Chapter 249 The Unexpected Incident at the Opening Ceremony 3
"Ms. Scott, what happened to your face?" The reporter's eyes were practically popping out of his head as he kept firing off questions at Margaret.
In showbiz, looks were everything. So when Margaret, the big boss of Starlight Entertainment, showed up at the new film's launch looking terrible, it was a huge deal.
Everyone's eyes were glued to her. Her face and any skin showing were all puffy and covered in nasty red rashes. It was a total horror show.
People were losing their minds, whispering and gossiping,
"What the heck? Did Ms. Scott's face get messed up?"
"This is nuts. She was looking like a total goddess a minute ago, and now she’s like an ugly duckling."
"Is it really disfigurement? Or did she catch some freaky disease?"
Lyle noticed something was off and asked, all worried, "Margaret, you okay?"
"Sorry, I'm feeling kinda crappy." Margaret, trying not to scratch her face off, grabbed Lyle's arm. "Get me outta here, quick."
Lyle's face was all tense and worried as he helped her off the stage. "What's going on? We need to get you to a hospital."
Reporters were all over them, snapping pics and throwing questions at Margaret,
"Ms. Scott, what happened to your face?"
"Ms. Scott, was this an accident or is there more to it? Spill the tea!"
"Ms. Scott."
From the audience, Mia, hiding under her baseball cap, smirked. Her plan had worked like a charm.
She thought, Margaret wants to steal the show? Well, now everyone can see her looking like a hot mess! I have turned the launch into a total circus! With Margaret looking like this, will Lyle still be into her?'
Mia felt a rush of satisfaction. She'd found out from Lucy that Margaret was allergic to platinum. She even got a doctor to confirm that a bad allergy could be deadly.
So, Mia had someone load up the flowers with platinum and snuck into the Starlight Entertainment opening ceremony.
Everything went down smoother than she could've hoped. Margaret was now a walking disaster, and her ugly mug would be all over the internet soon. Even if it didn't kill her, it would damage her reputation.
Mia grinned, her cold eyes locked on Margaret, who was swarmed by reporters.
In her head, she cursed, 'Margaret, this is just the start! You made me lose everything. If it's just an allergy and some public humiliation, that's too easy! Next, I'm gonna make your life a living hell! Just you wait!'
Margaret was itching like crazy and needed some anti-allergy cream, but she was trapped by the reporters.
Just as she was about to tell them to back off, a familiar cold voice cut through the noise. "Move aside!"
It was William. Margaret looked up and saw William coming into view. His handsome face was all serious, and he had this icy vibe that seemed to chill the whole room.
William's intense presence made the crowd instinctively step back. With calm, steady steps, he walked up to her. He stood in front of Margaret and, with everyone watching, scooped her up in his arms.
When he looked down at her, his icy eyes softened a bit, and he asked, "Margaret, what the hell happened? You okay?"
Wrapped up in William's familiar embrace, Margaret felt a weird sense of calm wash over her. She pressed her lips together. "I'm having an allergic reaction."
William noticed it too. He knew Margaret was allergic to platinum. Back at the Clark Family's shindig, Lucy had tried to frame Margaret for stealing her diamond ring, and Margaret had cleared her name thanks to her allergy. But he didn't know why she was having a reaction now.
"I'll get you to the hospital." William held her tight and made a beeline for the door.
Margaret suddenly remembered something and glanced back at the stage where the flowers were still lying.
"William, have someone check those flowers," she said, her voice strained as she nestled against his chest.
William was taken aback. The scene of two women presenting flowers on stage flashed in his mind. He quickly pieced it together.
When he brought Margaret over this afternoon, everything was cool until the opening ceremony kicked off. Margaret and Lyle went on stage together, and she had been fine up until then.
On stage, she hadn't touched anything else except that bouquet of flowers. So, the flowers had to be the problem.
William's eyes turned colder. "Margaret, don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this."
"Okay." Margaret nodded.
It was clear today's mess was no accident. She had publicly shown her allergy to platinum at the Clark Family's event. So, a bunch of people knew about her allergy.
'Who could it be? Angel? Lucy? Or someone else?' Margaret's whole body was itching like crazy, and her mind was foggy. She couldn't figure out who had set her up right now.
The urgent thing was to get some rest. Once her allergy calmed down, she'd dig into this.
William placed her in his car, his eyes full of worry. "Margaret, hang in there, I'll get you to the hospital."
"It's okay, no need for the hospital. I'll be fine after some rest." Margaret rubbed her temples, trying to bear the intense itchiness.
She didn't know what had been done to those flowers, but this time, her reaction was way worse. Not only was she itchy all over, but she also felt hot, like she had a fever.
But it was okay. She knew she was allergic to platinum, and to be safe, she had brought her homemade anti-allergy ointment. She had stashed the ointment in her suitcase.
Margaret asked William to take her back to Water Moon Estate.
Seeing her insist, William immediately started the car and sped towards Water Moon Estate. He drove like a madman, even running two red lights, and finally pulled up at Water Moon Estate.
"Margaret, we're here." He stopped the car and looked at her in the passenger seat.
Margaret was slumped in the seat, her face flushed, her whole body red and swollen, making his heart ache.
"Margaret, you okay?" William reached out and touched her forehead. He could feel the scorching heat of her skin against his palm.
