Chapter 468 What Makes You Deserve His Heart?
Pain always seemed trivial when surrounded by happy people.
Especially when only one person, Susan, feels the pain, her anger intensifies.
When Susan found out her qualification to compete had been revoked, she panicked. By the time she caught up, she saw Margaret on stage receiving the award. Susan pressed her lips together, her brows furrowed, and her eyes filled with resentment as she stared at Margaret. If nothing had gone wrong, that trophy should have been hers.
"Leo, you set me up!"
It was already six in the evening when Margaret and William walked out of the design competition venue, chatting and laughing as they headed to their car. Suddenly, Susan appeared, glaring at Margaret with intense hatred. "Leo... no, Ms. Scott, why did you frame me? Why? That award, that trophy in your hand, should have been mine!"
Susan's voice grew increasingly uncontrolled, her delicate face contorted with rage. Many passersby stopped to watch. William instinctively stepped in front of Margaret, shielding her.
Margaret frowned, looking at Susan with a mix of helplessness and disgust. She hadn't expected Susan's obsession to reach this level.
She tugged on William's sleeve, signaling him not to intervene. She stepped forward, squinting slightly at Susan. "You framed me, Ms. Lewis. We're both designers. If you had competed with me fairly, I might have respected you as an opponent. But now, you're despicable. Plagiarizing someone else's work is a crime in Fleurancia."
With that, she signaled William to call the police and mouthed the name "Mia."
William immediately understood, nodded, and took out his phone to call the police. He described the situation outside the award venue in fluent Fleurancia and detailed Susan's plagiarism and Mia's theft of design plans.
Susan's face turned pale. Having lived in Fleurancia for many years, she understood what William was saying. But it was too late to stop him. William hung up the phone and put it back in his pocket without mercy.
About half an hour later, a police car arrived. Two officers got out and escorted Susan into the car. That night, Susan's reputation was utterly destroyed.
Meanwhile, Mia was in her hotel room, watching the award ceremony live on TV. She was terrified, restless, and couldn't believe Margaret had fought back.
She clutched her phone, contemplating whether to call Susan, but hesitated.
Suddenly, there was a frantic knock at the door.
Mia's heart raced with anxiety. She cautiously approached the door and asked, "Who's there?"
She turned the doorknob slowly, and the door opened.
To her surprise, two police officers entered. One showed his badge and said, "Ms. Kim, you are under investigation for theft and kidnapping. The evidence is conclusive. We are here to arrest you and take you to the police station."
Mia was stunned and instinctively tried to back away, but the handcuffs were already on her wrists. She had no choice but to lower her head and follow the officers out to the police car.
It seemed everything had settled. Margaret's engagement had been broadcast live, and the internet was buzzing with discussions.
But Margaret and William didn't seem to care. They spent a few carefree days in Fleurancia, enjoying their time together without any distractions.
Upon returning to Ravenford, their first stop was Fisher Manor to visit Bradley.
William held Margaret's hand tightly, as if afraid she might run away. He entered with a smile, "Grandpa, Margaret, and I are back."
Bradley had been thinking about the young couple all day. Seeing them return, he was both surprised and delighted. "You two finally came back. I've missed you so much."
"Margaret wanted to come back to see you after the competition. I thought she was too tired, so I took her to enjoy Fleurancia for a few more days. And we need to start planning the engagement ceremony. I proposed to Margaret at the award ceremony, and she accepted."
Bradley looked at Margaret in surprise, his face breaking into a smile. "Margaret, you finally agreed to marry this rascal? That's wonderful. Now I can rest easy."
Margaret nodded shyly. "Yes, I accepted William's proposal. We even bought the ring. You can rest assured, Grandpa."
She wore a custom-made diamond ring on her right ring finger, bought the day after the award ceremony.
As the three of them chatted, Daisy and Abigail arrived at Fisher Manor. Upon entering, they saw Margaret and William sitting beside Bradley. Abigail's expression immediately soured.
Daisy's expression remained calm, having experienced more in life. She smiled at Bradley, "Dad, Abigail, and I came to see you."
William heard the commotion and looked up at Daisy and Abigail. His smile faded, replaced by a stern expression. "What are you doing here? You're not welcome. Please leave."
Margaret frowned slightly and whispered, "William."
She didn't want William to confront Daisy and Abigail directly. It would be unpleasant.
"William, why are you so angry? We're just here to see Grandpa. We won't do anything," Abigail said, ignoring William's hostility. She placed the supplements she brought on the table.
"Grandpa, these are supplements from Aunt Daisy and me. Please accept them."
Bradley pursed his lips and replied indifferently, "You are thoughtful."
"You're back from abroad. I watched your competition and the award ceremony," Abigail said, straightening up and looking at Margaret with a haughty attitude.
She had seen Margaret win the competition and William propose to her. Abigail was consumed with jealousy, almost to the point of madness.
Why did Margaret deserve William's heart?
