Chapter 152 Losing the Project

In the Perugia City police station

Lawrence R and his group sat on chairs in the interrogation hall. He was Lawrence R of the Lymington Rodriguez family, and no one dared to treat him as a real detainee.

But Mr. Lancelot's status meant that the police station couldn't afford to neglect him either.

The interrogation last night only took two hours.

For the remaining time, Lawrence R could only wait. He couldn't leave the police station to go to the hospital, and news from the hospital wasn't being delivered promptly either.

As the faint morning light poured in from outside, the whole night had passed.

Lawrence R's emotionless black eyes lifted coldly, and he once again looked toward the entrance of the police station.

His gaze was sharp like a knife, cold and somber.

Luke trembled in fear as he watched, another person arrived, but it was just a shareholder of the Kingdom Estates.

He knew what the CEO was waiting for, and he also knew what he was disappointed about.

"Last night, my father had already given up treatment. Fortunately, he managed to hang on and has successfully undergone surgery."

As soon as he said this, Lawrence R's tightly furrowed brow twitched, and his cold, intense expression relaxed a bit.

Darcy excitedly grasped his hand, "Mr. L! You're alright!"

Winnie watched their joined hands with a bitter feeling in her heart, silently happy for him. It was worth it for her to have risked everything last night.

The shareholders of the Kingdom Estates were just about to breathe a sigh of relief when Mr. Lancelot's son changed the topic abruptly.

"Father has awakened. I am here on his behalf to convey the outcome of the land bidding. He still holds a grudge over the mistake in your bidding proposal, although he was originally very fond of your five-star hotel project. However, he is afraid that the land will be given to another company."

The shareholders of the Kingdom Estates' faces turned pale.

Lawrence R remained composed and coldly apologized, "Mr. Lancelot is in critical condition, and I take responsibility for this matter. I will bear all the consequences! I will no longer bid for this piece of land, and the Kingdom Estates will not be involved in this project. I hope for his speedy recovery and will ensure that the best doctors take care of his future medical needs."

Mr. Lancelot's son was taken aback and couldn't help but look at Lawrence R again. This young man was quite impressive.

He nodded with a smile. "Mr. L, you have such courage and determination. No wonder you're the top figure in the Lymington business world. I've heard that your company has achieved success through your independent efforts... This time, the losses will likely exceed billions of dollars. I hope you can overcome these difficulties."

A few words, yet they concerned the life or death of a company.

Lawrence R responded, "Thank you."

Mr. Lancelot's son and his entourage then left.

The shareholders of the Kingdom Estates could no longer sit still. They feared Lawrence R's authority, but this project was crucial to the survival of the Kingdom Estates.

An angry shareholder stood up and pointed at Winnie, "CEO, Ms. Anderson was the one who prepared the bidding proposal. If she made a mistake, she should bear the responsibility alone. You should bring her to Mr. Lancelot and explain everything clearly. We cannot give up this piece of land!"

"That's right! It was all her fault. She was so irresponsible, leading to such a huge mistake on your part!"

"You trusted her too much, CEO!"

Winnie felt as if her face was being pierced by these words, and her heart ached. She didn't want to harm him.

The bidding proposal was flawless, without a single error, no matter how small.

But her uncle had used her, and she couldn't defend herself, let alone reveal the truth.

Lawrence R gazed at her with an icy shiver, remaining silent.

Darcy, however, stepped forward and spoke with a mixture of anger and worry, "Mrs. L, you are the CEO of Triton. Logically speaking, you wouldn't make a mistake in something as trivial as a bidding proposal, so Mr. L entrusted it to you. I'm not doubting you, but these errors in data are very unreasonable."

"Are you... dissatisfied with Mr. L?" Her seemingly casual remark planted a seed of doubt, causing the shareholders' expressions to change abruptly.

"CEO, is Ms. Anderson intentionally manipulating the data?" the shareholders angrily interrogated.

"Ms. Anderson, why did you sabotage the CEO and cause him to lose a major project?" they demanded angrily.

Winnie's eyes frosted over, her brows furrowing as she stared at Darcy, feeling that she was intentionally provoking a conversation. Did she know something?

The secret of her uncle seeking revenge...

Lawrence R's gaze turned sharp and cold as he locked eyes with Winnie, his dominant presence making her too afraid to meet his gaze.

A man with a cold demeanor and long legs approached, but in the end, he didn't ask her anything. His silence was a way of protecting her in front of the shareholders.

He coldly scanned her from head to toe and asked only one question in a low voice, "Where were you from last night until this morning, all throughout the night?"
