Chapter 439 With You, It's Just Fine
William didn't expect Margaret to wake up. When she turned around, he was momentarily stunned but quickly regained his composure.
After all, Margaret was his wife. Why should he feel guilty about what he was doing?
With that thought, William felt more at ease. He lifted a corner of the blanket, lay down beside her, and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, letting her rest her head on his arm.
"I just haven't talked to you this closely in a long time. I wanted to hold you, Margaret."
Margaret lifted her head slightly, looking at William with confusion, waiting for him to continue.
"What's up?"
"Nothing," William replied, gazing at her with tenderness in his eyes. He held her a bit tighter. "I was just thinking that this time, I want to give you a grand engagement ceremony. Everything I owe you and everything you deserve, I want to give it all to you."
Margaret, being a woman, naturally felt sweet hearing such words, especially since William was her beloved.
She lowered her head slightly, a sweet smile appearing on her face. Tentatively, she wrapped her arms around William's waist. "You know, I don't really care about those things. As long as you're there at the engagement ceremony, that's enough for me."
After going through so much together, she no longer cared about those things. As long as she and William were by each other's side, that was enough.
"By the way, I'm leaving for Parislia tomorrow to participate in the fashion design competition. I'll be gone for about five or six days, not counting the travel time. Just wait for me to come back."
After saying goodbye to Bradley at the Fisher Manor, Margaret said this to William while sitting in the car.
William squeezed Margaret's hand, adjusted the car to a comfortable speed, and turned to look at her. "I'll go with you."
Margaret shook her head. "Isn't the company really busy lately? Just focus on your work and wait for me to come back. I promise I'll be fine."
"But you—" William hesitated. He wasn't too worried about work; he was more concerned about Margaret. "I remember you're afraid of heights. What if you get scared on the plane? I think I should go with you to take care of you."
William's sincere eyes made Margaret smile. She realized that having William by her side was the greatest happiness of her life.
Unable to help herself, when William parked the car by the roadside, Margaret instinctively leaned over, kissed him on the corner of his mouth, and held his wrist. "You're so good to me."
That kiss was like a switch, igniting a fire in William's heart. He wrapped his arm around Margaret's waist, pulling her close. Their faces were inches apart. William stared at her for a second or two before kissing her passionately, as if pouring all his love and strength into it.
Margaret quickly melted into the kiss, her hands wrapping around William's neck, responding to him gently.
Though the kiss was intense, William was mindful of his limits. After half a minute, he pulled back and said tenderly, "I just want you to know that no matter what, as long as I can, I'll always be by your side and won't let anything happen to you."
"I know," Margaret smiled, accepting William's decision to go to Parislia with her.
The next morning at ten, William had his private jet ready on the tarmac. After passing through security, he and Margaret boarded the plane together.
"Do you think anything will happen this time?"
Margaret was still a bit anxious, remembering the previous incident on a plane. Though she said she wasn't afraid of heights, she couldn't help but worry.
William gently reassured her, "Don't worry. With me by your side, nothing will happen."
Hearing this, Margaret nodded. The flight from Ravenford to Parislia took about six or seven hours. Everything was fine at first, but two hours in, the plane suddenly hit turbulence, shaking violently.
Margaret clutched her clothes tightly, her thumbs turning red from the pressure.
Noticing her distress, William instinctively held her close and called for the flight attendant. "What's going on?"
"We encountered some turbulence, but everything is fine now. Mr. Fisher and Ms. Scott, there's no need to worry."
William nodded, gently patting Margaret's shoulder to comfort her, his hand soothingly rubbing her back.
Margaret's face was still pale. The turbulence had brought back memories of a previous crash, which had also been caused by turbulence, and it had been much worse.
She was still shaken.
Instinctively, she grabbed William's sleeve, finally managing to speak. "Is it really okay now?"
"It's okay," William said softly.
He knew what Margaret was afraid of and what she cared about. As long as he was by her side, he would do anything to keep her safe.
"The flight attendant said it was just a bit of turbulence. Everything is fine now. We'll be in Parislia soon. Relax, okay?"
With William's constant reassurance, Margaret's tension gradually eased. She pulled away from his embrace, turning her face away in embarrassment.
William understood her shyness and didn't say anything more.
The rest of the flight was smooth, and six hours later, they arrived in Parislia.
At the airport, someone was waiting to pick them up and load their luggage into the car. William held Margaret's hand, her palm still a bit cold.
"I have a villa in Parislia. It's been cleaned and prepared for us. We'll stay there while you're at the competition."
"Okay."
Margaret nodded. When they arrived at the villa, she was delighted by the decor.
The minimalist style wasn't just black and white. The living room had a large sofa with cute plush toys, clearly meant for relaxation.
"This house is beautiful," Margaret said, looking around curiously. William watched her with a smile.
Margaret paused and turned to William, smiling. "I really like this house. The decor is lovely."
"If you like it, we can come here every year for a few days."
Margaret's smile widened. "I'd love that."
