Chapter 299 Juniper Gets Kidnapped
Margaret waited a while longer, checking the time. It was almost noon, and there was still no sign of Juniper.
Feeling a bit worried, Margaret called Juniper, but her phone was off.
Juniper was always a disciplined person. Since they had agreed to meet in the morning, she wouldn't be unreachable this late.
Margaret quickly drove to the hotel where Juniper was staying. She knocked on the door for a long time, but there was no response.
Margaret frowned, sensing something was wrong.
She called the manager to open the door, but the room was empty. Juniper was not there.
Checking the surveillance footage, it showed that Juniper had gone out last night and never returned.
The footage revealed that the last place Juniper went was a supermarket near the hotel.
She walked into a blind spot of the surveillance cameras and then disappeared.
This directly told Margaret that something had happened to Juniper!
She was about to contact Anthony to help find Juniper when her phone suddenly rang.
Margaret picked up her phone and saw that it was Juniper calling!
Margaret breathed a sigh of relief, thinking Juniper was okay.
She quickly answered and asked, "Juniper, where have you been?"
However, the voice on the other end was not Juniper's.
Instead, a low, raspy woman's voice gritted out her name. "Margaret!"
The voice was very familiar.
It was Mia!
Margaret's heart sank.
Juniper's phone was in Mia's hands!
This meant that Juniper had been kidnapped by Mia!
Sure enough, the next second, Mia's sinister voice came through the phone. "Juniper is with me!"
"Mia, what do you want?" Margaret demanded.
Her eyes narrowed, her long lashes trembling slightly, casting a shadow in her gaze. She said in a deep voice, "Don't do anything rash!"
"Margaret, if you want to save Juniper, come to the top of Glimmerpeak on the outskirts of town. If I don't see you before sunset, you'll never see her again! Remember, you must come alone. If anyone else finds out, Juniper will die!" Mia finished her speech in one breath and hung up, not giving Margaret any chance to ask questions.
Margaret felt a wave of regret that she was so careless, letting Mia kidnap Juniper!
She looked at the time. After spending the whole afternoon looking for Juniper, it was already past four. Glimmerpeak was far from here; she had to leave immediately!
Margaret quickly assessed the situation. Leander and his group had already been taken down by the police, so Mia likely had no accomplices now.
Otherwise, given Mia's personality, she would have come directly for her instead of kidnapping Juniper.
Moreover, Mia had clearly stated over the phone that only she was allowed to come, or Juniper would die.
Margaret feared that this lunatic Mia would really harm Juniper. After weighing her options for a few seconds, she decided not to tell anyone and drove straight to Glimmerpeak.
Speeding all the way, Margaret finally reached the base of Glimmerpeak before six.
With only half an hour before sunset, Margaret was extremely anxious. She had to reach the top before the sun set!
Looking up at the mountain, which was a bit high, Margaret said nothing and started climbing.
Even though she felt like her lungs were about to burst from running, Margaret didn't dare to stop.
She was scared she wouldn't make it in time, scared that Mia would harm Juniper.
It was her fault that Juniper was in this mess.
With a burst of adrenaline, Margaret finally reached the cliff at the top of the mountain in the last minute before the sun set.
Looking up, Margaret saw Juniper tied up tightly to a tree at the edge of the cliff.
Standing next to her was Mia.
Seeing Mia, Margaret was stunned.
If it weren't for the phone call earlier, knowing that Mia had kidnapped Juniper, Margaret wouldn't have recognized this disheveled, dark-faced woman in oversized clothes as Mia.
"Margaret, I thought you weren't coming," Mia said coldly, looking at Margaret.
Although Mia's face was dark and unrecognizable, her eyes shone with intense hatred for Margaret.
Margaret ignored Mia and focused on Juniper. "Juniper, are you okay?"
"Margaret, don't come over here! Get out of here! This woman is crazy!" Juniper shouted.
Last night, she had just gone to the supermarket to buy some things. When she passed through the underground parking lot, she heard someone calling her.
Juniper instinctively turned around, but before she could see anything, she was knocked out from behind.
When she woke up, she found herself tied up in an old warehouse.
And the person in front of her was Mia.
Juniper knew Mia and was aware of the grudge between Mia and Margaret.
She knew that Mia had tried several times to harm Margaret, but Margaret had always managed to thwart her.
But Juniper never expected Mia to be so crazy. Unable to harm Margaret, she had come to kidnap her instead!
Now, Juniper was tied up at the edge of a cliff, and she was terrified.
But Juniper understood that Mia's target was not her but Margaret.
Mia had kidnapped her just to threaten Margaret.
She couldn't let Mia's plan succeed!
"Margaret, don't worry about me! Get out of here! Call the cop to catch this lunatic!" Juniper shouted.
"Shut up!" Mia held a long, sharp knife, the blade pointed at Juniper. "Say one more word, and I'll kill you!"
Seeing the sharp knife against Juniper's neck, Margaret's heart skipped a beat. She quickly shouted, "Mia, don't do anything rash!"
Mia sneered. "Looks like you really care about your friend."
"Mia, your grudge is with me, not Juniper. There's no need to involve my friend. Let her go!" Margaret said in a deep voice.
"Let her go? Fine." Mia twirled the knife in her hand and cut the ropes binding Juniper.
Both Margaret and Juniper were surprised.
Juniper was about to walk towards Margaret when Mia grabbed her and pointed the knife at her again. "Trying to run? Not so easy!"
Mia said, forcing Juniper step by step to the edge of the cliff with the knife.
Margaret watched as Juniper teetered on the edge of the cliff, her heart filled with tension.
If the wind blew a little harder, she could be blown off the mountain!
If she fell, she would be shattered to pieces!
