Chapter 639 Explaining Winnie's Whereabouts

Elliott's expression darkened. "Mr. Martin, I don't care if you know me or not, but I know you're here to bail out Lawrence. Let me tell you, your efforts will be in vain. This time, it won't be easy to take him away. You'd better persuade him to confess and reveal Winnie's whereabouts!"
"I know you, Mr. Granger. I will told Lawrence," Ray said, frowning.
"Sidney?" Elliott's peripheral vision caught the small figure hiding behind Ray.
Sidney trembled. "Great-uncle."
"Sidney, come here. Come with me." Elliott beckoned, looking guilty. "These days, Uncle Harrington and I have been constantly searching for your mommy, so we haven't had time to take you away."
Sidney glanced at the well-dressed Rock, leaning further behind Ray.
Avoiding Elliott's expectant gaze, Sidney said, "Great-uncle, I'm sorry."
"Do you still want to stay with Lawrence? He's already in trouble!" Elliott was somewhat agitated.
"Uncle Elliott, don't worry," Rock comforted Elliott, glancing at Sidney. "Sidney is at Winnie's villa, taken care of by a nanny under me. Once we find Winnie, Sidney will naturally come over."
His words made Elliott breathe easier. He looked at Sidney with concern. "Sidney, keep in touch with me."
"Okay, great-uncle."
Rock supported Elliott as they left, his cold gaze sweeping over Ray.
Ray furrowed his brow, also glancing at Rock a few times.
Ray hadn't interacted with Rock before, but his presence was strong now, often appearing in financial magazines. Especially recently, with the Harrington Group moving to Trento City as one of the top five enterprises there, Rock was just named a renowned entrepreneur last week!
Ray's previous impression of him was that he was gentle and elegant, always smiling at everyone. But today, Rock, dressed in an all-black suit, had a cold and fierce aura under the sunlight.
Ray had a feeling that this Rock was not simple at all compared to three years ago.
"Ray," Benjamin called him.
Ray withdrew his gaze and strode inside.
After negotiations, Sidney was not allowed to visit Lawrence. Benjamin stayed outside with him.
Ten minutes later, Ray met Lawrence sitting expressionless across from him in the interrogation room.
Ray observed the bloodshot in his eyes and sighed. "Lawrence, I don't have much influence here in Trento City. Bryan went to plead with the Jenkins family, and we had to go through a lot of trouble just to see you."
"The Peterson family is putting pressure, aren't they?" Lawrence's handsome face was gloomy, a trace of self-mockery flashing by. He couldn't believe that he had stooped to the extent of requiring Bentley's aid to extricate himself.
"Yes, the Peterson family and Mars want nothing more than to see you destroyed in prison. They are the top family now. Even Uncle Anday and the Jenkins family don't dare to confront them easily. To be honest, if you don't cooperate with me this time, I won't be able to bail you out."
Lawrence's dark eyelashes lowered, hiding the coldness in his eyes. After a long while, he furrowed his brows, forced a smile and asked, "Cooperating with the police means telling them Winnie's whereabouts, right?"
Ray paused, avoiding the bitter smile on his lips. He looked away. "It's a fact that you kidnapped Winnie. None of them, including Rock and Elliott, and the employees of Eternity Jewelry, can contact Winnie. Rock didn't report it before. But now, with the Rodriguez Group in trouble and the Rodriguez family facing internal and external crises, Rock and Elliott, along with all the employees of Eternity Jewelry, have reported it to the police. Rock is no longer afraid of you."
Lawrence's knuckles almost cracked, veins bulging. On that fateful night on the island, he had foreseen this day would come. That's why he had kissed her so painfully, lingeringly taking one last look at her, fearing that he might never be able to keep her again.
"Lawrence, just tell them. Winnie's been missing for a month, and her family can't bear it any longer. Besides, you can't hide her forever; that would be a great harm to her as well. What I want to say is, do you think Rock can go back to the way things were with her after she spent an entire month with you?" Ray struck at his most sensitive spot, trying to persuade him. "We're all men. A man will definitely mind deep down. Rock won't be able to live with Winnie with that thorn in his heart. Not to mention, I've seen a lot of people mocking him online these days; he can't endure that kind of humiliation."
Lawrence's tightly clenched jaw moved slightly.
Seeing this, Ray quickly added, "Even if you don't want to make a choice, you have to think about the Rodriguez family. Right now, the Rodriguez family is in disarray. Do you know that Sean was beaten into a man with mental disability by Mars? Your father hasn't woken up from a stroke, your grandmother is eighty years old, and the Rodriguez Group still has to pay compensation for the chip breach. Uncle Anday can't hold the fort. As for Jeremy, you need to get out to find his whereabouts."
Lawrence seemed to be suddenly awakened to reason. He abruptly looked up, a flash of the same color in his eyes. "I owe Jeremy."
"Apology won't help. Finding him is more important!"
Lawrence forced a moment of clarity, remained silent for a few seconds, and suddenly asked, "What about Olivia? Has she come? I want to see her."
"Olivia and her daughter were injured a few days ago and are still in the hospital. She wants to see you too. She definitely knows something about Jeremy. Because a few days ago, it was Jeremy who saved them when they were attacked."
Lawrence pressed his lips together, closing his eyes tightly. "Alright, I'll tell you Winnie's whereabouts." He didn't know how he managed to utter those words. But Jeremy got into trouble because of him, and the Rodriguez family company suffered because of him. He couldn't ignore it; he had to save them. In the conflict between love and the responsibility he had to bear, he once again failed Winnie and himself.
"I know you're in pain, but this is also a kind of obsession. Think it through. As long as Winnie is alive, there is the opportunity to win her back? But if you don't keep the foundation of the Rodriguez family, you'll fail to fight Rock."
Ray's words provoked him, and Lawrence's pupils darkened, becoming confused. He had always been strategic in the business world, and this time, the chip had been successfully developed, but Sean turned out to be the traitor. In an instant, it was suddenly as if all the swords were aimed at him. The Peterson family's conspiracy had been brewing for far too long. When he first suspected the Peterson family, he shouldn't have been careless about Mars and Rock.
Lawrence clenched his fists tightly.
On the island, the midday sun shone on the palm trees. Winnie wandered around the island, looking for an opportunity to escape, but she was clearly distracted. Lawrence had been gone for more than a day. Logically, she should have felt relieved, eating and sleeping well, no longer worrying about him forcibly seducing her into bed. But last night, she had tossed and turned. Winnie wondered if she had been traumatized; otherwise, why would she think of the look in Lawrence's eyes when he left, so dark and heavy. She was wondering if something had happened to him.
