bitchy couple.

But she didn't know how to bring it up without hurting Olivia too much.

"Winnie, let's go get a room!" Olivia suddenly shouted and tried to get up with Winnie helping her.

The bar was filled with people collapsing from being intoxicated including Winnie's sober college classmate whom she wasn't familiar with.

He said he had returned from studying abroad and owned a diamond raw material company. Winnie's eyes gleamed with interest as she envisioned Triton, a venture encompassing the entire spectrum from jewelry design to production.

"Winnie, maybe we'll do business together in the future," the male classmate said, impressed, as he handed her his business card.

Winnie offered a smile as she accepted the card. She couldn't lift Olivia, so the male classmate helped her instead.

Suddenly, an unusual cold aura enveloped the area.

"Booking a room, are we? Are you planning a threesome?" A familiar mocking voice rang out.

Winnie suddenly looked up and saw Mr. L, her face filled with surprise.

Then she realized what he had just said. She glanced at the male classmate, blushed slightly, and asked, "How did you end up here?"

She realized that he might not have intended to come here.

The atmosphere around Lawrence grew even colder.

The male classmate's gaze fell upon the newcomer, his aura noticeably fading. With an uneasy laugh, he asked, "Winnie, care to introduce your mysterious companion?"

Winnie who was feeling a little annoyed, couldn't grasp the situation and responded sarcastically.

She didn't know how to introduce their relationship so she quickly whispered, "My roommate."

Beneath his mask, the man's expression turned icy. "Winnie, say that again?"

Winnie immediately dared not speak but she felt her description was not wrong.

To avoid trouble, she quickly smiled at the male classmate. "It's getting late, you should head off.”

When the male classmate noticed that the man posed a formidable challenge, he flashed an uneasy smile and made a hasty exit.

A strange silence suddenly fell in the private room.

Olivia saw the newcomer and drunkenly said, "Weren't we going to have a threesome? Now that Mr. L is here, I'm all in. Winnie, you too!"

"Olivia, he's not that kind of a person. Now, hush!"

Olivia stumbled toward the man, but he effortlessly avoided her.

The woman stumbled and Winnie shot him a glare. She wanted to go help Olivia but she unexpectedly felt his arm around her waist.

Lawrence lowered his gaze and looked at her mischievously. "Could you elaborate on what you meant by 'this kind' of mine?”

Ensnared by his piercing gaze, she comprehended Olivia's brash remarks but found herself uneasy.

"How am I supposed to know what 'kind' you are? Olivia is just drunk!"

"Oh, I thought you knew very well." He leaned closer, his eyes were gleaming with a wicked hint.

Winnie's face heated up instantly. The meaning behind his smug expression puzzled her. He was acting all righteous. She quickly pushed away his exquisite shirt.

Olivia slept on the floor, snoring softly.

Winnie couldn't lift her and was at a loss. She glanced at the man, annoyed, and said, "Mr. L, since you're here, can you please help me?"

"Oh, so you see me as your laborer?" he arrogantly replied.

"No, I'm begging you." Winnie blinked and tugged on his shirt.

Her gentle touch and teary eyes have allured Lawrence.

The assistant discreetly watched as his CEO casually loosened his tie.

Annoyed, Lawrence picked up the drunken woman and held her at a distance. He asked coldly, "Where should I leave her?"

"I will book a suite upstairs. Olivia insisted on sleeping there." Winnie led the way hurriedly.

Nevertheless, the manner in which he ascended the stairs with Olivia made it appear as though he was handling a bag of rubbish. Winnie couldn't resist airing her grievances to the assistant. "Is your boss a neat freak? Will he die if he hugs someone?"

Luke truthfully replied, "Mr. L generally doesn't like women getting close to him."

He added with a smile, "Except for you, I think Mr. L likes hugging you."

Winnie feigned ignorance, yet she sensed a warm flush creeping into her cheeks. How absurd.

They arrived in the room, and the man threw Olivia onto the bed. Winnie covered her with a blanket, then went to the bathroom to grab a wet towel, intending to wash Olivia's face. Suddenly, the man snatched it away. He wanted to wipe his hands.

Winnie stared at him in disbelief. "This is Olivia's face towel."

"Can't you go get her another one? In your heart, is her face more important than my hands?" His dissatisfaction was thinly veiled, very displeased.

"Does Olivia not deserve it anymore? She is much more important than you," said Winnie.

Winnie glanced at his hand, strong and elegant which possessed an exceptionally graceful demeanor. It was said that such hands can greatly satisfy women. She stared blankly, completely unaware of where her mind had wandered off to.

The man looked at her, then at his hand. He mischievously asked with a sly smile, "Is there something wrong with my hand?"

"Huh?!" Winnie's face immediately turned red when she was suddenly addressed about her wandering gaze. "There's nothing wrong..."

'Damn it, what was I thinking just now?' Winnie scolded herself internally. She wanted to cover her face as she felt that she had been getting more and more mischievous since hanging out with Olivia recently.

"Are you done yet?" he asked with a smile when he noticed her blushing.

Winnie quickly finished cleaning up Olivia and turned around.

Without warning, he reached out and held her delicate shoulder. He then gently pulled her closer to him. In the process, his other hand remained in his pocket.

A display of maximal masculine power.

Winnie's thoughts briefly wandered, and a flush deepened as she imagined the exquisite texture of his skin beneath the fabric of his shirt. When she raised her head, her eyes met his frosty expression.

"What's wrong with you?" Winnie frowned, wondering if this guy had been struck by lightning, as he appeared unusually angry tonight.

The man's expression grew even darker. "It seems like you haven't realized what you've done wrong, have you? A pregnant woman dares to enter a bar. Didn't you keep saying you wanted to go home and serve your man?!"

Winnie furrowed her soft eyebrows. "I came to the bar, but I didn't have a single drink."

She raised her head again. "What do you mean by serving you? When did I ever say such things? Why should I serve you?"

Assistant Luke who was witnessing the argument between his boss and Winnie, thought to himself, 'It seemed like Ms. Winnie has two completely different personalities, one for the public and the other for the private. I'm afraid she doesn't even know who this person in front of her is.'

Winnie was puzzled. She wondered if Lawrence had somehow become a mind reader.

She defended herself. "We entered a contractual marriage and agreed to have our freedom. I came to the bar without harming the child, so why do you have the right to grab me? Besides, you don't even come home every night. Do I control you then?" Winnie was feeling a bit sour as she spoke.

"Can it be the same? I work, what about you? Frolicking around in a bar, carefree." The thought of her smiling at another man a moment ago made him very upset.
