Chapter 84 Margaret, You're Jealous
William stepped up, slamming his hands on the wall, boxing Margaret in. His lips were a thin, tight line, and his voice was ice-cold. "You're my fiancée. How dare you go out with another guy right in front of me?"
The chill from William's words froze the whole restaurant.
Margaret met his angry stare, not backing down. "You can spend the night with Lucy, but I can't have dinner with Lyle?"
Thinking about last night's call and Lucy's smug tone, Margaret felt a stab in her heart.
William was momentarily thrown by her words. Did he really spend the night with Lucy? What the heck?
"How'd you know that?" William asked, his eyes narrowing.
Margaret glared at him, "If you don't want people to know, don't do it. How I found out is none of your business!"
William nodded slightly, seeing the jealousy in Margaret's eyes, her face looking like a wife catching her husband cheating.
William chuckled, his lips curling up, drawing out his words. "Margaret, are you jealous?"
Though it was a question, his tone was pretty sure of itself.
Margaret thought, 'Jealous? Please! You ain't my husband!'
"Nope." Margaret glared at him. "Who are you? Why should I be jealous? What do I care if you're with Lucy? You're charming and surrounded by beauties. What does that have to do with me?"
Seeing her all fired up, William suddenly felt in a good mood. His deep gaze fell on Margaret's lips, and he suddenly leaned in and kissed her, shutting her up completely.
Feeling the heat from William's lips, Margaret's heart started racing like crazy. At that moment, it was like a jolt of electricity hit Margaret, burning her face and making her breath heavy.
Margaret instinctively struggled, trying to push William away, but he pinned her against the wall, making it impossible for her to move.
"Don't move." William's deep, husky voice sounded, his dark eyes filled with intense desire, like a raging fire. His tongue pried open Margaret's lips and teeth, exploring inside.
Margaret's mind seemed to crash in that instant, and she inexplicably stopped struggling.
Their breaths intertwined, William's kiss was like a storm, domineering, passionate, and lingering. The temperature in the restaurant kept rising, and the air filled with a romantic scent.
It was unclear how long it lasted, but just when Margaret thought she would suffocate, William finally ended the kiss, albeit reluctantly.
"William, you jerk!" Margaret snapped back to reality, glaring at him with shame and anger.
She pondered, 'Oh my God, what was I doing just now? Why didn't I push him away!'
William chuckled lowly, leaning in to whisper, "I have nothing to do with Lucy. Last night was my father's death anniversary. I went to the cemetery to pay my respects and accidentally got drunk. Lucy took me to her place, that's all. There's nothing between us."
Margaret was a bit taken aback. Was William actually explaining himself to her?
Snapping back to reality, Margaret snorted. "I don't care if you're involved with her or not."
Seeing Margaret still looking jealous, William raised an eyebrow and pulled her back to the table, a slight smirk on his lips. "Let's eat."
In Margaret's surprised gaze, William called the waiter. "Another steak for me."
"Didn't you say the food here sucked?" Margaret said irritably.
William, in high spirits, elegantly took a bite of his steak, holding the knife and fork with his long fingers. "Haven't you heard? When people are happy, their mood improves, and so does their appetite."
He kissed her forcibly, and that was a happy thing?
Glaring at William angrily, Margaret's stomach growled. William smiled. "Eat up. Don't starve."
Margaret swallowed, picked up her steak, and started eating heartily. No matter what, she wasn't going to go against her own stomach.
"By the way, what happened with Ella today? Why did she come looking for trouble again?" William glanced at Margaret.
Today's incident was clearly Ella provoking Margaret first, resulting in her own misfortune of nearly drowning and now being in a coma. However, because of Abigail and Steven's testimony, Margaret would still face some trouble. The key now was to find evidence of Ella's actions. Once they had that, everything would be resolved.
Margaret smirked. "Isn't it because of you? You don't know Ella likes you?"
William chuckled. Margaret was jealous again.
"What are you laughing at?" Margaret paused, her eyebrows furrowing. William's laugh was so mischievous.
"Nothing." William glanced at Margaret with a half-smile, finding her jealousy quite adorable.
Seeing Margaret quickly finish her steak, William reached over, placing his own cut steak onto her plate. "Try mine."
With the tension gone, the restaurant's atmosphere became inexplicably warm.
Just then, William's phone rang. It was Peter calling.
"What's up?" William answered, his voice deep.
"Sir, our people found Thaddeus," Peter reported.
William nodded, his expression indifferent. "Did you find out who was behind it?"
"No, just the day after we found him, he had a car accident and died," Peter answered.
They were so close to finding out who was behind it. But alas, they failed.
"Dead?" William's eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "Keep investigating."
"Yes!"
Seeing William hang up, Margaret asked, "What happened?"
William spoke in a deep voice, "We found Thaddeus, but he died in a car accident."
"What? Dead?" Margaret was surprised. How could it be such a coincidence? It seemed like there was a hidden hand controlling everything.
Who could it be?
