Chapter 76 I Am Marjorie

Lucy paused for a sec, then flashed a charming smile. "Yeah, I'm Marjorie. William, I'm your Marjorie!" she said, all shy-like.

William rubbed his temples, feeling like crap from all the booze. Was his Marjorie really here? Was it really her?

"You're wasted. Let me get you home." Lucy bent down and practically dragged William up.

"Marjorie, is that you? Really?" William slurred, leaning on Lucy, his voice a mix of disbelief and joy. Had the Marjorie he'd been searching for all these years finally come back?

"Yeah, it's me," Lucy said, her eyes glued to the man beside her.

It was the first time she'd been this close to William. Even drunk, his tall, straight figure and handsome face were enough to make anyone swoon.

Lucy reached out, her cold fingers trembling as she gently touched William's face. She'd loved him for years, but he'd always been distant. Now, she finally had the chance to be close to him, even if it was only because he was drunk and mistook her for someone else.

"Marjorie, why do you seem different?" William asked, feeling something was off. The girl in front of him said she was Marjorie, but she didn't give him that familiar feeling. There was no spark.

"I haven't changed. You're just drunk and seeing things." Lucy's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly pulled her hand back. She was scared William would figure out she wasn't Marjorie.

Lucy struggled to support William and finally got him down the mountain.

"Hey, give me a hand!" Lucy shouted to Grace and the driver. They quickly got out of the car and helped Lucy get William inside.

"Let's head back," Lucy said.

The driver hesitated and looked at Lucy cautiously. "Mr. Fisher's place?"

"The Clark family mansion," Lucy snapped.

Today, she finally had the chance to be close to William. No way was she missing this rare opportunity.

The driver quickly turned the car around and headed towards the Clark family mansion.

William leaned against the back seat, his handsome face slightly flushed from the alcohol, losing his usual cold and distant vibe, looking much softer.

Lucy stared at him, her heart racing.

William murmured, "Marjorie, Marjorie."

"I'm here," Lucy said, snapping back to reality and quickly holding William's hand.

"Marjorie, don't leave me," William mumbled, instinctively holding Lucy's hand back. His large hand, warm and firm, seemed to set Lucy's whole body on fire.

"Lucy, who's Marjorie?" Grace asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

Lucy frowned and glared at Grace. "I don't know either. Weren't you heading home?"

Grace got the hint and got out of the car.

The car sped along, and an hour later, it pulled into the Clark residence's gate.

Lucy carefully helped William out of the car. "William, we're here."

Margaret finished her work, and it was already past ten at night. It was rare for William not to call her to come home, so Margaret grabbed a cab back to Water Moon Estate.

The place was pitch black and empty. Margaret flicked on the lights and looked around; William was nowhere to be found.

She was puzzled. William wasn't at the office or home. Where could he be? He hadn't mentioned any plans tonight. Was he pissed because she told him to mind his own business this afternoon?

Convinced by her own assumption, Margaret raised an eyebrow. Who did he think he was?

Back in her room, Margaret texted Juniper about the progress at Leo Studio.

Juniper quickly replied: [Everything's normal]

Margaret opened her laptop, clicked on a hidden folder, and started tweaking her latest dress design. When she finished, she checked the time; it was already one in the morning.

And William still hadn't come home.

This was a first. Even if he had something going on, he'd usually text or call her. Could something have happened to him?

Margaret felt a vague sense of worry. After thinking for a moment, she pulled out her phone and dialed William's number.

In Lucy's room, she struggled to get William onto the bed and then helped him take off his coat.

William lay slanted on the bed, wearing only a white shirt with two undone buttons, showing off his strong chest. He murmured, "Marjorie, don't leave me."

"I won't leave you, never." Lucy's infatuated gaze fell on William.

So what if William mistook her for another woman? As long as they had that intimate moment, she believed William would fall for her!

Lucy wrapped her arms around his strong waist, resting her head on his chest, and said emotionally, "William, do you know how much I love you?"

In his daze, William felt a woman kissing him, saying she loved him, but the feeling was so off. This wasn't Marjorie! Marjorie had a faint fragrance, but the woman in his arms now had a strong perfume scent, not Marjorie's scent at all.

As Lucy was unbuttoning William's shirt, he suddenly pushed her away and said in a deep voice, "You're not Marjorie!"

Lucy was completely caught off guard and fell hard to the ground. She looked up at the familiar yet cold man in front of her, her eyes red. "William, you're drunk. I am Marjorie, I am Marjorie!"

William felt a splitting headache. He struggled to stand up but was too drunk and fell back onto the bed. Under the influence of alcohol, William closed his eyes and gradually fell asleep.

Looking at the man sleeping on the bed, Lucy's heart was filled with frustration. Why? Why wouldn't William touch her even when he was drunk?

At that moment, William's phone rang. Lucy took the phone out of William's coat pocket. The screen displayed: Margaret.

A cold smile appeared on Lucy's lips as she pressed the answer button, her tone carrying a hint of flirtation. "Hello, who is this?"
