Chapter 348 I Can Die for William
Lucy was just lucky to be born into the wealthy and prestigious Clark Family. Other than being spoiled and having a bad temper, she was good for nothing.
To maintain a good relationship with the Clark Family, Grace repeatedly humbled herself to please Lucy, acting as her lackey, fulfilling all of Lucy's demands. But Lucy never repected her..
Not only did she boss her around, but she also pushed all her problems onto her. She even schemed several times to get Margaret away from William, trying to pair Margaret with Lyle.
Lyle was Grace's dream man, the one she had loved for so long.
She couldn't just watch Lyle fall into Lucy's trap. Therefore, Grace secretly played many tricks.
That night, the incident with Lucy and the male escort in the lounge was also secretly leaked to the media by Grace, who fanned the flames behind the scenes, letting the situation escalate.
However, Grace was very careful because she knew that if Lucy found out, she would be in big trouble.
"If I pretend to commit suicide, do you think it will work?" Lucy, already blinded by anger, was easily swayed by Grace's words and thought she made a lot of sense.
Grace pursed her lips and pretended to be worried, saying, "It might work, but it's too dangerous, Lucy. You mustn't do it."
"As long as I can have him, what does danger matter?" A determined glint flashed in Lucy's eyes.
Grace's words reminded her that if even Angel could pretend to be pitiful to get William's attention, then so could she.
Seeing her plan succeed, a barely noticeable sinister glint flashed in Grace's eyes.
Pretending to commit suicide would only make William hate Lucy more.
Although Lucy was born into a good family, she was still played by Grace.
Back at the Clark Mansion, Lucy went straight to her room and locked herself inside.
Even by dinner time, Lucy hadn't come downstairs.
"Where's Lucy?" Victor frowned at Michael when he saw that Lucy hadn't come down.
Michael looked up. "She locked herself in her room as soon as she got back. I don't know what she's doing."
"Go call Lucy down for dinner," Victor said to the butler in a deep voice.
"Yes, Mr. Clark," the butler replied respectfully and then went upstairs.
He knocked on Lucy's door, but there was no response from inside.
"Ms. Clark, it's time for dinner." The butler knocked for several minutes, but Lucy still didn't respond.
He had no choice but to go back downstairs to the dining room and report to Victor, "Ms. Lucy's door is locked from the inside. I knocked for a long time, but there was no response. She might be asleep."
"It's so late; she shouldn't still be sleeping." Michael rubbed his temples, a bad feeling rising in his heart.
Ever since the Clark Group's 50th-anniversary celebration, Lucy had been listless and downcast.
Today, she had even gone to see William on her own, and when she came back, she was very low-spirited.
It must be because of William.
Michael could imagine how coldly William had treated Lucy.
But Lucy was too stubborn, fixated on William.
Michael was worried and stood up, heading to Lucy's room on the second floor.
"Lucy, what are you doing? Open the door!" Michael knocked hard on the door.
However, the room remained silent, with no response.
The uneasy feeling in his heart grew stronger. Michael found the key to the room, but the door was locked from the inside.
In a panic, Michael forcefully broke down the door.
"Lucy!" Michael looked around but didn't see anyone in the room.
He had seen Lucy go into the room with his own eyes in the afternoon, and she hadn't come out since. The door was locked from the inside; she should still be in the room.
"Lucy, where are you?" Michael called out loudly as he searched the room.
He walked to the bathroom door and saw it was tightly closed. He yanked it open.
Michael was stunned by the scene before him.
Lucy was lying in the bathtub, her right hand hanging down, a fresh red wound on her wrist still bleeding, staining the white bathtub red.
On the floor, a fruit knife covered in blood looked horrifying.
"Lucy, what's wrong?" Michael rushed forward and pressed on Lucy's wound.
Lucy struggled to open her eyes, her face pale, her voice weak. "Michael, I can die for William."
"Why are you so foolish?" Michael's face was full of pain.
He knew Lucy loved William, but William didn't love her.
Unrequited love was painful. But he never thought Lucy would commit suicide for William.
He urgently picked up Lucy, his voice trembling. "Lucy, hold on. I'll take you to the hospital!"
"Michael, remember to tell William that I love him more than my own life," Lucy said with difficulty before blacking out.
"Lucy! You can't die!" Michael carried Lucy downstairs. Victor and the servants, who had heard the commotion, were all stunned.
The butler hurriedly helped bandage Lucy's wound to prevent excessive blood loss.
Michael drove Lucy to the hospital for emergency treatment.
"Ms. Clark has lost a lot of blood and is in critical condition," The doctor said solemnly after examining her.
Michael grabbed the doctor's collar, his eyes red. "No matter the cost, you must save Lucy!"
"Yes, Mr. Clark!" The doctor replied, trembling.
Watching Lucy being treated, Michael felt as if his heart was being cut with a knife.
Lucy ended up like this all because of William.
If William had treated her a little better, Lucy wouldn't have tried to commit suicide.
Michael thought for a moment and dialed William's number.
William had just finished arranging everything and was about to go to Maplewood for disaster relief when his phone suddenly rang.
He took out his phone and saw it was Michael calling.
William answered the call and asked coldly, "Michael, what do you want?"
"Lucy tried to commit suicide because of you," Michael said with a hint of anger.
William was stunned, thinking Lucy must be crazy to commit suicide.
Seeing William's silence on the other end of the line, Michael suppressed his anger and tried to speak calmly, "Lucy is in the hospital for emergency treatment. You should come and see her."
