Chapter 61 Stimulating Her
The man's piercing gaze seemed capable of penetrating through anything, and Darcy's instinctive impulse to impersonate instantly subsided.
His ring was only half there; evidently, he had given the other half to the girl as a token, and she had no evidence of that missing half.
She hesitated to speak, giving the man room for imagination, returned the ring, and sighed with a melancholic smile. "It's nothing, Mr. L."
L took back the half ring, furrowed his brows, and glanced at the rearview mirror. Was she making a call to Olivia?
He smiled lightly and turned the steering wheel with his large hand.
Upon seeing the Bentley suddenly turn ahead, Winnie promptly ended her call with Olivia.
Olivia snuck into the Imperial Company; she had just seen someone in the CEO's elevator, possibly 'Lawrence R,' and she was heading there to confirm.
Only ten minutes remained until they reached the Hot Spring Resort.
Darcy suddenly spoke dejectedly, seemingly unaware, "Mr. L, the way you tease Mrs. L with that smile on your face, I actually envy her."
L's expression froze.
Before he could say a word, she panicked, immediately offering an innocent apology. "I'm sorry, Mr. L. I didn't mean it in that way. I misspoke just now; I couldn't help but feel envious..."
L remained silent; his gaze cold as he looked at her. His words carried a heavy tone, "Darcy, I believe I made myself clear to you a long time ago. I only see you as a sister!"
"I know, I know. You only do it to appease the elders..." Darcy concealed the pain in her eyes, composed herself with a brave smile.
"Since you and Miss Anderson got married, I've put away those childish fantasies. I see you as a brother now. I take my work seriously and won't cause you any trouble. Please, Mr. L, don't drive me away, okay? I swear, I'm looking for a boyfriend too. There just isn't anyone suitable right now. Mr. L, you can't force me into a rushed marriage, can you?"
She said this, feeling both disappointed and feigning strength, effectively shutting down any argument he might have had.
L could ignore her obedience and humble demeanor, but he knew very well that he couldn't touch her due to the interests of the family.
After parking the car, he spoke sternly, "Today, you indeed misspoke! I don't want to hear any more misconceptions. Show professionalism in your work."
"Yes, Mr. L." Darcy stood upright. "In fact, in a different role, I also worry about your relationship with Mrs. L, just like Benjamin. I noticed your awkwardness earlier. Are you having conflicts with Mrs. L?"
L looked at her. "That's none of your concern."
He got out of the car. The red sedan from afar also parked. Darcy followed, walking behind the man. As she caught sight of Winnie searching for the man, Darcy suddenly hooked her arm with his.
L's expression turned cold. "Darcy, what are you doing?"
Darcy got closer to him and quickly pointed back.
"Look, Mrs. L. is looking at you. Mr. L, in fact, to know whether a woman is interested in you or not, you can determine her feelings in a very simple way. "
"Really, I can help you with a little acting, I mean it!" Darcy smiled understandingly.
L had a cold expression as he contemplated refusing, but suddenly he saw that the woman's face immediately stiffened and turned pale, even showing signs of anger after seeing him with a woman in his arms.
L's thoughts shifted, and a smirk formed at the corner of his lips. This woman had been pushing him away all along, not even allowing him into her bedroom.
He wanted to see if she could remain indifferent. He glanced at Darcy and thought, perhaps, this was actually a good idea. He did not push Darcy away again.
Winnie saw L getting off the car with a woman, leaving her stunned.
Did he not notice that she was following him at all? What a scumbag, bringing a subordinate woman to the Hot Spring Resort for leisure? Last time, that female secretary getting fired was just his act, he has plenty of women around him!
Winnie suddenly felt angry and disappointed, as if a fishbone was stuck in her chest.
Feeling sour and uncomfortable, she hardly thought and immediately revealed herself.
Winnie rushed to the man's front and, seeing the woman closely pressed against him, raised an eyebrow and asked with a playful smile, "What a coincidence, L, who are you strolling with? Anyone who doesn't know might mistake her for your fiancée."
"Winnie, why are you here?" The man seemed to have just noticed her and frowned as he asked.
He was displeased! He must have been disturbed in his good news.
Winnie chuckled, "I came to soak in the hot springs, who knew I would be so lucky as to see you in a pair!"
Winnie then looked up and glanced at the woman, but found herself slightly stunned.
This was a very beautiful subordinate, with a gentle temperament, almond-shaped eyes, and obedient brows. She was not inferior to herself. The faint air of elegance hinted that she might not be just L's subordinate. Once a woman is professional and beautiful, she becomes very attractive.
Winnie suddenly felt a strong threat.
At this moment, the woman affectionately tugged at the man's arm and coquettishly asked, "Mr. L, do you know this young lady? Who is she?"
Another woman calling him Mr. L, how many good friends does he have? Winnie clenched her dress tightly, her almond-shaped eyes shining as she looked at him.
However, the Mr. L said, "Just a one-year servant from home. Darcy, you go buy the tickets."
"So, she's a maid from home," the woman laughed, "Hello there, little maid."
"...,” Winnie's lips twitched with a hint of sarcasm.
Darcy went to buy the tickets.
The man stood there with his hands in his pockets, still wearing his usual white shirt and black trousers.
Today, he was rare to wear a suit vest, making him even more handsome and refined, attracting the attention of many female tourists.
But Winnie had no time to appreciate it, as she was filled with anger.
What? A maid from home? Winnie fake smiled and sarcastically said, "Mr. L, having an affair outside and calling your wife a maid..."
“Good job, Winnie!” The man's expressionless face responded, "Since you said we have no relationship and it expires in a year, my metaphorical description is not wrong. Besides, do you care? Don't you want to keep our distance and do our own thing?"
"..." Winnie struggled to breathe.
She never expected the man to become so cold and heartless. Why then did he flirt with her? Always taking advantage of her and kissing her.
The man looked at her lowered head, her soft hair gently falling over her fragrant and delicate shoulders, revealing two blushing ears. His thin lips couldn't help but curl up.
He raised an eyebrow and deliberately introduced, "The one just now is my subordinate, the branch manager, quite capable!"
"Really?" Winnie's lips curled downwards. She used to be a manager too, and now he was praising someone else in front of her, making it seem intentional.
"What do you think of Darcy?"
"What do you mean?" Winnie asked stiffly.
His ink-black eyes sparked as he praised, "She's capable, and beautiful too, right?"
Winnie's mind pricked slightly. She chuckled softly, "Yes, she's very beautiful, though I don't know where her strengths lie to impress Mr. L."
