Chapter 243 Kissing Her Without Warning
Seeing Margaret constantly blowing him off, ignoring his intense reactions, and insisting on meeting Lyle, William felt a wave of anger he couldn't quite explain.
He couldn't help but think, 'Does Lyle really mean that much to Margaret? She said she had no feelings for him, but why's she so dead set on meeting him in front of me? Even if it's just business, it's not cool!'
With jealousy eating him up, William leaned in and kissed Margaret's soft lips without a second thought.
Kissing her again, William's breath hitched, and his hands started wandering.
The faint scent on Margaret was so familiar, so comforting. It felt just like it did in his memories.
In a haze, William was transported back to eight years ago, when he and Marjorie were stuck in that dark, windowless room. Not far away was a big, scary dog.
Back then, he was terrified of dogs. Marjorie hugged him without a second thought. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and whispered in his ear, "William, don't be scared, I'll protect you!"
She held him close, and he smelled that faint, sweet fragrance on her, which somehow made him feel safe. That feeling was just like now.
He always felt that Margaret was the girl from eight years ago who made his heart race and whom he couldn't forget.
Dominantly sucking on her lips, William's breath grew ragged.
This sudden kiss left Margaret a bit stunned. She wanted to push him away, but her hands were firmly pinned by him, leaving her helpless. This feeling was indescribable.
Just as they were getting lost in the moment, a sudden voice shattered the mood. "Margaret, what are you doing?"
Lucy had finally convinced Michael to bring her to the Fisher Group to discuss a collaboration. As soon as she got there, Lucy made a beeline for the CEO's office.
She didn't expect to see William and Margaret in a heated kiss. Jealous, she stormed up and glared at Margaret.
William let go of Margaret, calmly straightened his messy shirt, and glanced at Lucy. "What are you doing here?"
Lucy pulled Margaret aside, hiding her jealousy, and flashed what she thought was a charming smile at William. "William, I came with Michael to discuss a collaboration with you."
William responded coolly, "Where's Michael?"
"He's parking the car. He'll be here soon." Lucy looked at William with a few traces of infatuation.
'This is the guy I want; no other woman can have him! Since Margaret shamelessly went after William, I won't let her off!' As Lucy was scheming, Michael walked over. "Lucy, why didn't you wait for me?"
"Michael, you're just in time," Lucy grabbed Michael's arm and coldly said to Margaret, "Margaret, we're here to discuss business with William. Why are you still here?"
Margaret shot Lucy a cool look. "Ms. Clark, I'm also here to talk business with William. Ever heard of taking turns?"
"Michael, take Lucy to the conference room to wait for me," William said coldly with a smirk.
"Alright, we'll wait for you in the conference room." Michael nodded and dragged Lucy out of the CEO's office.
Lucy was fuming. "Michael, did you see what Margaret just did..."
"Enough, Lucy. William said to wait in the conference room, so just do it." Michael pulled Lucy away, not wanting to argue.
Lucy shot daggers at Margaret as she left, cursing in her head, 'Margaret! This shameless woman, always trying to steal William!'
Lucy's fists clenched at her sides, her eyes burning with resentment. She wanted to make Margaret pay for this.
Watching Michael and Lucy leave, William turned back to Margaret with a sly smile. "So, what business do you want to discuss with me?"
"Nothing," Margaret said, pursing her lips.
William stepped closer, towering over her, his voice low and magnetic. "Didn't you just say you wanted to discuss business?"
Margaret shrugged. "I suddenly forgot what it was."
Truth was, there was no business; she just couldn't stand Lucy's attitude.
After that, Margaret turned and walked away, leaving a puzzled William behind.
Back at her desk, Margaret tried to tweak the "Ice and Fire" jewelry design, but something still felt off. Before she knew it, it was time to clock out.
Margaret stood up, ready to leave, when her phone rang. It was Lyle.
"Lyle, what's up?" Margaret answered.
Lyle's clear voice came through. "Margaret, are you off work?"
"Just got off," Margaret replied.
"I'm waiting for you at the entrance of the Fisher Group," Lyle said, his voice deep. With that, he hung up.
Margaret headed downstairs and out the main entrance, spotting Lyle's car.
Lyle got out, walked up to her, and looked at her with incredibly gentle eyes. "Margaret, hop in!"
"Okay," Margaret said lightly and got into the passenger seat.
She glanced at Lyle. "I was planning to find you after dinner."
Lyle smiled. "I'll treat you. Let's go together."
Margaret nodded. "Alright."
Seeing Margaret agree, Lyle couldn't help but smile softly. He started the car and drove towards his suburban villa.
Meanwhile, Lucy and Michael had just wrapped up their meeting with William and Lucy was reluctantly leaving the Fisher Group when she saw Margaret getting into Lyle's car.
"Isn't that Margaret?" A glint flashed in Lucy's eyes.
She thought, 'Just now in the CEO's office, Margaret has shamelessly tried to seduce William. Now she is getting into Lyle's car.'
Lucy watched Lyle's car with a cold gaze for a moment, then picked up her phone and sent a message to Grace: [Notify the reporters that Margaret is having a private meeting with Lyle. Also, don't forget to tell Mia!]
Grace replied: [Got it, Lucy!]
Lucy narrowed her eyes. 'Margaret, just you wait!'
