Chapter 238 Candlelight Dinner
Reporters swarmed Jack like bees to honey. "Mr. Phillips, what's your take on all this?"
One reporter threw some shade, "Mr. Phillips, BPL might've snagged the North Bay project, but let's be real, the Fisher Group's the real winner here."
Jack's face darkened. Blowing off the reporters, he let out a cold chuckle and stormed off.
Watching Jack's back, William's eyes got all serious. He was deep in thought. 'Did Margaret know this whole time? Is everything today just part of her master plan? Even when Angel leaked the bid to BPL to frame her, did Margaret already see it coming and flip it to her advantage? She is no joke.'
Jack left all pissed off, totally defeated, while the Fisher Group came out on top.
After the press conference wrapped up, Margaret headed back to her desk. She'd been cooking up some slick strategies for the "Ice and Fire" jewelry line.
Since Jack had thrown down the gauntlet against the Fisher Group at the press conference, she wasn't about to just sit back and chill.
By the time she finished the plan, it was already quitting time. Her coworkers had bounced in small groups, leaving Margaret alone in the big office.
She packed up her stuff and was about to head to the CEO's office to show William the plan. Suddenly, a shadow loomed over her, covering her completely.
Margaret looked up, surprised to see William. "William, what are you doing here? I was just about to come find you."
"What do you need me for?" William flashed a slight smile. It wasn't often Margaret came looking for him.
Margaret showed the plan, pointed at the computer screen, and said coolly, "This is the plan for the 'Ice and Fire' jewelry, targeting Royal Radiance."
"Is this just about work?" William's eyes dimmed a bit.
"What else?" Margaret shot him a glance and started explaining the plan in detail, "I'm thinking we launch a few pieces first. Each one will have a unique mark as a selling point, and we'll secretly apply for patents."
Pausing, Margaret continued, "Royal Radiance will definitely try to copy our new stuff, including those unique marks. Then we can hit them with legal action. Basically, we'll set a trap for them and catch them red-handed. What do you think?"
William narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "Sounds solid."
"If there are no issues, I'll get the team rolling on it." Margaret smiled and shut down the computer.
"Did you already know about the government's plan for the North Bay project? And did you also know that Angel would leak the bid to frame you?" William suddenly asked.
"Yep." Margaret admitted.
"So, everything was part of your plan." William's gaze on Margaret deepened.
He had to admit, Margaret was something else, smart, decisive, ruthless, and always on point. He couldn't help but admire her.
Meeting William's intense gaze, Margaret's breath caught in her throat. She quickly looked away.
"It's time to head out. I'm leaving now." Margaret grabbed her handbag and made for the door.
Just as she was about to step out, a strong arm wrapped around her waist. Caught off guard, Margaret stumbled right into William's arms.
"What are you doing?" Margaret frowned.
"Come with me," William said in a deep voice.
Without waiting for her to agree, William grabbed her hand and led her to his car.
"Where are you taking me?" Margaret asked, looking out the window, puzzled.
William glanced at her and said in his smooth, magnetic voice, "You'll see."
A few days ago, he had planned an elaborate proposal, hoping to surprise Margaret. But she had gone to Lyle's award ceremony, leaving him no chance. Tonight, he was determined to propose to her, and he had to make it happen.
Margaret couldn't help but smirk a little.
Half an hour later, William parked the car by the beach.
"We're here." William got out and opened the car door for Margaret.
Margaret stepped out and looked around.
Not far away was the vast ocean. On the calm sea, a luxurious yacht was anchored.
Margaret recognized it as William's yacht.
Last time, William had proposed to her on that yacht. Now that he had brought her here again, she wondered what he was planning.
"Margaret, this way." William took her hand and led her onto the yacht.
On the yacht, two bodyguards stood at the entrance. Seeing William and Margaret, they respectfully said, "Mr. Fisher, everything is ready."
William nodded slightly.
"William, what are you up to?" Margaret couldn't help but ask.
William smiled faintly. "You'll find out soon."
He led her to the dining room and sat at the table where he had proposed last time.
As soon as Margaret sat down, the lights in the yacht's dining room suddenly went out.
Margaret gasped as darkness enveloped her. She was terrified of the dark.
"Margaret, don't be afraid." William's magnetic voice sounded in her ear.
He reached out and held her hand. "Close your eyes."
For some reason, William's voice seemed to have a calming effect, and Margaret instinctively closed her eyes.
Feeling the warmth of William's hand, Margaret's heart settled down significantly.
A few minutes later, William whispered in her ear, "You can open your eyes now."
Margaret opened her eyes hesitantly, only to see candles lit all around, their flames flickering romantically.
The table was filled with exquisite dishes, each one of Margaret's favorites. So it was a candlelight dinner.
Margaret looked up at William. "You went through all this trouble just to have dinner?"
"Of course not," William raised an eyebrow and looked deeply at Margaret, speaking in a serious tone.
It couldn't be just dinner. He had meticulously prepared an elaborate proposal ceremony for her.
