Chapter 397 This Is Just a Plan
William waited until the two people left before helping Angel to the couch. He then grabbed the first aid kit to tend to her wounds.
As soon as the iodine touched Angel's hand, she winced and pulled her hand back slightly.
"I'll be as gentle as I can, but it might sting a bit," William said, looking at her with concern as he carefully disinfected and bandaged her wound. "How long were they here? They didn't give you too much trouble, did they?"
Angel, seeing William's concern, felt even happier. She shook her head obediently in response to his question.
"Your mom and cousin just got here. They were only trying to look out for you. They didn't say anything too harsh."
William frowned slightly, pondering for a moment before saying, "Next time they come, you don't have to deal with them. Just call me."
Angel smiled, her heart brimming with joy, but she maintained a composed demeanor and nodded.
"Okay."
She felt secure in her relationship with William. Once the wedding was over, what could Jack possibly do to her?
Not long after William finished bandaging Angel's hand, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and his expression turned serious. He answered the call, responding affirmatively several times.
"Alright, I understand. I'll be there right away."
"What's wrong? Is something the matter?" Angel asked, concerned.
William stood up and reassured her, "It's nothing. Just some issues at the company. I need to head back for a bit, but I'll be back soon. You just wait here for me."
Angel nodded, "Okay."
At the Fisher Manor, Bradley sat on the couch with a stern expression. The butler stood nearby, trying to calm him down. "Mr. Bradley Fisher, please don't be upset. Let's wait for Mr. William Fisher to come back and explain."
It was Bradley who had called William. The media had been buzzing with reports about William "abandoning" Margaret to marry Angel. The news was all over the internet and newspapers, and Bradley had seen it.
He was furious.
To him, Margaret was the only suitable granddaughter-in-law. How could a woman like Angel, who came from a bar, compare to Margaret?
He needed to get to the bottom of this with William.
Just as the butler finished speaking, William walked in. He saw Bradley's stern and displeased expression as he sat on the couch.
William remained calm, walked over, and stood in front of him. He nodded slightly and asked gently, "Grandpa, what did you need to see me about?"
"What do you think?" Bradley slammed a newspaper onto the table. The front page featured a photo collage of Angel and William.
The headline read: "Margaret Out, Angel In: Where Does the Fisher Group President's Heart Lie?"
Bradley pointed to the bold headline and looked at his grandson, asking in a deep voice, "What's going on with you and this Angel? Are you not marrying Margaret?"
William sighed and shook his head slightly. He reached out to calm Bradley, saying, "Grandpa, don't be upset. This is something Margaret and I planned together."
"Planned together?" Bradley was initially furious, unable to understand why William would give up on someone as good as Margaret for someone like Angel.
But hearing William's explanation, he was completely baffled by the young people's plan.
"Yeah, it's part of a plan Margaret and I came up with. Grandpa, let me explain..."
After William explained their plan to use Angel to lure out a "big fish," Bradley finally relaxed and patted William's shoulder. "So that's your plan. Alright, I feel better now."
Bradley paused and then pointed at William, warning him, "But remember, William, this is just an act. You better not let Margaret down. She's a good girl."
"Grandpa, I know," William said earnestly. "She's the one I want to spend my life with. I won't let her down."
Bradley's expression softened, and he nodded, feeling reassured.
Seeing this, William knew there was no need for further explanation. He stayed with Bradley for a while longer before heading back to Water Moon Estate.
When Angel saw William return, she greeted him with a bright smile, linking her arm with his and leading him to the couch. She then brought out a plate of freshly cut oranges and placed it on the coffee table.
"William, you work so hard at the company every day. Have some fruit to soothe your throat. What would you like for dinner? I'll cook for you."
Seeing her bustling around, William smiled and pulled her to sit beside him. "Your hand is injured. Don't worry about cooking tonight. And you seem to be buttering me up. Is there something you want to ask me?"
Angel laughed, her intentions revealed. She nestled closer to William and said, "William, I made an appointment at a boutique wedding dress shop. Since our wedding is coming up, I wanted to try on some dresses. Do you have time to come with me tomorrow?"
Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she looked at him.
William sighed, his smile fading slightly. He only wanted to do such things with Margaret.
Sensing his subtle change in mood, Angel asked cautiously, "William, are you busy tomorrow?"
"I've been swamped with work lately. I have two meetings tomorrow," William said, trying to muster some enthusiasm. He patted her head gently and handed her a card from his wallet. "You go ahead by yourself tomorrow. Buy whatever you like. This card is for you. Use it as you please."
Angel's eyes lit up when she saw the card. She took it with a smile and nodded, "Alright, thank you, William!"
The next morning, Angel arrived at Pure • Your Wedding Dress Shop. She approached the receptionist and said, "Hi, I have an appointment to try on a wedding dress today. It's the handmade lace one."
"Angel, right? Please follow me," the sales associate said, checking the appointment book and smiling politely. She led Angel to the dress, a pure white gown with layers of hand-stitched lace and pearl embellishments. The nine-foot train made it look like a dress fit for a fairytale princess.
