Chapter 261 Only I Can Kiss You
Just as William was about to take things up a notch, Margaret's phone in her pocket started buzzing like crazy.
Margaret snapped back to reality. She quickly shoved William away, her face all red and breathing heavy as she fished out her phone. She glanced down; it was Lyle calling.
Margaret took a deep breath before answering.
"Margaret, how's your injury?" Lyle's worried voice came through.
"I'm fine," Margaret replied, trying to sound chill.
"Good to hear," Lyle said, pausing a bit before adding, "By the way, Miguel talked to the props team, and they said the loose swing screws were just an accident."
"An accident?" Margaret asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That's what he said." Lyle frowned.
"I see," Margaret didn't push it further.
After hanging up, Margaret narrowed her eyes a bit. She knew this whole thing couldn't have been just an accident. But she couldn't tip off the enemy just yet.
Since Lyle said it was an accident, she'd play along to make the real culprit drop their guard.
As Margaret was thinking, a chill ran down her spine.
"What did Lyle want?" William's handsome face was all serious, clearly not happy.
Margaret noticed William's annoyance.
Thinking about how close they just got, Margaret swallowed, still feeling his breath on her lips. "Nothing, I'm going back to my room."
She hopped off the kitchen counter, fixed her clothes that William had messed up, and hurried back to her room.
Watching Margaret leave all flustered, William stood there, his well-defined hand gently rubbing his lips, his deep eyes flickering.
Even though Margaret was no longer in the kitchen, it still felt like their recent passion was hanging in the air.
William was sure Margaret would soon come back to him.
The next day was bright and sunny, with a clear blue sky stretching forever.
Margaret was about to head to the set as usual but got stopped by William.
"What's up?" Margaret looked at him, confused.
"I'm going to the set with you today," William said, pulling her into the car.
"Don't you have work?" Margaret asked, curious as she sat in the car.
William just said, "I'm taking a day off."
Margaret pouted but didn't push it.
When they got to the set, Margaret didn't bother with William and rushed to get her makeup done.
This drama was a pain because the makeup and costumes took forever. Each step, from makeup to hair to dressing, was a whole process.
In the makeup room, Margaret held her script, thinking about how to nail her scenes. Even though it was just a cameo, she wanted to give it her all.
Just then, there was a knock on the makeup room door.
"Come in." a staff member quickly went to open the door.
Through the big mirror in front of her, Margaret saw Lyle walk in with Miguel, followed by a middle-aged guy.
Margaret frowned, looking at Lyle. "What's going on?"
"This is the props guy responsible for that day," Lyle explained, pointing to the man they brought in.
"Ms. Scott, I'm here to apologize." The props guy stepped forward and bowed deeply to Margaret. "If it weren't for my screw-up, you wouldn't have gotten hurt, almost causing a major accident. I'm really sorry!"
Margaret narrowed her eyes a bit. If she remembered right, this props guy was new.
She thought, 'So, is he the one who messed with it? But I don't know this dude at all, so why would he want to hurt me? There has to be someone pulling the strings. Since he is sticking to the "accident" story, I might as well play along to flush out the real culprit.'
Margaret put down her script and smiled. "Since it wasn't on purpose, I won't make a big deal out of it. Just be more careful next time and don't screw up again."
The props guy looked surprised that Margaret let him off so easily. He glanced at Lyle, then sighed in relief, "Thank you, Ms. Scott. I'll get back to work."
"Okay." Margaret nodded lightly, and the props guy left. But Lyle and Miguel stayed put.
"Do you need something else?" Margaret asked, looking at them through the mirror.
"I wanted to go over the scene we're about to shoot," Lyle said, sitting down in the chair next to Margaret.
Margaret had read the script and knew they were about to film a kissing scene.
Today, Margaret and Lyle were shooting a scene where Lyle's character, the emperor, confesses his love to Margaret's character, Aimee, in a small forest in the palace.
But Aimee already had someone she loved and didn't like the emperor, so she rejected him. The emperor, pissed off, forcefully kissed Aimee.
"Aimee, you belong to me. Your heart should belong only to me. I won't let you think of another man!" Lyle, with extreme dominance, a barely noticeable trace of defeat on his face, pulled Margaret into his arms, ignoring her struggles, holding her tightly.
He intended to conquer her with his forceful attitude. Margaret's character, Aimee, was a delicate woman, naturally no match for his strength.
Margaret struggled in vain, and Lyle lowered his head to forcefully kiss her. Their kiss was deep and intense.
Not far away, William saw this scene, his handsome face tense, burning with anger, exuding a chilling coldness.
Even though he knew Lyle and Margaret weren't really kissing, just using camera angles, seeing Margaret in his arms, so close, made him extremely unhappy.
"Cut," Wayne, the director, shouted, "Great, that was great. Let's get ready for the next scene."
Margaret immediately snapped out of her acting state and separated from Lyle.
"Margaret," Lyle was about to say something to her when William came over and pulled Margaret away.
"What's wrong?" Margaret asked calmly as they moved to the side.
William's face was dark as he looked down at Margaret, frowning as he raised his hand. "My hand hurts."
His breath washed over her, and Margaret pursed her lips. "Is your hand okay?"
"Blow on it for me," William said, his deep eyes carrying a hint of coldness.
Thinking about the scene she just filmed with Lyle, William was burning with jealousy.
Margaret knew why he was angry and was about to speak when William suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms. He lowered his head, his voice deep and husky in her ear. "Margaret, you are mine! Only I can kiss you!"
