Chapter 40 Mission Impossible
She had lost the design drawings? And brought blank sheets to the meeting instead?
William didn't think Margaret would make such a rookie mistake. He wanted to hear her explanation.
However, Margaret had no intention of explaining. She remained calm and said, "Let's not discuss this issue right now."
Margaret looked at Olivia and asked, "Do we have backups of the designs?"
Olivia's face immediately showed disdain as she replied, "Margaret, you do know that our jewelry designs are all hand-drawn, right? How are backups for hand-drawn drawings possible? Are you even familiar with those fundamentals?"
Margaret nodded knowingly and asked, "How long would it take to redraw the designs?"
Without hesitation, Olivia answered, "At least two days."
"Margaret, what do you mean?" Ella glared at Margaret and mocked. "Do you intend to reschedule the appointment and have the design department redo the designs within two days? How could you even think of making Mr. Bruce, who has traveled so far, wait two days because of your stupid mistake?"
"Who said it would take two days? Give me one hour, and that's enough," Margaret said calmly and confidently.
"One hour? How is that possible? Didn't you hear Olivia say it would take at least two days?" Ella gritted her teeth as she saw Margaret's unhurried demeanor.
Clearly, Margaret had messed up, yet she remained so composed!
Ella couldn't stand Margaret's aloof attitude!
"Just because she needs two days doesn't mean I do. Just because she can't do it doesn't mean I can't!" Margaret's lips curled into an incredibly confident smile. "One hour is all I need."
After a pause, Margaret's gaze was intense as she looked at Bruce. "Sir, would you be willing to give me one hour?"
"Of course, no problem." Bruce agreed readily, curious about what Margaret intended to do.
William was equally curious.
He glanced at Margaret, his lips curling slightly as he asked coldly, "So, what do you plan to do?"
"Of course, I'm going to redraw the designs," Margaret replied with a confident smile.
Hearing this, William's eyes deepened.
So, Margaret was going to draw the designs herself?
And she only needed one hour to complete them?
Was that even possible?
"Margaret, stop joking!" Ella sneered as if she had heard a joke. "That's simply impossible!"
"We'll see," Margaret said as she stood up and opened her laptop.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Margaret elegantly opened the drawing software she had designed herself.
Hand-drawing the designs in an hour was impossible, but with this software, Margaret could definitely do it.
Projecting the computer screen, Margaret's slender, fair fingers skillfully navigated the mouse, her focus unwavering.
With each swift movement, intricate designs began to take shape on the screen.
The conference room fell silent, and everyone stared at the computer projection in disbelief, shocked beyond words.
Margaret really accomplished in one hour what would typically take skilled designers two days.
"Done!" Margaret sighed in relief as she finished the last stroke and released the mouse, her task accomplished.
She glanced at the time; there were still five minutes left in the hour.
William's cold eyes scrutinized the designs on the screen, a hint of amazement flashing imperceptibly.
The designs for the ring, necklace, and bracelet were vivid and dazzling.
What surprised him even more was that Margaret had made several subtle changes to the original hand-drawn designs.
These changes gave the entire "Ice and Fire" jewelry collection its soul, making it captivating.
Even the chief designer of the jewelry department couldn't achieve this, but Margaret did.
Margaret, his fiancée from the countryside had pulled yet another amazing feat! How many more surprises would she bring him?
Ella stared at Margaret's designs, unable to recover from her shock for a long time.
How was this possible?
How could Margaret really complete the design drawings in one hour?
Wasn't she a country bumpkin? How could she draw such complex designs?
Margaret completing the designs meant that Ella's scheme had failed again today!
Ella was extremely unhappy but couldn't show it. She could only bite her lip and glare at Margaret.
Amidst the astonished gazes, Margaret cleared her throat, smiled, and looked at Bruce. "Sorry. There was a small mishap earlier, but I've redrawn the designs now."
Her slender fingers pointed at the screen as she enthusiastically introduced, "This is our 'Ice and Fire' series. White represents ice, and red represents fire, which is the theme of this collection."
"Very good." Bruce gave a thumbs up, praising Margaret's design. "Miss Scott, I really like your design. It's very creative!"
The current concept was something Margaret had suggested to Olivia.
But Olivia seemed hostile towards her and had ignored Margaret's suggestions.
So, Margaret had never planned to show Bruce the drawings of the design department from the get go.
She had anticipated that Ella would tamper with the meeting, so she played along and used the opportunity to showcase her designs, stunning everyone.
"Sir, do you see any issues? Anything that needs to be modified?" Margaret maintained a polite and appropriate smile.
Bruce shook his head and said repeatedly, "Not at all. It's perfect!"
"Since there's nothing to modify, we'll proceed with production according to the designs and launch the 'Ice and Fire' series as soon as possible," Margaret said confidently. "I believe 'Ice and Fire' will achieve results beyond expectations."
"Of course, with someone as excellent as Miss Scott in charge, I'm very much looking forward to it," Bruce praised.
He was very satisfied with the design, and the meeting ended on a high note.
Bruce then prepared to return to his hotel to rest and left with his assistant.
As they watched Bruce leave, Ella and Olivia both wore angry expressions.
Olivia, as the head of the design department, felt humiliated. How could she maintain authority when her team's carefully refined designs had been outshone by an outsider like Margaret?
And Ella, who had risked everything by swapping out the designs, seethed with frustration. She had been certain this would get Margaret fired for negligence, but instead, Margaret had not only defused the situation with ease but also stolen the spotlight, earning Bruce's praise in the process!
Just as they were about to leave, Margaret's eyes flashed with determination. In a deep voice, she commanded, "Wait a minute!"
