Chapter 156 Let's Get Engaged First

"It was me who prepared them." William raised an eyebrow, eyeing the shocked woman. "I handpicked each bouquet. You dig 'em?"

Margaret furrowed her delicate brows, giving William a puzzled look. "William, you got that much free time on your hands?"

William reached out and rubbed her brow, his handsome face playing up a slightly hurt expression. "Didn't you say you wanted romance?"

A trace of helplessness flickered in Margaret's beautiful eyes. "Flowers? Really? That's so played out."

"Played out?" William's deep eyes twinkled with a smile. "No worries if flowers ain't your thing. There's more."

"More?" Margaret was taken aback. 'What else has this guy cooked up?'

William stood up, took a step forward to stand in front of Margaret, and grabbed her hand. "Come with me."

He led Margaret to the window and pointed outside. "Check it out."

Margaret followed William's direction and looked outside, only to see darkness.

"What's so interesting about—" Before Margaret could finish her sentence, suddenly, on the beach, hundreds of candles lit up in an instant, forming the shape of two stars connected by Cupid's arrow. The candle flames flickered in the wind, changing colors, creating a stunning scene.

Suddenly, the candles dimmed and then relit, this time spelling out: [Margaret, marry me!]

Seeing Margaret staring at the beach in shock, William wrapped his arm around her waist, grinning. "Ain't this a bit romantic?"

Margaret snapped back to reality, holding her forehead as she spoke, "This is even more cliché."

"Oh, don't rush. There's more." William reached out and pointed to the sky.

Margaret quickly stopped him. "Alright, enough with the tricks."

Just as she finished speaking, countless brilliant fireworks lit up the night sky, almost lighting up the sea. At the same time, William, like a magician, pulled out a red heart-shaped velvet ring box from his pocket, knelt on one knee, looked up, and gazed deeply at the woman in front of him. "Margaret, this is for you."

His deep eyes were filled with infinite tenderness.

"Alright, get up first." Margaret barely smiled and reached out to pull William up forcefully.

For a proud guy like William to rack his brains for so many romantic gestures, he must be really sincere. Being pampered by him like this, it was impossible not to feel touched and happy.

Margaret's heart felt a sweet sensation, spreading throughout her body. However, marriage was out of the question. She hadn't thought about getting married so soon.

She thought for a moment and said seriously, "William, your proposal barely passes. But I haven't thought about getting married so soon."

"Why?" William slightly furrowed his handsome brows. "Not romantic enough?"

Margaret pursed her lips. "It's not about romance. We've only known each other for a little over a month and don't know each other well enough. Besides, who gets married without even dating first?"

Margaret figured that since they were into each other and had made it official, they should just enjoy the ride and let marriage come naturally. She had just agreed to date him and wasn't ready to jump straight into marriage.

"I get it," William whispered in her ear, "If you don't wanna get hitched right away, I won't push. But how about we get engaged first? For real this time."

His warm breath tickled her neck, making Margaret's face flush. Before she could say anything, William suddenly grabbed her hand. Feeling a slight chill, Margaret looked down to see William quickly slipping a beautiful ring onto her finger.

"What are you doing?" Margaret examined the ring, feeling a bit stunned. Under the light, the ring sparkled, with a large, exquisite diamond shining brightly, almost blinding her.

"This is the Fisher family heirloom. My grandpa wanted me to give it to my future wife, and now I'm giving it to you." William smiled, his deep eyes softening as he pulled her into his arms.

Nestled in William's arms, Margaret's heart raced. After a moment of thought, she nodded. "Alright, as you said, let's get engaged first."

Actually, Xavier and Bradley had already arranged their engagement, but that was just a verbal agreement between the two grandfathers, and Margaret and William didn't know each other at the time. Now, it was their own decision.

Seeing the woman in his arms nod in agreement, William's deep eyes flashed with a different color. "Margaret, I'm willing to wait until you're ready to marry me."

"Then you might have to wait a long time." Margaret's face blushed uncontrollably.

"Don't make me wait too long." William chuckled softly and lowered his head to kiss her.

The next day was the weekend, and William took Margaret back to the Fisher Manor to visit Bradley.

"Mr. Fisher, Ms. Scott." James opened the door and, seeing William and Margaret, greeted them respectfully.

William asked indifferently, "Where's my grandpa?"

"He's in the study." James led them to the study and knocked on the door. "Sir, Mr. William Fisher and Ms. Scott are here."

"Come in." Bradley's voice came from the study.

William pushed the door open and saw Bradley practicing calligraphy in the study. He walked up and said, "Grandpa."

Bradley put down his pen. "William, Margaret, you're here."

Margaret saw that Bradley's complexion had improved a lot and smiled as she asked with concern, "Is your health okay?"

Bradley stroked his beard and said something surprising, "William, when do you and Margaret plan to get married?"

Well, it seemed that the Fishers were all impatient when it came to marriage.

Margaret quickly said, "We don't plan to get married so soon."

Bradley furrowed his brows and was about to say something when William's magnetic voice sounded. "Grandpa, Margaret and I will get engaged first."
