Chapter 491 A Pawn with No Use

"Hey, nice to meet you. I had no idea you guys were getting married, so I didn't bring a gift. I'll make sure to bring one next time I visit, Dione," Rainey said, trying to sound gracious despite the jealousy bubbling inside her.

She acted like she didn't care, as if she had everything she needed.

Juniper noticed Rainey's gaze lingering on Samuel and felt a twinge of suspicion. Her gut told her Rainey had feelings for Samuel.

"It's all good, they haven't had the wedding yet," Dione said, holding Rainey's hand gently. "I remember when you were little, playing at my house with Samuel, and you said you wanted to marry him when you grew up."

Dione brought this up deliberately in front of Juniper.

"Mrs. Hall, that was just kid stuff," Rainey said, blushing slightly. "Samuel and I are grown-ups now."

Rainey looked at Samuel with feigned innocence and kindness.

"Rainey is still as shy as she was when she was a kid," Samuel said, reminiscing about their childhood as he saw his old friend after so many years.

Seeing Samuel initiate the conversation, Rainey quickly continued, "Yeah, Samuel, do you remember our pretend wedding in the garden? I used a mosquito net as a veil, and I walked arm-in-arm with you on the grass while someone hummed the wedding march."

Rainey's sweet smile blossomed on her face, full of innocence.

Samuel's lips curled into a slight smile, and he nodded. "It's been so many years. Since you went abroad for school, we haven't kept in touch much."

Watching Samuel and Rainey chat so happily, Juniper felt a bit down. She had missed so many of Samuel's life moments.

Dione noticed Juniper's disappointment and kept smiling. "You two are just like when you were kids, so close that you forget everything else when you start talking."

Rainey blushed at Dione's teasing. "Mrs. Hall, please don't joke about me. Samuel will make fun of me later."

As she spoke, she kept sneaking glances at Juniper's reaction.

Juniper took a deep breath. "Samuel, I'm not feeling well. I'm going to rest in my room."

With that, Juniper stood up and went upstairs.

"Juniper, are you okay?" Samuel asked, seeing her pale face, and quickly followed her.

"Mrs. Hall, did I say something wrong to upset Samuel?" Rainey asked, her eyes fixed on Samuel's back. Seeing how concerned he was for Juniper, the flames of jealousy burned even hotter inside her.

"Of course not," Madeline said, secretly annoyed at Samuel's concern for Juniper. She sighed, "Juniper has no manners, unlike you. It's such a shame."

She couldn't understand why Samuel liked a woman several years older than him. And she had heard Juniper had a boyfriend before. How could such a woman compare to Rainey?

Angel had been living in a small apartment abroad ever since Lucy helped her escape from prison. Lucy had given her enough money to live comfortably for years, without worrying about food or shelter.

But William and Margaret were both famous figures, and their upcoming engagement had been all over the internet.

Angel was casually scrolling through social media when she stumbled upon the news of William and Margaret's engagement. Her expression twisted. How could Margaret still be with William?

William should be with her!

Angel's lips tightened, her face darkening as she scrolled through the comments section filled with well-wishes. The jealousy inside her grew uncontrollably.

Her face visibly darkened, and almost instinctively, she picked up the phone and found Jack's number in her contacts.

William had become Angel's nightmare. As long as he and Margaret were happy, Angel would never find peace.

But she was a fugitive, and Lucy would never help her return to the States. The only person who could help her was Jack.

Her fingers hesitated for a few seconds before she finally bit the bullet and dialed Jack's number.

A man's polite voice came through the receiver, "Hello, who is this?"

Angel took a couple of deep breaths to muster the courage to speak. "Hey, Jack... It's me."

"Angel?" Jack paused, his annoyance clear, with a hint of cold mockery. This woman had escaped from prison? He thought Angel would die somewhere far away.

Jack gritted his teeth, a cold smile forming on his lips as he spoke with impatience and sarcasm, "You're still alive?"

Angel bit her lip, trying to stay calm and softened her tone, speaking cautiously, "I'm calling you today... to ask for your help to get back to Ravenford. I need to go back."

"Ravenford?" Jack's voice rose sharply, his previous restrained mockery now fully exposed. He thought Angel was out of her mind.

If he hadn't moved quickly at the engagement party and cleaned up the Fisher Group's mess, he might have ended up in prison with Angel.

"Angel, don't you think it's a bit late for this?" Jack laughed derisively. "What makes you think you can ask me for anything? I suggest you stop bothering me, or I might just go to the police and tell them everything."

Jack was cold-hearted and a true businessman, always looking out for his own interests. He had no patience left for Angel, who was now useless to him. He was about to hang up when he heard her voice again.

"Wait!"

"What else do you want?" Jack's icy voice came through, completely devoid of patience.

Angel gritted her teeth, her heart pounding with tension and anger. If Margaret and William successfully got engaged, she would live the rest of her life like a walking corpse.

Margaret!

William was hers!
