Chapter 897 Lynn's Suicide

Seeing Jeremy asleep, Ray sighed quietly. He wanted to call Winnie to get some insight into Olivia's situation, feeling there was a big misunderstanding between Jeremy and Olivia.

But just thinking about Winnie's harsh demeanor made Ray shiver, so he decided against it.

Bryan mentioned that Winnie seemed to be arranging work for the Blanchet Group and planned to visit Lymington soon.

Apparently, she was investigating the parentage between Sam and Mia...

What was Winnie up to?

Ray was taken aback the first time he saw Mia because she looked so much like Jeremy, especially her deep-set eyes and nose, which were unusually defined for a baby.

However, since Jeremy himself didn't think Mia could be his daughter, Ray dismissed his doubts.

In the middle of the night, Ray transported Jeremy to his own apartment, leaving the reeking Jeremy behind to take a shower himself.

At the stroke of midnight, a phone call suddenly rang through the room.

Jeremy was jolted awake.

With a splitting headache, Jeremy irritably tore off his black shirt and fished out the incessantly ringing phone from his pocket, throwing it aside.

But it didn't break, and the ringing continued to pierce his eardrums.

His bloodshot eyes opened, filled with coldness. He eventually rolled off the bed, picked up the damned phone, and looked at the caller ID. Jeremy froze, sobering up a bit.

It was a call from Lymington, the DeRoss Villa!

While he was away on business, the DeRoss Family, led by Louis, respected his privacy and rarely called him.

Jeremy raised his hand, his long fingers pressing hard against his brow, preparing to answer the call.

"Hello."

"Mr. DeRoss, are you able to take this call?" The butler recognized his hoarse voice.

Jeremy steadied himself against the bed, his long legs standing up, "What's the matter?"

The butler's tone was grave, "There's been a major incident, Mr. Jeremy! Ms. Smith attempted suicide at the Smith Villa and was rushed to Lymington General Hospital for emergency surgery. She's still in the operating room...

Ms. Smith's parents came to the DeRoss Villa in the middle of the night, causing a scene. This incident alarmed Mr. Louis DeRoss, who rushed home upon hearing the news. Ms. Smith's parents were crying, demanding that Mr. Louis DeRoss compensate them for their daughter!

Lynn's suicide has caused a huge uproar in Lymington, with reporters staking out the hospital at night.

Now Mr. DeRoss is furious with you, ordering you to return to the DeRoss Villa before dawn, no matter where you are!"

Jeremy's drunkenness vanished completely, his mind still steady but feeling as if doused with ice water.

His narrow eyes widened, cold waves emanating, "Lynn attempted suicide?"

"Yes! Mr. DeRoss, it seems Ms. Smith returned home alone today, saying you didn't want her anymore. She tried for half a month, but you still wanted to break off the engagement and push her away.

The Smith Family blamed her for being incompetent, beating and scolding her before kicking her out.

Then, the news of Ms. Smith's miscarriage three years ago, which left her infertile, suddenly leaked in Lymington, becoming a scandal.

This incident has caused a huge commotion, with many people mocking the Smith Family.

"Lynn couldn't take it anymore. Her parents said she'd never find a match again, probably driving her to despair. Ms. Smith attempted suicide in her apartment.

I don't know the details, but Mr. DeRoss wants me to ask you, was Ms. Smith's miscarriage back then because of you?

Mr. DeRoss is very angry!

He says you've disgraced the family and committed a grave mistake. You need to come back immediately!"

The butler's words were incessant, and Jeremy's headache intensified, his handsome face growing colder.

He had planned to finish his business in Lawrence and return to Lymington to discuss with Louis about the matter of ending his engagement.

He had countless ways to silence the Smith Family.

But Lynn... acted first.

Suicide? What nerve!

But thinking of Louis... Jeremy's expression hardened. Louis usually didn't interfere, but anyone who violated the strict family rules of the DeRoss Family would find no mercy in his eyes.

The DeRoss Family's reputation... even Jeremy feared it.

"I understand." His tone was now clear, standing upright.

"Ms. Smith is in critical condition, and the situation is spiraling out of control. You need to hurry."

The butler hung up.

Jeremy stood rigidly, facing the moonlight outside the window, his sharp jawline cold as frost.

Ray emerged from the shower and suddenly saw Jeremy, who had been drunk as a skunk, standing abruptly at the bedroom door, his eyes vacant.

"Damn, you scared the hell out of me!"

Ray cursed, frowning as he approached, sensing something was wrong, "Jeremy, why are you suddenly awake?"

"I need to go to Lymington."

"What?" Ray was stunned, pointing at Jeremy's disheveled state, "Now? Are you sleep-talking?"

"Lynn attempted suicide." Jeremy glanced at him, picking up his dirty jacket from the sofa.

Ray was completely bewildered.

As Jeremy was heading out, his steps were unsteady yet urgent, and his long legs repeatedly bumped into things.

Ray quickly caught up, "Is this for real? Who told you this? Are you sleepwalking..."

The phone rang again, this time like a heavy hammer, striking the quiet room.

Jeremy glanced at the caller ID, thinking it was the DeRoss Family's butler again, "Dax."

"It's me!"

Jeremy's sharp features changed color, and his authoritative and calm voice pressed down from above. He slowly spoke, "Dad."

"You have one hour to show up." Louis's voice was filled with unprecedented anger.

Jeremy recognized it.

Even Ray, standing nearby, heard it clearly. He moved his thin lips, frowning, "You... better hurry back."

Jeremy pressed his aching head, the pain intense.

Ray thought he was afraid of Louis. Honestly, thirty years ago in Lymington, Louis was a fearsome figure, with few daring to breathe easily under his watch.

The DeRoss Family's reputation wasn't just talk.

After a brief silence, both men were in a frenzy.

Ray ran out, "Right, a helicopter, I'll get one from Lawrence's company! What's Lynn up to? You'd better go check it out. How could you not deal with her earlier... You and Lawrence are always letting women mess things up."

Jeremy pursed his lips, thinking Lynn wouldn't dare challenge him.

Unexpectedly, she did, first stirring up the DeRoss Family and dragging Louis into it.

Dare to play tricks with him?

Jeremy clenched his fists, coldly glancing at Ray, taking a moment to mock, "At least you didn't let Darcy mess things up."
