Chapter 193 Mr. Lancelot Reveals the Truth
Lawrence R stood up and frowned as he watched her hesitant walk.
He walked over, took her hand, raised an eyebrow, and asked coldly, "You want me to eat something, but you won't do it yourself?"
Was he intentionally causing trouble for her?
"Aren't you staying away from it yourself?" Winnie mocked.
The man coldly said, "I guess you wouldn't dare to poison me either."
Winnie felt heartbroken that he would rather believe Darcy's lies than her medication.
Suddenly, he lifted her body horizontally.
"What do you think I'm going to do?" Winnie pushed him.
"What do you think I want to do?" his dark eyes were serene with a hint of wickedness.
Winnie fell silent immediately.
Lawrence R held her tightly, walked through the corridor, and Winnie smelled the masculine scent emanating from him. It was the familiar smell she yearned for, the embrace she longed for.
Her heart seemed to be hanging in the air. Whenever he treated her a little better, she would have the illusion that he would forgive her.
What made her become so lowly? Was it because she didn't want to lose him?
Suddenly, her stomach rumbled, and Winnie gently covered her face.
Luke chuckled beside her, "Miss Anderson, it must be the baby feeling hungry."
Lawrence R paused his steps and changed direction towards the hospital's cafeteria.
The hospital cafeteria was clean. Lawrence R let her sit down and he sat opposite her without moving.
Luke went to order the food.
Winnie stole a glance at his profile, and suddenly, an elderly person's voice sounded beside her.
There was a hint of laughter in his voice, "Lawrence R, what a coincidence to meet you here!"
The man looked up, quickly stood up, and respectfully said, "Mr. Lancelot, long time no see. Why are you here in Lymington?"
Upon hearing the name, Winnie turned her head and was surprised to see Mr. Lancelot from Perugia City!
Being a doctor, she had the habit of carefully observing those she had treated.
Mr. Lancelot shook hands with Lawrence R and exchanged pleasantries. "I heard there's a remarkable doctor in this hospital. Thanks to a young girl who used Dry Needling to save me when I had a stroke, I came here to take a look!"
Winnie was puzzled. How did Mr. Lancelot find out that the one who treated him was a young girl?
Subconsciously, she turned her head away.
At this moment, Mr. Lancelot noticed her gaze and followed it to her beautiful face.
"Who are you?" Mr. Lancelot frowned, staring at Winnie.
Winnie quickly waved her hand, wanting to stand up. "Sorry, I don't know you..."
"But why do I feel like I've seen you before?"
Mr. Lancelot took a couple of steps closer, unabashedly examining Winnie from her face to her slender hands.
His expression changed, even Lawrence R noticed something was amiss, and he asked, "Mr. Lancelot, what happened to my wife?"
"She's your wife?" Mr. Lancelot was greatly surprised.
Externally, Lawrence R didn't want to explain, so he could only introduce her as such for now.
He nodded.
Mr. Lancelot, however, kept staring at Winnie and suddenly chuckled with certainty. "No wonder, young girl, that night you..."
Winnie glanced at Lawrence R, who looked puzzled. Not wanting to complicate things, she quickly blinked at Mr. Lancelot, signaling him to stop talking.
Mr. Lancelot immediately sensed Winnie's concerns and didn't continue speaking.
"Do you two know each other?" Lawrence R asked sharply.
"Oh, it's nothing," Mr. Lancelot smiled, change the topic and chat with him, "Lawrence, I've heard about the shock you caused in the business world of Lymington. Now I know the company that won the bid for the land in Perugia City is actually your brother's doing. The internal conflict within your Rodriguez family, huh?"
"But, I didn't mistake you. You have become the CEO of Island Electronics. You're an outstanding talent. Are you trying to force the Rodriguez family to return the Imperial Group?"
"That was originally mine," Lawrence R said in a calm tone.
Winnie looked at him as he calmed down, wondering what kind of ruthlessness he was hiding. Perhaps he had planned it all along.
Mr. Lancelot did not say much and just glanced at Winnie before leaving.
Winnie understood Mr. Lancelot's intention to thank her. Luke was still waiting for their meal, so Winnie used the excuse of going to the restroom and left her seat.
She followed Mr. Lancelot's direction and walked to the corner.
Sure enough, Mr. Lancelot leaned on his cane, supported by his son, waiting for her.
"Miss, did you save my life?" Mr. Lancelot asked her excitedly.
Winnie didn't confirm it explicitly, but just smiled and said, "You will live for a long time."
"I'm already in my eighties, which is long enough. I know it was you. That night, I vaguely opened my eyes and saw a little girl dressed as a nurse, holding a needle and pricking my head. Shortly after, my mind became clear, and I secretly looked into your eyes. They look just like yours."
Winnie chuckled, but at that time, she was wearing a mask that concealed her face well.
"You came to save me secretly, didn't you? You didn't want Lawrence R to go to prison," Mr. Lancelot understood that they were a couple and everything became clear.
But he was a bit puzzled, "If you were helping him so much, why didn't you let him know just now?"
Winnie fell silent for a moment and said, "Mr. Lancelot, it was my uncle who caused the problem with the bid at the time, so it was partly my fault. It led to his unsuccessful negotiation with you and caused you to have a seizure on the spot. I didn't want you to die, nor did I want him to get into trouble, so I saved you secretly. But it was still against medical practices. Besides, telling him now wouldn't make any difference. He has a deep misunderstanding of me and won't believe me."
Her tone sounded disheartened.
Mr. Lancelot looked at her and smiled slightly, "Did you two have an argument?"
Winnie shook her head. If it was just an argument, it would be simple.
"Don't worry, you're such a kind girl. He will eventually understand how much you love him. You risked getting caught to save me! Your Dry Needling technique is amazing. Can I have your contact information? If I get sick again in the future, I'd still like to trouble you, money is not a problem."
"I'm not doing it for money. Saving people is my instinct," Winnie checked the old man's pulse.
After finishing, she said, "You are doing well now. Here is my number."
"Thank you!" Mr. Lancelot gratefully accepted it and even said to his son as he left, "What a kind girl. Lawrence R is so lucky to marry her."
Seeing the patient she had saved in good health, Winnie felt very happy.
She sighed lightly and sent a text message to Luke, telling him that she wouldn't be eating and left first.
Two meters away around the corner, Lawrence R's eyes were deep as he watched the woman's departing figure.
Luke was equally astonished.
"Mr. L... So Mrs. L wasn't in Perugia City that night after all..."
A shocked Luke said, “So she wasn’t hiding in Lymington didn't mean she wasn't concerned about you, on the contrary, she went to save Mr. Lancelot all by herself! Misunderstood the next morning and as she just said, the tender was Elliott's doing, she had nothing to do with Elliott's revenge on you!"
"I'm not deaf!" Lawrence R said sharply.
His tall figure stood rigidly.
He didn't expect that he had secretly followed and overheard such a thing.
It was her who saved him that night.
But why did she hide it from him? And why does she still choose to conceal it?
He ordered, "Verify whether she really went to Perugia City that night."
Luke nodded and added, "Mr. L, I think Mrs. L was on your side during Elliott's revenge. Is it possible that she was forced by Elliott? She risked going to jail by illegally treating Mr. Lancelot. If she doesn't love you, why would she do that?"
Lawrence R closed his eyes, his heart pulsated slightly.
Finally, he found a hint. Did she actually care about him?
Mr. Lancelot had mentioned how amazing her Dry Needling skills were, it seemed true.
She claimed to have been by his side when his functioning neurological disorder flared up.
Olivia also testified for her.
Lawrence R suddenly asked, "Luke, did you really see her outside my ward that night?"
