Chapter 250 The Covenant with Alan.
"I didn't even say she was pretty; how do you know?" Sidney snapped, making Luke chuckle.
"..." Sidney rolled his eyes and retorted, "Do you take me for a three-year-old? And human traffickers? That was clearly a nurse infatuated with you!"
Lawrence R's mouth twitched as he glanced at Sidney, not saying a word but tugging at his tie.
Luke knew this was Mr. Rodriguez's way of relaxing, but Sidney, the little blockhead, hadn't suspected it was his mommy.
Luke chuckled, "Sidney, have you forgotten that you're the easiest to fool at three and a half?"
"..." Sidney pouted when his age was exposed, trying to act more mature. For some reason, Lawrence R sneezed a few times.
Sidney looked over and casually expressed concern, "Close the window for him; this old guy is getting worse."
"..." Luke shivered. Sidney, your dad just finished seeing a urologist with your mom. He's sensitive to words like 'worse.'
Sure enough, Mr. Rodriguez's face turned completely dark, and he glanced over, saying, "You've been quite talkative today. Should I throw you out?"
Sidney reluctantly shut his mouth.
He felt that his dad was burdened with concerns today, feeling unhappy. Maybe he got scolded for sneezing? He wanted to comfort him.
Clearly, this father-son relationship was tense and not very effective. Sidney snorted.
Winnie parked the car and received a text message on her phone. It was from Olivia, and it said, "Winnie, is that you?"
Last night, she had called Olivia, but it was from an unknown number since her old number from three years ago had been deactivated. So Olivia had been hesitant to answer?
Winnie's emotions inexplicably stirred, biting her lip as she repeated this sentence in her mind. Olivia's tone seemed calm, but could it really be?
Winnie sniffed and another urgent call from Alan came in.
She hung up and replied anxiously to Olivia, "Yes, Olivia, it's me. I'm back, and I must see you today."
Then, she put her phone in her bag and furrowed her brows as she entered the private room of the restaurant.
Alan reclined in his chair and when he saw the woman coming in, a trace of astonishment flashed in his eyes. He briefly looked her up and down, whistling,
"Looks like you've recovered well. You were so stunning even before you were pregnant. It wasn't in vain for me to jump off the ship three years ago to save you."
"Keep your vulgar gaze to yourself, Alan." Winnie snapped.
Winnie sat down, feeling a wave of irony wash over her. Years ago, while she was holding Oscar and jumping into the sea, Alan was leisurely fishing on a yacht in the bay.
She struggled for two hours, and although he probably noticed her early on, he only rescued her when she was at the brink of death.
Upon waking up, Winnie immediately asked Alan why he had chosen to save her. Alan smirked mischievously and came up with a far-reaching plan.
"Keeping you alive and using you as a weapon to deal with Lawrence R in the future would be the most satisfying thing," he said.
Even she had to admit, it was quite twisted.
After returning to China, Winnie briefly looked into it and found that the market value of the Imperial Group had plummeted by billions of dollars.
Over the past three years, Lawrence R had cornered the Rodriguez family, and the group that Alan snatched from him had become a joke that Lymington loved to mock Alan with.
If he didn't find a way out soon, he was bound for a dead end...
At present, Alan was contemplating one opportunity, extending a contract to her. "Join Imperial officially as a jewelry designer, with a good salary. Just follow my orders when it comes to taking orders," he said.
Winnie wasn't stupid and sneered, "You see me as a live target. Even if I join Imperial, I can cause trouble for some people, right?"
"Silent understanding is best, why speak it out loud? Don't you want to make Lawrence R suffocate?" Alan said wickedly.
"You have no choice. Three years ago, I saved you. Besides, I'm giving you a platform for revenge! Let's work together and hollow out that bitch couple's business empire. Don't you want to pay them back for how they treated you?"
Winnie gave him a disdainful look; she could clearly see through his blatant exploitation. But why not take advantage of it?
First, she couldn't refuse this contract. Second, coming back, she did want to disturb certain people. This was a platform for her to wreak havoc.
A faint, indifferent smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she picked up the pen and signed the contract.
Alan looked surprised, then burst into laughter, playfully holding her chin.
"I never realized you hated him so much. Should I consider marrying you? I have to say, my older brother has a venomous eye for women, and you're shining now."
Winnie poked his hand with the pen, unmistakably disgusted. "I'm not interested in you. I haven't avenged my uncle's grudge against you yet."
"Good memory, how boring!" Alan retracted his hand, returning to his original position.
Winnie's mouth twitched. Alan was undeniably wicked, but also a bit peculiar. His business skills were clearly lacking; otherwise, he wouldn't have suffered such a collapse over the past three years.
It was hard to tell how much he cared about the Imperial Group, but his demeanor hinted at his unconventional and worldly ways.
Winnie couldn't help but inquire, "Why do you hate him so much? Why do you have to deal with him?"
Alan squinted his eyes and sighed helplessly. "Who doesn't want to be an idle wanderer? But circumstances do not allow..."
"My father doesn't like him. He doesn't allow him to be the heir. Because of that, I have no choice but to succeed and beat him once? Fucking hell, I've never won against him.” Alan continued.
“He grew up in the mud while I lived a privileged life. But the elders in the family only recognize his abilities!"
Winnie blinked and replied, "Why doesn't your father like him? After all, Lawrence R is his son as well, right?"
Alan paused for a moment and grimaced,
"It's rumored that when Madam Rodriguez married my father, she didn't follow the proper conduct. My old man has always suspected Lawrence R's background. The relationship between my old man and Madam Rodriguez is extremely bad, so of course he hates Lawrence R and takes it out on me and my mother."
Winnie frowned at his gloating expression. The thought of Madam Rodriguez made her slightly uncomfortable, but she reminded herself that these matters concerning the Rodriguez family and that man were no longer her concern.
Why should she care? She returned to the main topic indifferently,
"I can work at Imperial and take orders from you. I won't reject any task. But I have a condition: I want to privately acquire Eternity Jewelry Co., Ltd. So You'll have to bleed for me—"
"Are you serious? Is Rock not your pursuer? You protect him but make him contribute nothing?" Alan disdainfully looked at her.
"You said it yourself, I protect him, and I didn't force you to slaughter any pigs," Winnie replied, leaning back against the chair and smirking.
Alan's face turned blue, but then he suddenly grinned, "Isn't the Triton Asset Auction tomorrow night? Alright, be my companion, and I'll pay the price for you."
Winnie sensed his hidden intentions; this guy was up to no good. She didn't refuse and put the contract into her bag. She casually said, "Then send the dress to my apartment."
As she took a few steps away, she turned back again,
"By the way, Lawrence R is not allowing me to be his doctor. He'll probably suppress my medical license. You need to figure out a way to protect me."
Alan burst into laughter, looking at her with great interest, "Whether you're a doctor or not isn't important. The main point is, can you rekindle his interest?"
Winnie frowned. As he approached, his tone becoming suggestive,
"Isn't your uncle facing the death penalty? If I were you, I would make him infatuated with you again, achieving various goals and driving Darcy crazy. Then, when he's completely obsessed, crush him mercilessly and let them experience the despair you've gone through!"
Winnie froze for a moment, her eyes flickering. "Stop giving me your absurd ideas. I won't sell myself, how boring."
Alan shrugged, unconvinced. "You seem a bit tempted. When you're stuck, you'll realize it's a good idea!"
He continued, "Remember when you had me arrange two bodies hidden by the seaside to deceive Darcy's investigation? She fully believed it. She probably doesn't even know you're back. So, what kind of surprise are you planning for her?"
At the mention of that woman, Winnie clenched her fist. A subtle curve formed at the corner of her mouth.
