Chapter 898 Jeremy Returns Home
Ray: "I didn't insult you, did I?"
"Where's Lawrence?"
"AquaVista Continent, looking for Ishara. Ishara has had plastic surgery to look like Winnie. Who knows what she's up to?" Ray sounded frustrated.
Jeremy was taken aback, his brows furrowed with a hint of regret. "So Winnie will have to rely on you for now."
"Yeah, right. You can't even handle your own problems!" Ray scoffed. "Hurry up, or your father might kill you."
"Lynn's asking for trouble." Jeremy braced himself and walked into the night.
Ray watched his determined figure disappear into the darkness, thinking how the DeRoss Family's traits were passed down from father to son.
He sighed. "Don't say that. What if she really dies?"
Jeremy let out a cold laugh as the helicopter slowly descended. The wind calmed, and his tall, straight figure vanished into the cabin.
The next morning, Ray went to Dazzling Estate to pick up Winnie for work.
Winnie stood at Olivia's door, dressed in a fitted business dress and holding a briefcase.
The villa door opened, and Olivia came out holding Mia.
Ray saw Mia again and couldn't help but marvel at her delicate features. She was so much more beautiful than Sam, yet she was Sam's daughter.
Sam, the disgrace of the DeRoss Family, should have died a thousand times over if it weren't for Louis's favoritism.
Life is unpredictable.
"Good morning, Mr. Martin. I told you you don't need to protect me personally. You can go about your business; I've hired a few bodyguards myself." Winnie was uncomfortable with Ray driving her, feeling undeserving, and their relationship was neither good nor familiar.
Ray's expression wasn't pleasant either, and his handsome brows furrowed. "You think I enjoy this? Lawrence insisted. Rock is a sneaky bastard, and once he finishes dealing with the Harrington Group's mess, he'll probably target you."
Lawrence's trip to find Ishara in AquaVista Continent would eventually be figured out by Rock. If Lawrence made a move there, Rock wouldn't let Winnie off the hook back home.
Ray knew the situation was troublesome and unavoidable.
He looked disdainful and serious.
Winnie also turned cold, showing no courtesy to him.
Olivia glanced at Ray with even more hostility. Because of Laura, she thought Ray was worse than Lawrence, blindly devoted to a woman like Darcy...
"Ms. Smith, how's the baby?" Ray unexpectedly asked, extinguishing his cigarette and walking over.
His tone was unpredictable.
Olivia frowned slightly, not understanding his intent. "Why do you ask?"
"Just checking on the baby." Ray was angry on Jeremy's behalf. "What did you do at the hospital? Jeremy went there and came back devastated. You, a woman with no self-control, got pregnant with Sam's child. You're stabbing Jeremy in the heart."
Olivia's face turned pale.
Her suspicions were confirmed. Jeremy had indeed gone back to the hospital to question Chris.
Luckily, she had silenced Chris.
But Jeremy must be utterly disgusted with her now.
Seeing Olivia lower her head, Winnie quickly intervened. "Mr. Martin, her private matters are none of your business."
"I don't want to ask either, but she's making things difficult with Jeremy." Ray was dissatisfied and whispered to Winnie, "Is the baby really Sam's? You must know as her friend."
"No," Winnie denied quickly.
Ray was stunned, his eyes widening. He looked at Winnie thoughtfully. "Then whose is it?"
Winnie turned cold, looking at Ray with a mocking smile. "Guess."
"No... it can't be..." Ray was shocked, a name on the tip of his tongue.
Winnie grabbed his arm, pulling him aside to stop him from speaking further.
Her voice was cautious. "Mr. Martin, we're both trying to help them. Some things can't be revealed yet because I'm not entirely sure what Olivia wants. If I make decisions for her and she and Jeremy don't end up together, she'll be hurt again, and I'll be the sinner. I hope to protect this child until the right time, when they can naturally come together and form their bond."
Winnie's words were profound.
But Ray understood.
Olivia's baby might actually be Jeremy's?!
But Olivia chose to hide it, wanting to sever ties with Jeremy?
Jeremy must feel like a fool now...
Winnie was right. Revealing everything now, against Olivia's wishes, might not end well. Jeremy's temper would make Olivia's life hell, causing chaos in the DeRoss Family.
Ray squinted, feeling frustrated. "Mia is Sam's daughter. What hope is there for Olivia and Jeremy?"
"Maybe fate has other plans!" Winnie said with a meaningful, cold smile.
Ray didn't understand what Winnie meant.
He sighed coldly. "Jeremy hasn't even sorted out his own issues. Lynn attempted suicide last night. Fuck, Louis called him home immediately. He's in for a rough time."
"What?" Winnie's eyes darkened. "What's Lynn doing?"
"Suicide! She's forcing Jeremy to take responsibility."
Ray's voice was loud enough for Olivia to hear. She couldn't help but look towards Ray.
Winnie noticed Olivia's pale, weak face and held Mia tightly.
"What's suicide, Mr. Martin? Who are you talking about?" Mia asked innocently.
Olivia said nothing, quickly getting into the car with Mia.
Winnie worriedly followed, hearing Olivia's calm voice. "Mr. Martin, drive us to work."
Ray glanced coldly, unable to resist complaining to Winnie. "I think she's colder to Jeremy than you are to Lawrence. Hearing this, she didn't even react! She must not love Jeremy. What kind of woman is she?"
"You don't understand, Mr. Martin. Please stop insulting people."
Winnie was speechless. No wonder he lost Laura.
She walked to the car, seeing Olivia's pale, greenish eyelids through the glass, knowing her heart was far from calm.
Lynn's 'suicide' would surely bring Jeremy significant trouble.
The biggest consequence might be marrying Lynn.
