Chapter 9: Two Sulking Children

Margaret turned around and saw William walking towards her. It was clear he had followed her out.

"After work, my time is mine,” she said, her tone laced with irony.

Margaret found William's unwarranted need for control quite laughable.

At that moment, a car stopped in front of them, and the driver got out of the passenger seat to open the door for them.

Margaret recognized it as William's car.

William glanced away and said, "Let's go back together to avoid any trouble that might reflect poorly on the Fisher family."

Margaret frowned. "No need. I'm not interested in your family's assets."

With that, Margaret started to walk away, but William grabbed her wrist firmly. "Get in the car!"

Meeting Margaret's angry gaze, William added. "Since I promised Grandpa that I would spend three months with you, you are my fiancée for this period. So I have a responsibility towards you."

Margaret pulled her arm back and got into the car first, her face full of disgust.

He was a hypocritical man, talking about responsibility. But in reality, he just couldn't stand a woman defying him. It was ridiculous.

Before coming here, Margaret had already felt that there was no way she and William would make any progress in these three months. Now it seemed that not only was William unpleasant and domineering, but he also had no sense of humor and didn't know how to interact with women.

Xavier was such a shrewd person! How could he be so unreliable in choosing a grandson-in-law?

Lucy, who had followed William out, was now standing behind a pillar at the door, watching William and Margaret get into the same car and leave. She stomped her foot in jealousy.

Lucy took out her phone from her bag and made a call. "I remember you said you wanted to be friends with me, right? Since we're friends, to show your sincerity, you should give me a gift."

Ella, though only a secretary, had the fortune of meeting Lucy at a banquet and wanted to join their socialite circle but was excluded due to her status.

Now that Lucy was calling her, Ella quickly agreed. "Of course. What do you need me to do?"

"It's simple. Margaret is working under you now. Secretly give her a hard time and warn her to stay away from William!" After a pause, Lucy added. "If you do well, I'll introduce you to the most generous ladies in the socialite circle. You'll enjoy endless benefits."

Ella was a bit hesitant at first, but now she was instantly excited. "Don't worry. Leave it to me."

In the car, William and Margaret sat in the back seat, leaving a large gap between them.

William turned to look at Margaret, who was still in the same position as when she got in, staring out the window.

"Your piano playing is quite good. When did you start learning?" he asked, breaking the silence.

Margaret looked at him, raising an eyebrow slightly, surprised that he would ask, "Just started."

William was speechless.

Margaret, however, seemed indifferent and smiled casually. "I watched Lucy play once and remembered it. Am I not smart?"

William was annoyed by her answer and turned his head away. "Hypocritical woman! I can't communicate with someone like you."

"You started the conversation! I would rather not say a word to you!" Margaret fumed.

Margaret also turned her head away, not looking at him. They resembled two children sulking, each lost in their own stubbornness.
