Chapter 135 Actually, You Care About Him

"Annie, what's up with you?" Lucy asked, trying to sound all concerned.

Feeling kinda awkward, Annie tugged at her dress, but it didn't help much, so she just gave a sheepish smile. "I, uh, took a tumble."

"Oh, I see." Lucy didn't call her out and kept up the nice act. "Why don't you come to my room? I got some ointment. You don't want that bruise leaving a scar, do ya?"

"That'd be really nice of you, Ms. Clark." Annie nodded. She was hurting so bad from Joseph's crap that she felt like she was falling apart and needed a break.

Lucy led Annie to her room and handed her some ointment.

"Thanks." Annie felt a bit touched.

"How's stuff with Bruce?" Lucy asked, acting all innocent.

At the mention of Bruce, Annie's face fell. "We broke up." Annie's voice had a mix of sadness and reluctance.

"Why'd you guys break up? Was it 'cause of what went down at the party?" Lucy asked casually.

Annie bit her lip. "It's all Margaret's fault! Everything's because of her!"

At the party, that glass of red wine was meant for Margaret, but she faked drinking it and dumped it all over Annie, making her a joke in front of everyone! If it wasn't for Margaret, Bruce wouldn't have dumped her, and she wouldn't have had to sleep with Joseph to snag a movie role.

Lucy acted like she just figured it out. "So it was all Margaret's doing that day."

"Yeah, it was her!" Annie gritted her teeth, seething at the mention of Margaret.

"What's so great about Margaret? Besides seducing guys, what else can she do?" Lucy squinted. "Actually, getting Bruce back is pretty simple."

"Ms. Clark, you got a way to get Bruce back?" Annie asked eagerly. She'd do anything to get Bruce back!

Lucy smiled and said, "Bruce dumped you mostly 'cause of Margaret's meddling. If you can make Bruce see Margaret's true colors and get her to admit she set you up that day, wouldn't that fix everything?"

"Margaret would never admit it!" Annie said angrily.

Lucy leaned in and whispered something in Annie's ear. Annie grinned. "This time, I'm gonna totally crush Margaret!"

Late at night, Margaret lay in bed, wide awake. She kept replaying William's heartfelt words on the Ferris wheel and the name he blurted out in his room earlier. 'Marjorie.'

Her mind was a mess, and she couldn't make sense of it.

Margaret suddenly sat up and called Juniper. "Come with me to a bar for a drink!"

Juniper, woken up by Margaret's call, sounded a bit annoyed. "Do you know what time it is? It's super late. What's up with you?"

Margaret said gloomily, "I'm in a bad mood."

Juniper woke up fully and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

"I'll tell you when we meet," Margaret said flatly.

Juniper got up and grabbed her car keys. "Send me your hotel address, and I'll come pick you up."

Margaret changed her clothes, walked out of her room, and waited for Juniper at the hotel lobby entrance. Annie, stepping out of Lucy's room and heading back, spotted Margaret standing at the entrance. She quickly ducked into a nearby corner.

Lucy had just spilled the beans that Margaret and William were also crashing at this hotel. Annie thought, 'What's Margaret doing out here alone so late?'

She glared at Margaret with pure hatred. 'Is she sneaking out to meet some guy behind William's back?'

Just then, Juniper's car pulled up next to Margaret. She rolled down the window. "Margaret, hop in!"

Margaret opened the door and slid into the passenger seat.

Annie only saw Margaret get into a white Maserati but couldn't see who was driving. Instinctively, she thought Margaret must be off to hook up with some dude.

Annie quickly flagged down a taxi. "Follow that car."

Juniper glanced at Margaret beside her. "What's up? Did William piss you off again?"

"Don't even mention him!" Margaret's face soured at the mention of William.

Juniper chuckled, thinking she'd hit the nail on the head. Who else but William could get Margaret so riled up?

Juniper took Margaret to a bar, found a corner to sit in, and poured her a glass of red wine. "So, what did William do to tick you off this time?"

Margaret picked up the glass and downed it in one go. "I don't even know where to start."

"Hmm?" Juniper looked puzzled.

Margaret poured herself another glass and gently swirled it. "William's always been in love with another girl."

Margaret gave Juniper the lowdown on the whole William and Marjorie situation. Juniper nodded. "So, you think William sees you as a stand-in for Marjorie?"

"Isn't that the case?" Margaret frowned, clearly troubled.

"I don't think so," Juniper said seriously. "If William's chasing after you, why are you so hung up on this?"

"I have a thing about faithfulness, especially in relationships," Margaret said flatly. "I can't stand the idea of my future partner having another woman in his heart."

"Alright, but what about Lyle? He's head over heels for you, but you don't care about him either?" Juniper said dismissively. "If Lyle had a woman in his heart, would you care?"

"Lyle?" Margaret was taken aback. "We're just friends. Whether he has a woman in his heart has nothing to do with me."

"Oh, there you go," Juniper said. "Margaret, you actually love William. Otherwise, why would you care so much about Marjorie?"

"Is that so?" Margaret rubbed her temples in frustration. "Can you stop mentioning him?"

Seeing Margaret so troubled by love, Juniper chuckled softly and changed the subject. "Are you going to the charity auction tomorrow night?"

"Yeah." Margaret nodded.

The charity auction tomorrow night was organized by Leo Studio. Margaret hadn't planned to go, but now she suddenly wanted to.

Annie followed the taxi to the bar, pulled her hat down low to cover her face, and looked around for Margaret. If she could catch Margaret meeting a guy, it would be epic.

Margaret had caused her so much misery; she had to get back at her!
