Chapter 109 Who Made Margaret Angry
Annie snapped out of it after getting bombarded with questions by those nosy reporters, shooting daggers at Margaret.
This was all Margaret's doing! Margaret had shoved that glass of red wine at her, making her look like a fool in front of everyone.
"Margaret, you snake! You set me up!" Annie yelled, jumping up and aiming a slap at Margaret. But before she could land it, a big hand grabbed her and shoved her to the ground.
Annie looked up and saw Bruce standing there. Bruce's blue eyes were filled with pure disgust. "Annie, what you did is beyond disappointing! How could you and this guy be so shameless?"
Annie panicked at Bruce's accusations. How did this happen? Even Bruce saw her with that blond dude.
"It's not like that, Bruce. Let me explain. I don't even know him," Annie blurted out.
"Sweetheart, how can you say you don't know me?" The blond guy was annoyed, slowly getting up from the sofa. "Don't you love me? You said you'd marry me."
The blond guy had been paid to insist in front of everyone that he and the woman in the room were lovers. He didn't know Margaret, so he thought Annie was the woman.
At this moment, the blond guy started acting, wrapping his arm around Annie. "Sweetheart, don't be shy. We're adults. It's normal for couples to be close. It's not shameful."
"I don't know you. Let go of me!" Annie pushed the blond guy away, almost in tears.
"Margaret! It's Margaret! She set me up!" Annie, looking a mess, got up and pointed at Margaret. "Margaret drugged me! I don't even know this guy!"
The reporters there caught onto that word. It seemed the situation was more complicated. But with Bruce and William around, no one dared to ask.
Lucy got what was going on. Annie must've slipped up somewhere, and Margaret caught on. So, Margaret made Annie drink the drugged wine, leading to this mess. Annie was so useless! She messed up such a simple thing!
"Margaret, you snake, you set me up!" Annie, like a madwoman, tried to go after Margaret. But Bruce stepped in front of Margaret first, frowning and asking, "Annie, why would Margaret set you up? Weren't you here to apologize to Margaret tonight?"
Annie's eyes flickered. "Yes, I came to apologize to Margaret, but she plotted against me!"
"Annie, enough." Margaret sneered coldly. "Ever heard of 'reaping what you sow'?"
Annie had already been punished, and Margaret hadn't wanted to say more at first. But now, Annie refused to repent and even falsely accused her of drugging, so Margaret wouldn't hold back.
With a cold look in her eyes, Margaret continued. "You pretended to apologize to me but drugged the wine, trying to set me up. Too bad your plan backfired."
"You're lying! I didn't!" Annie shouted, losing it. She planned to stick to her story and directly accuse Margaret of drugging her.
"Check it out! This is your online purchase record for the aphrodisiac." Margaret threw the evidence in Annie's face.
After making Annie drink the red wine, Margaret had Anthony dig into Annie's purchase records, and bingo, they found it.
The reporters saw Annie's online shopping history and couldn't help but look at her with disdain.
"So it really was Annie. I never expected that."
"How despicable. Luckily, Margaret didn't fall for it!"
Faced with the crowd's chatter, Annie's face turned dark. She opened her mouth to say something but couldn't get a word out.
"Annie, today's mess is all on you. You brought this on yourself!" Margaret said before turning and walking away. She didn't want to stay in that place for another second.
William took a long stride and followed. "Margaret, where are you headed?"
"Home," Margaret said flatly. After a whole night of chaos, she felt a bit worn out.
"I'll go with you," William said in a deep voice.
"Why would you come with me?" Margaret laughed coldly, her tone mocking. "Aren't you supposed to be dancing with Lucy?"
William chuckled, his voice low and deep. "Margaret, you're jealous."
"I'm not." Margaret glared at William.
At that moment, the elevator arrived. A strong hand grabbed her waist, pulling Margaret into the elevator.
"What are you doing?" Margaret took a step back, warily eyeing the man in front of her.
William took a long stride, closing in on Margaret, and raised an eyebrow. "Margaret, you are jealous."
"Don't be so full of yourself." Margaret rubbed her temples and looked away.
"Why can't you face your feelings?" William placed his hands on the elevator walls, trapping Margaret inside. The elevator space was so small that William entirely surrounded Margaret.
The atmosphere was slightly awkward.
With a ding, the elevator reached the first floor, breaking the tension. The elevator doors opened automatically, and Margaret quickly pushed William away. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Stepping out of the elevator, Margaret turned back to William and said, "You should go back. I have something to do."
"It's so late. What do you have to do?" William squinted his eyes slightly.
Margaret raised the corners of her lips and said coldly, "That's none of your business. Don't follow me."
After saying that, Margaret walked to the door and hailed a cab. Watching the cab drive away, William's eyes darkened involuntarily. It's already so late. Where was she going?
Sitting in the cab, Margaret felt inexplicably irritable. She took out her phone and sent a text to Juniper: [Come with me to Enigma bar for a drink.]
When Margaret arrived, Juniper was already waiting for her. "Over here!" Juniper waved at Margaret.
Margaret sat down next to Juniper. "Give me a cocktail."
Juniper handed Margaret a glass, smiling. "Margaret, what's wrong? Bad mood?"
"Nothing." Margaret downed the drink in one gulp.
The dim bar lights cast shadows on Margaret's face. Under the dim light, her tan skin and delicate features appeared mysterious and melancholic.
Juniper poured another cocktail for Margaret. "Let me guess who made our Margaret angry. Was it William?"
