Chapter 589 Don't Marry Him
Olivia's words implied that she was different in Rock's heart now.
Olivia felt that Rock hated Lawrence R, so he must get her.
She thought carefully. Did she truly understand Rock? She had never loved him, never delved into his heart to observe him.
Perhaps Rock had entertained such notions. But now, she had no other choice.
Winnie felt that Olivia was being too sensitive. "Olivia, Rock just arrived in Trento City, and you made him rush over to conflict with Patrick, which is already difficult for him. Rock has his company and family to support. We don't know who is behind him, but from his standpoint, he definitely can't afford to offend anyone. If others don't help him, he won't be able to help me, that's a fact. I also said the conflict between me and Patrick shouldn't be shifted to him."
"I understand the reasoning. He saved you out of emotion, and we can't blame him for not being able to help us. But look at Lawrence R! When Lawrence R saved you, he never considered the pros and cons. He is indeed the number one Mr. Rodriguez in the country, not afraid of anyone's influence.
"But he used all his power to help you, even helped you get your hair back! I'm just saying, when a man truly loves you, he won't consider the consequences. Lawrence R has that kind of courage. This bastard can be really ruthless when he needs to be. But when he has emotions and loyalty, you really can't say anything bad about him!" Olivia wanted Winnie to understand what she was saying, that Rock was reserved.
But Lawrence R's care for Winnie had always been without reservation, as long as he wanted to protect Winnie.
Winnie's heart trembled, feeling deeply unsettled. She looked to Olivia with a sense of helplessness, expressing, "Olivia, perhaps you're letting emotions cloud your judgment. When someone risks their life for you during perilous times, you may believe it erases the harm they've caused. But those wounds, like nails, remain embedded in your heart, continually causing pain."
"And now, with Ishara pregnant with Lawrence R's child, is there any turning back? A gesture of saving a life is just that— a singular act. I've learned my lesson; I won't intertwine it with emotions anymore. We should be more rational. Lawrence R saved me, and that should not alter your opinion of him."
Olivia's excited mood instantly calmed down. She looked at Winnie with slightly red eyes. Ishara's pregnancy is a problem that can never be solved!
She exhaled coldly, "I didn't speak well of Lawrence R, Winnie! My will is very firm, it is the wisest decision for you to separate from him. I compared him with Rock, he has the courage of a man, backed by power, easily making women feel that he is a strong support. But Rock wins because he is cleaner and very good to you!
"Alright, I'm not trying to separate you and Rock, just make sure you think it through. Since it's a life-saving grace, just thank Lawrence R, don't owe him, you can still maintain a surface peace with him. In the future, when you each get married, for the sake of the children, you still need to interact."
Winnie is willing to maintain a surface peace with him. Just don't know if he is willing. There are many regrets between them.
Winnie nodded, "I know how to handle this matter, you go rest."
Olivia helped her dry her hair, went out and closed the door.
Night fell. Winnie sat at the desk, gazing at the small bag of hair before finally reaching for her phone and dialing his number.
In the silence, the ringtone seemed to magnify her heartbeat.
He answered swiftly, his voice low and hoarse, "Speak."
Winnie moved the phone slightly away, wary of being engulfed by his breath.
Holding her breath, she aimed to maintain a peaceful tone, "Thank you, Lawrence R. And thank you for Patrick's hair as well."
A heavy silence enveloped the atmosphere. His breathing sounded weighty and potent, cutting through the air with a chilly edge.
Just as Winnie contemplated ending the call without further ado, his cold voice pierced through, "Your hair burned, and you're so eager to settle the debt. A mere thank you, do you think that's sufficient?"
Winnie frowned. While that had been her intention, hearing it delivered so callously caused her cheeks to flush. "I didn't ask you to save me."
Lawrence R grew incensed, "Indeed, you made it clear in the note accompanying your hair that you didn't want my intervention. Consider this strand of hair a token of gratitude for the kiss in the box."
Winnie's cheeks turned pale as she gripped the phone tightly, understanding that this conversation could never end peacefully.
Her patience disappeared as she declared firmly, "Since it's a trade, then I take back my thanks. I'll treat it as being bitten by a dog; you won't have this chance in the future!"
Lawrence R's expression turned cold. "Are you really going to marry Rock?" His voice lowered, suddenly devoid of angry, reaching deep into Winnie's ears.
She stubbornly held onto the phone, gazing into the darkness. "Of course. Will Mr. Rodriguez bless me?" she questioned, her tone unwavering.
He heard his own intense heartache, his body shattered by her words, his eyes turning crimson.
Lawrence R angrily said, "Winnie, you're annoying. Do you really not know why I helped you get your hair back?"
Winnie understood some of the meanings he wanted to express, but she deliberately misinterpreted, "Who knows, Mr. Rodriguez, what's on your mind... You probably think that by taking Patrick's hair, I will be grateful to you. You stand on my side, you are against Ishara. She is pregnant with your child, who would believe that in the Blanchet family matter, you are helping me or helping her. I don't believe you."
At that moment, it seemed so difficult for him to be a good person in Winnie's eyes. She didn't believe him.
Lawrence R chuckled softly, the chill growing. "Olivia told me that you want to expose the ugly faces of Patrick and Ishara. That's what I want to do too. Believe it or not, I don't care."
Winnie was stunned, his heavy breath chillingly circling her ear. He still wanted to say that he had no feelings for Ishara, even though Ishara was carrying his child.
Quickly wiping away the tears in her eyes, Winnie changed the subject, "Lawrence R, my opinion of you doesn't matter. We can get along peacefully in the future. I will get married, and so will you. For the sake of the two children, maybe you should let me go."
Lawrence R's voice was very cold, full of sorrow as he spoke, "I will let you go, watch you get married, watch your belly swell with Rock's child."
Standing at the door of Leo's house, Lawrence R looked at Oscar sitting on the edge of the sofa, silent and sick.
He withdrew his gaze, along with truth he almost blurted out, and said harshly, "I won't get married. I will never marry anyone. If you get married, I will make you regret it. Winnie, don't marry Rock. I'm giving you one last chance, tell me!"
His eyes were crimson as he begged her.
Winnie's heart remained resolute; no matter what Lawrence R said, she refused to waver.
She couldn't bring herself to answer Lawrence R. "In that case, I have nothing more to say, Lawrence R. Even if you kill me, I won't fear you! If you don't want to get along peacefully, then we'll be enemies!"
