Chapter 199 Marjorie in the Same Project

Angel watched Margaret's cold shoulder as she walked away, a flash of spite in her eyes. 'She’s seriously acting like she can't hear me!'

Taking a deep breath, Angel squashed her jealousy and turned to William with a grin. "Hey, William, what was Ms. Scott saying about the North Bay project?"

"It's a new real estate gig by the Fisher Group," William mumbled, barely paying attention.

He hadn't planned on giving this project to Margaret since she was already swamped with the "Ice and Fire" jewelry thing. But with her treating him like just another coworker, he had to pile on the work to get her attention.

Angel's eyes lit up. "Can I get in on this project?"

"Marjorie, you just got here. Maybe start with something easier," William said, giving Angel a dismissive glance.

William didn't expect much from Angel's work. He brought her into the Fisher Group to give her a stable job, so she wouldn't have to deal with sketchy places like bars and get hassled. Surprisingly, Angel was super into the job, always diving into the materials.

"William, I'm just stuck studying all day. Why not let me jump into the project to learn more?" Angel tugged on William's arm, pouting. "Pretty please?"

Unable to resist Angel's constant begging, William thought for a moment and nodded. "Alright, you can join."

"William, you're the best!" Angel beamed and suddenly stood on her tiptoes to plant a kiss on William's cheek.

The sudden move caught William off guard. By the time he realized what happened, Angel had already let go. "William, I'll get back to work now. Don't forget your coffee."

Watching Angel walk away, William frowned and wiped the spot on his cheek where she kissed him.

Angel strutted back to the office and approached Margaret in her high heels. Margaret was going through the North Bay project files William had given her when a shadow fell over her desk, blocking her view. She looked up to see Angel standing there, looking down at her.

"Margaret, William said I'm joining the North Bay project. Can you fill me in on the details?" Angel said, all smug.

Margaret almost thought she had heard her wrong. "Really?"

"Yep," Angel smirked.

"Sorry, William didn't mention it to me," Margaret said, not wanting to deal with Angel, and went back to her work.

Feeling snubbed, Angel was ticked off. She rolled her eyes and pulled out her phone to call William, sounding all hurt. "William, didn't you say I could join the North Bay project? Margaret says I can't. Can you tell her?"

"Alright, I got it." William's clear voice came from the other end.

As soon as Angel hung up, Margaret's desk phone rang. It was William.

Margaret frowned slightly and answered, "William, what's up?"

"Let Angel join the North Bay project. Give her some easy tasks," William said indifferently.

"Got it," Margaret replied icily and hung up.

She thought, 'What's William's deal, putting Angel on the same project as me? Is he trying to mess with me on purpose?'

"See, I wasn't lying, was I?" Angel said smugly. "Now can you explain it to me?"

"Angel, you're so smart. You don't need me to explain anything," Margaret said, patting the materials on the desk and shoving them into Angel's arms. "Take them and read for yourself!"

"You!" Angel's face darkened.

"What? Don't tell me you can't understand them." Margaret sneered.

"Who says I can't?" Angel glared at Margaret and stomped back to her seat.

Margaret had already skimmed through the materials and had a general idea of the North Bay project. She was about to look up more info online when her phone rang. It was Juniper.

"Juniper, what's up?" Margaret answered.

Juniper's gentle voice came through. "I'm planning to head back to the studio tonight."

"Why so sudden? Something up at Leo Studio?" Margaret rubbed her temples.

"No, nothing like that." Juniper laughed. "I've been away for a while and feel uneasy. I want to go back early to keep an eye on things."

Juniper had originally come for Margaret and William's engagement party, but so much had happened since then, including Margaret's avalanche incident. Now that things were back to normal, except for the unresolved drama between Margaret and William involving Marjorie, Juniper felt it was time to return to Fleurancia.

Margaret nodded lightly. "What time's your flight? I'll take you to the airport tonight."

"Eleven o'clock," Juniper said, checking her ticket.

"Alright, I'll pick you up from the hotel after work."

After work, Margaret drove to Juniper's hotel.

"Over here," Juniper waved at Margaret from the entrance.

Margaret parked the car in front of Juniper. "Hop in!"

Juniper got into the passenger seat and looked around. "Nice ride. Is it Lyle's?"

"Yeah, he lent it to me." Margaret nodded lightly.

Margaret had wanted to buy her own car since she’d be staying in Ravenford for a while, but Lyle insisted on lending her his.

"Really? I think he bought it just for you," Juniper teased with a smile. "It's totally your style. Looks like Lyle knows you well."

As soon as Juniper finished speaking, Margaret's phone rang with a pleasant ringtone. Seeing Lyle's name flashing on the screen, Juniper stuck out her tongue. "Speak of the devil."

Margaret answered the call and put on her headset. "Lyle, what's up?"

"Margaret, are you off work?" Lyle's smooth voice came through.

"Yeah, I'm taking Juniper to the airport," Margaret said indifferently. "Do you need something?"

"My birthday is in a couple of days. Do you remember?" Lyle asked in a clear voice. "I'm planning a birthday party. Will you come?"
