Chapter 210 The President of BPL

Margaret squinted her eyes, giving Angel a once-over. Angel didn't match up with the Marjorie that William had painted—a self-sacrificing hero. Nah, she seemed more like she was hiding something big.

With the dirt Anthony dug up yesterday, Margaret was even more convinced that Angel had some massive secret stashed away. If she could just crack this mystery, William would see through Angel's fake act.

Margaret stayed quiet, just eyeing Angel with a look that said, "I know who you really are." Angel's face twisted in annoyance. Just as she was about to snap, Margaret's phone rang.

It was William! Angel's heart dropped, and she shot Margaret a suspicious look.

Ignoring Angel's glare, Margaret picked up the phone and said coolly, "Hey, William, what's up?"

"Margaret, get to my office," William's smooth voice came through.

Margaret nodded, "Sure thing."

After hanging up, she glanced at Angel's pissed-off face, smirked, and said, "William needs me. Move it!"

"Margaret, you..." Angel's eyes blazed, but Margaret cut her off, "William only called for me."

With Angel fuming behind her, Margaret took the elevator to the eighteenth floor. Standing outside the CEO's office, she felt a bit jittery. 'Why's William calling me so early? Must be something big.'

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

"Come in!" William's voice rang out.

Margaret walked in. William was sitting there, looking sharp in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a couple of buttons undone, showing off a bit of his chest. He looked both cocky and irresistible. Peter was standing next to him, looking all serious.

William glanced up, his eyes locking onto Margaret. She pulled herself together and walked up to him. "What's up?"

William said, "I've got some info on BPL. Let's check it out."

He nodded at Peter, who plugged in a USB and pulled up some files.

"Here's what I've got on BPL's CEO, Jack Phillips. He's thirty-one and started BPL five years ago," Peter said, showing a photo.

Margaret's eyes widened. 'No way!'

The guy in the photo was the same dude she bumped into at the airport, the one who got into a car accident and she helped out. And now, he was the CEO of BPL, the one who bought out Royal Radiance and made those fake "Ice and Fire" pieces, causing all that trouble for the Fisher Group? Was their airport run-in just a coincidence?

"Margaret, you okay?" William noticed her zoning out and frowned.

Margaret snapped back. "Oh, nothing."

"Do you know him?" William raised an eyebrow.

Margaret shook her head. "Nope."

Peter kept going, "Word is, Jack's back in town, and BPL's gunning for the North Bay project."

Margaret froze for a sec. William had made it clear he was dead set on snagging the North Bay project.

In Ravenford, when William wanted something, nobody dared to get in his way. But now, Jack's BPL was stepping up to the plate, ready to go head-to-head with William. Given the whole Royal Radiance mess, it was hard to believe Jack wasn't gunning for the Fisher Group on purpose.

"Mr. Fisher, that's all we got on Jack," Peter said, flipping to the last page of the report.

William's face turned icy. "Keep tabs on BPL."

"Got it, Mr. Fisher!" Peter said seriously, "If there's nothing else, I'll get back to work."

Peter left the room, closing the door behind him. As he walked away, he spotted Angel heading over.

Peter stopped her. "Angel."

"Is William in the CEO's office? I need to see him," Angel asked, playing innocent.

Peter smiled. "He's tied up. By the way, about the North Bay project, Mr. Fisher asked me to give you some info. Why don't you come to my office to get it?"

Angel nodded. "Sure, thanks."

Peter led Angel to his office, thinking he was really going all out for William's happiness.

Back in the CEO's office, it was just Margaret and William.

"William."

"Margaret."

They spoke at the same time. The air got a bit awkward.

William's intense gaze landed on Margaret, his lips parting slightly. "You first."

"Okay," Margaret nodded, cleared her throat, and said, "About Royal Radiance ripping off our 'Ice and Fire' jewelry, I've got a plan."

William seemed a bit distracted. "Oh, really?"

"Since we can't prove they copied us right away, we need to up our game and innovate," Margaret said, biting her lip. She'd been mulling it over for days, and this seemed like the only way to go.

If the Fisher Group could level up the "Ice and Fire" design, adding some killer features and making a more stunning V2 version, they could win back their customers. Plus, they needed to slap a design patent on it ASAP, so Royal Radiance couldn't rip them off again.

"I'll think about it," William said, loosening his tie in frustration.

Margaret said calmly, "This seems like our best bet for now. Please decide soon. If there's nothing else, I'll get back to work."

With that, Margaret turned to leave. Behind her, William's cold voice stopped her. "Margaret, did I say you could go?"

He suddenly stood up, took a step forward, blocking her way, and said with no expression, "Margaret, is business all you want to talk about with me?"
