Chapter 778 Catching an Affair
Angelina didn't knock this time; she kicked Bentley's guest room door open with force!
"Bentley." Angelina was about to angrily question him when she blinked and saw Melanie and Winnie sitting in the living room, eating desserts, sipping tea, watching TV, and chatting with smiles.
Seeing Angelina come in, Melanie was startled and frowned, "Ms. Harper, why are you here again? Didn't we just say that Lawrence isn't here?"
"Besides, this is the guest room prepared for Mr. Jenkins, right? Even though it's your party, you can't just barge in without knocking, can you?"
"Who do you think you are?" Angelina arrogantly cursed at Melanie.
Her eyes shifted, and she squinted her eyes sharply, "Oh, Mrs. Harrington is here too."
Her eyes seemed to pierce through Winnie, who was calmly sitting in the chair, picking up a nut with her delicate hand. Winnie's stunning features, tinged with an indescribable lazy allure, made Angelina's heart sink with a flash of jealousy.
Winnie was clearly an older woman, but her exceptional beauty and naturally unaltered features completely overshadowed Angelina. Not to mention, Winnie's healthy tan skin, paired with a low-key black fitted dress, highlighted her delicate beauty to the extreme.
If Lawrence, who had taken the drug, saw such a Winnie, he probably wouldn't be able to resist.
"Mrs. Harrington, you weren't here just now. Were you hiding?" Angelina coldly questioned Winnie, her eyes darting around the room.
Suddenly, she noticed the bathroom. Damn it, she had been distracted by Bentley earlier and had overlooked the bathroom.
Winnie responded with a faint smile, "Mr. Jenkins and I are good friends. I got tired downstairs and came up to sit and relax. There's nothing wrong with that, is there, Ms. Harper?"
"There's nothing wrong, except I suddenly want to use the bathroom!" Angelina said as she quickly pushed open the bathroom door.
But she found it empty, with only a faint scent of women's perfume lingering in the air, some heat still present, and the bathroom clearly damp from recent use.
Seeing the showerhead still dripping and the wet floor, Angelina instantly understood.
Lawrence must have been hiding here and probably used cold water to wash up.
Thinking of Winnie suddenly being outside now, Angelina was furious.
The drug she gave Lawrence ended up benefiting Winnie? She was extremely angry.
Angelina turned and ran out, her venomous gaze as if wishing to swallow Winnie whole, shouting, "Winnie, weren't you just hiding in there with Lawrence?"
"What are you talking about, Ms. Harper?" Winnie looked puzzled, her expression calm as she frowned, "I just came up here."
"Stop pretending! You shameless woman, you're married and still hiding in there with Lawrence. Does your husband know?" Angelina couldn't hold back and started cursing.
Winnie's calm face turned cold inch by inch, and she stood up, unceremoniously saying, "Ms. Harper, your insults have already constituted defamation. I know you like Lawrence, but does he like you? Do you have any evidence? Don't force your delusions on me. Mind your manners!"
"Who are you to lecture me? A shameless woman like you has no right to criticize me!" Angelina exploded in anger.
"We may not have the right, but we can call your parents." Melanie retorted, "Let your elders teach you some manners and proper behavior."
"Shut up! You're just a fake Bentley brought over! I don't even care about people like you two. Do you know who my father is going to be? You two dare to confront me."
"Angelina! Shut up." At this moment, Samuel's angry voice came from behind.
Angelina was startled and looked back to see Bentley had brought her parents over.
Bentley, with a calm face, said helplessly to Samuel, "Mr. Harper, Angelina is really out of line. Even though it's her party, she shouldn't insult the guests like this."
"If this gets out, her reputation will be ruined, especially since you're running for vice president next year. Considering your situation, I thought it best to call you to handle her."
"Tonight's event is also an important opportunity for you to attract financial backers. We were invited to the party but were humiliated like this. In the future, the Jenkins Family might not dare to attend your parties."
The Jenkins Family was the second most powerful family in Veridiania and an important financial backer for Samuel's campaign next year.
Samuel's eyes deepened, instantly understanding Bentley's displeasure.
He looked at the situation in the room.
No matter what happened, Angelina's words were indeed excessive.
He smiled, "Bentley, and you two friends, don't misunderstand. Angelina is not a bad-tempered person."
He waved his hand and deliberately scolded Angelina, "Angelina, what are you doing? Apologize to Mrs. Harrington and Ms. Stewart!"
Angelina, feeling greatly wronged, shouted, "Dad! You don't know that Winnie was just having an affair with Lawrence."
Samuel, wanting to favor Angelina, frowned, "Oh? Mrs. Harrington is married; that can't be true, right?"
Winnie argued, "Of course, that's not true. Mr. Harper, please discipline Angelina's behavior. Although I'm an insignificant guest, I don't want to be falsely accused and have my reputation tarnished."
Angelina shouted, "What reputation? You were clearly making out with Lawrence in there! The bathroom is all wet! Dad, Bentley even covered for them, teaming up to fool me. I'm furious!"
Bentley's face changed.
Winnie suddenly squinted and retorted, "I don't know why Ms. Harper is accusing me of making out with Lawrence in there? At such an important event, with my husband Rock downstairs, no one with a brain would do something so stupid, right?"
"And what's with Lawrence? Why would he make out with me in there? We're not brainless or irrational people, okay?"
Hearing this, Angelina panicked, but she couldn't reveal the cause.
She didn't speak, but Angela, standing next to her, couldn't swallow her anger. She was almost infuriated by Winnie's hypocritical words and stood up angrily.
