Chapter 827 Investment
Jeremy remained calm, curling his lips into a cold smirk as he glanced at her and said in a steady voice, "I'm going down to find Mia."
Olivia snapped back to reality, only to realize that Mia wasn't on the bed at all!
After he left, she quickly got up and went to the wardrobe to get dressed.
The wardrobe was by the window, and as soon as Olivia opened one of the doors, she suddenly heard a faint whimper from the windowsill, "Mommy, you pinched my finger!"
"Mia?" Olivia was completely taken aback and quickly closed the wardrobe door.
"It hurts so much." Mia's voice clearly came from outside the window.
"Mia! Where are you hiding?" Olivia angrily opened the window to look outside.
She saw Mia daringly hiding on the balcony, her small body teetering.
Olivia was scared to death!
"Mia, why are you hiding here? It's dangerous, don't you know that?"
This was the second floor. She fearfully brought Mia down.
"It's so cold." Mia had been outside in the cold wind for a long time, her little face shivering. Back in Olivia's arms, she tucked her head in, knowing she had done something wrong but unwilling to admit it.
She immediately found a reason, sighing, "Mommy, why are you like this? I hid myself, and you didn't even try to keep Jeremy. Sidney said that only if I hid, you two would have a chance to fall in love. I want a dad so badly that I had to sacrifice you a bit."
"Just date Jeremy! That way, when I go to preschool, no one will call me a fatherless child like they do Sidney and Oscar!"
Olivia's face turned completely dark.
She finally understood what had happened tonight.
The culprit was Mia; she had tricked Jeremy into coming up and then hid herself!
"You even schemed against me. Do you know he saw everything?" She glared at Mia, her face flushed, "Where did you learn this?"
"Oscar taught me."
"Oscar taught you to be this selfish?" Olivia couldn't believe it; Oscar was a good kid. "You can't sacrifice me just to have a dad. Besides, Jeremy and I are impossible. He has a fiancée; he can't be responsible for me. Mia, even if you set us up, it would just be me being taken advantage of, understand?"
"I don't understand. You're thinking too badly of people. Just now, I saw Jeremy was going to hit you, but in the end, he just threw you on the bed and didn't hit you."
"Mommy, I heard Jeremy say he wants to be responsible for you. Why do you still misunderstand him? I think Jeremy likes you a little bit!"
Mia squinted her eyes and smiled smugly.
Olivia was silent.
Ignoring Mia's nonsense about hitting her on the bed, Olivia held back her flushed face, her heart slightly fluttering, "He likes me a little bit?"
"Of course! Are you an adult or not? Can't you feel that?"
Olivia looked at Mia's disdainful face and felt confused herself.
Just now, in the heat of the moment, he seemed to have said he wanted to be responsible for her, provided they had actually made love.
He also said that if he had touched her, he wouldn't regret it and asked her how she knew he wasn't happy.
Could it be that he was happy after making love with her?
Wouldn't he see it as an inescapable trouble?
Did he like her or Lynn more? After all, Lynn was the woman who saved him three years ago, a significant event, and he had always considered Lynn his fiancée.
Could Jeremy's words on the bed be trusted?
Olivia held her face, lost in confused thought.
Just then, her phone rang. She picked it up; it was a message from Jeremy downstairs: [I couldn't find Mia. She's probably hiding in your room. Don't scold her, just put her to bed. I promised to take her to buy toys tomorrow. Goodnight.]
Olivia pursed her lips and read his message twice.
"Mommy, did Jeremy message you?" Mia leaned over.
Olivia glared at her, "You can't even read, what are you guessing?"
"I'm not guessing. Your lips are pouting. You only do that when you're both happy and angry with Jeremy."
Olivia was shocked. She had no idea she acted like this around Jeremy.
Embarrassed, she ran to the bathroom to look in the mirror. Why were the corners of her mouth turned up?
She read Jeremy's message again, reminding her not to scold Mia.
And he said, goodnight.
"Jeremy, you jerk, big jerk, master of the dating game." Olivia clutched her head in frustration, her thoughts in disarray. She didn't want to be swayed by his tricks; they were all ways to deceive women!
Rock gloomily stared at the injury report released by Winnie.
The news about him abusing Winnie had made the headlines this morning.
Winnie had also called the police, and now several officers were waiting outside.
For Rock, this wasn't a big deal; he could just ask Ronnie to handle the police.
This injury report was probably released by Lawrence to help Winnie!
Thinking about how they were still together openly after the affair was exposed, Rock's face turned icy.
However, Lawrence was now down and out, and this was all he could do.
If Lawrence had any means, he would have come after him long ago.
Rock wasn't worried about Lawrence being able to deal with him.
"Pack up, and call Ishara over. If Winnie doesn't respond, it means she's already given up on the Blanchet Group's current situation! She's about to surrender, and this is the perfect time for me to take charge of the company."
Rock stood up and instructed his assistant.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
The assistant went to open it, and to their surprise, Lysander from the Blanchet Group came in with a team of legal personnel!
"Lysander? Rare to see you. How's Winnie? Why didn't she come to see me herself, to beg me?" Rock smirked arrogantly.
Lysander instructed the legal team to lay down a contract and sneered, "Ms. Anderson is still recovering from the injuries you gave her! Regarding your desire to take charge of the Blanchet Group's real estate project, Ms. Anderson and the shareholders argued all day and finally came up with this investment contract. Mr. Harrington, see if you can accept it?"
"Investment?" Rock frowned darkly, "The contract Carlos signed is already in effect! What more investment do I need to make?"
