Chapter 216 Margaret Falls into the Water
"Mia, what the hell are you doing?" Lyle jumped in front of Margaret and grabbed Mia's hand.
"I'm here to settle the score with this shameless mistress!" Mia shot daggers at Margaret, looking like a wife who just caught her husband red-handed.
The reporters Mia dragged along swarmed around, their cameras flashing like crazy at Lyle and Margaret.
"Y'all see this? Margaret's a shameless bitch!" Mia yelled at the reporters, "She knew Lyle and I were engaged, but she still went after him. Now, you've all seen it with your own eyes!"
Mia's pretty face twisted with rage, her eyes burning with jealousy and hatred, like she could drill a hole through Margaret with her stare.
Mia loved Lyle. From the moment she first laid eyes on him as a kid, she fell for this handsome, extraordinary guy with a melancholic vibe. But to Lyle, she was just a marriage alliance partner, and he was always cold and indifferent towards her.
Years ago, the Pennington Family hit a financial crisis and almost went bankrupt. Lyle was crushed, spending his days drinking and drowning in despair. The Davis Family wanted to call off the engagement, but Mia refused because she genuinely loved Lyle.
Mia's older brother, Logan Davis, shipped her off abroad, forbidding her from seeing or contacting Lyle, and spread rumors that she had run off with someone else.
While she was abroad, Mia went wild, dating a bunch of guys, including powerful businessmen and promising young talents, but none of them were her true love. Because she still couldn't forget Lyle.
During those years, Lyle became a top actor, and the Pennington family got richer than ever. Now, Logan brought up the past again and called Mia back. But Mia didn't expect that when she returned, all she saw were rumors about Margaret and Lyle. She tried to explain to Lyle that her departure had hidden reasons, but Lyle wouldn't even see her.
Mia held a grudge and vowed to win Lyle back. Today, she brought bodyguards and reporters, determined to trash Margaret's reputation! She was dead set on having Lyle, and no one, not even Margaret, could take him away from her!
The reporters surrounded Margaret and Lyle, having caught their intimate actions on the lawn.
"Lyle, what's your relationship with Ms. Scott?"
"Lyle, today's your birthday, but you spent it alone with Ms. Scott. Does this mean your relationship is special?"
"Ms. Scott, what do you have to say about Ms. Davis accusing you of being the other woman?"
Facing the reporters' barrage, Lyle's expression turned serious. He stood in front of Margaret, cleared his throat, and said in a deep voice, "This whole thing is baseless. I'll make a public statement later."
A reporter pushed further, "Lyle, what do you mean by a public statement?"
"You'll find out soon enough," Lyle said, keeping Margaret behind him.
He planned to officially break off the engagement with the Davis family at next week's award ceremony and propose to Margaret. At that time, everyone would see that his relationship with Margaret was legit. He didn't want Margaret to go through any more crap.
Mia found Lyle's protective stance towards Margaret extremely irritating. She stepped forward and barked at her bodyguards, "What are you waiting for? Beat up this shameless bitch!"
No matter what, she was determined to teach Margaret a lesson today!
"Yes, Ms. Davis!" The bodyguards responded and surrounded Margaret.
"Don't you dare!" Lyle shielded Margaret with his body. He regretted sending away the house's bodyguards and servants tonight to be alone with Margaret. Now, he was outnumbered, while Mia had brought dozens of bodyguards.
"Lyle, this is none of your business!" Mia stepped forward and forcefully pulled Lyle away.
Meanwhile, several bodyguards surrounded Margaret.
Margaret frowned slightly as the bodyguards approached her. She could handle these guys. But there were so many reporters on the scene. If she took down all these bodyguards, who knew what the reporters would write tomorrow?
This was a bit tricky.
Margaret took a few steps back. The bodyguards pressed forward, and as Margaret reached the edge of the pool, Mia suddenly rushed over and pushed her into the pool. "Margaret, you shameless bitch, go to hell!"
Margaret, focused on the bodyguards, was caught off guard by Mia's sudden move and slipped. With a loud splash, she fell into the water. Water splashed everywhere, and Lyle shouted anxiously, "Margaret, Margaret!"
He wanted to jump in to save Margaret, but the bodyguards held him back.
Seeing Margaret sinking, one of Mia's bodyguards hesitated and said, "Ms. Davis, should we save her? It wouldn't be good if someone died, especially with so many reporters around."
"No one is allowed to save her! This is the fate of a shameless woman!" Mia shouted.
Even if Margaret drowned, Mia believed that with the Davis Family's power, she wouldn't be in trouble!
"Margaret, Margaret! Let me go!" Lyle broke free from the bodyguards and rushed towards the pool.
At that moment, a tall, imposing figure jumped into the pool ahead of Lyle without hesitation.
"It's Mr. Fisher!" a reporter in the crowd shouted.
All eyes turned to William. Mia was stunned.
William jumped into the water and swam towards where Margaret had fallen. He dove underwater, saw Margaret, and grabbed her, pulling her into his arms. After they surfaced, he asked, "Margaret, are you okay?"
"William, what are you doing?" Margaret glared at William, exasperated.
She could swim, and William knew that.
