Chapter 158 I Am Marjorie

Thinking about tonight's engagement party and the surprise he had lined up for Margaret, William couldn't help but smirk. His strong hand gripped the steering wheel tight as he cruised towards the Fisher Group.

Out of nowhere, a chick in a white dress, running like her life depended on it and glancing over her shoulder, darted right into the road, straight for William's car. William's face turned dark, and he slammed on the brakes.

The tires screeched like a banshee. Even with his quick reflexes, he still clipped the woman. Scowling, William popped open the car door, got out, and looked down at the pale-faced woman sprawled on the ground.

She looked kinda familiar.

William rubbed his temples, trying to place her. Yeah, she was the singer at Enigma Bar. He'd heard her sing a few times. What the hell was she doing running into the road like that? Luckily, it didn't seem like she was too banged up.

William asked, cool as a cucumber, "You alright?"

Angel grabbed William's foot in a panic, her eyes darting behind her. "Sir, please help me!"

William frowned, yanking his foot away, about to say something when two big dudes came charging towards Angel. One of them, a burly guy with a bushy beard, yanked her up from the ground and growled, "You bitch, trying to run?"

With a loud rip, the guy tore Angel's dress at the collar, exposing her shoulder.

Out of the corner of his eye, William spotted a plum blossom-shaped birthmark on her white shoulder. William's eyes narrowed. That birthmark? It looked way too familiar. Deep in his memory, the little girl from his past had the same birthmark on her shoulder.

"Marjorie?" William stared at the birthmark, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Angel, stunned, grabbed William's arm again, her tear-filled eyes locked on his face, and said excitedly, "Are you William?"

That voice! It was so familiar! Back then, Marjorie had called him just like that! Could this fragile, desperate girl really be Marjorie?

Old memories started flooding back. William's mind was a mess.

"You bitch, our boss likes you, and you should be grateful! So many women would kill for this, and you're getting it for free!" The bearded guy yanked Angel hard and slapped her. "Now come with me!"

Angel covered her face with her hand, shaking all over, and looked at William with pleading eyes. "William, help me! Please help me!"

Angel's words echoed in William's ears. Back then, when Marjorie fell off the cliff, her last words were the same, 'William, help me! Please help me!'

William didn't hesitate anymore, his cold eyes locking onto the two men. "What do you want with her?"

His powerful presence made the tough guys suddenly back off. "This woman owes our boss money. It's only fair and legal to repay debts!"

William pulled out a check, scribbled a number, and tossed it at the bearded guy, saying coldly, "Get lost!"

The two guys' eyes lit up when they saw the number on the check, and they quickly snatched it off the ground. "We're outta here."

"William, thank you." Angel clung to William's hand, her eyes a whirlwind of excitement, happiness, shock, and a bunch of other emotions. She had so much to say but didn't know where to start.

Feeling the cold touch of her fingers, William narrowed his eyes a bit, his tone skeptical. "Are you really Marjorie?"

"Yes, I'm Marjorie." Angel nodded like her life depended on it.

The cool breeze blew over Angel, and her already thin dress, torn by those goons, made her look as fragile as a paper doll, swaying like she might collapse any second.

William's Adam's apple bobbed. He had a million questions but didn't know where to begin. Where had Marjorie been all these years? Why couldn't he find her?

"William! I finally found you!" Seeing William's scrutinizing gaze, Angel's voice trembled, and she swayed before collapsing into his arms.

"Marjorie, Marjorie?" William instinctively reached out to catch her. "What's wrong?"

The woman in his arms, pale and furrowed-browed, had already passed out.

As soon as Margaret and Juniper walked into RD Boutique Styling House, the store manager greeted them warmly, "Ms. Scott, your dress and stylist are ready. Mr. Fisher personally picked them out for you."

"Thanks." Margaret smiled politely and took the dress.

She had to admit, William had good taste. Even Juniper chimed in, "This dress could rival the ones from our own collection. Looks like your man really put some thought into it."

Margaret pretended to be annoyed and glared at Juniper before following the stylist inside. Seeing Margaret's shy demeanor, Juniper chuckled. Only a guy as amazing as William could be a match for her.

An hour later, after getting all dolled up, Margaret walked out, and Juniper's jaw practically hit the floor.

Juniper knew Margaret was beautiful, but she had never realized just how stunning she could be! Her flowing, slightly curled hair cascaded to her shoulders, and the red dress hugged her graceful figure, oozing elegance and class.

"Margaret, you look absolutely stunning today!" Juniper gushed, genuinely impressed by the woman who looked like a beautiful and noble Venus. "Tonight, you'll definitely be the most dazzling bride-to-be!"

Margaret felt a bit awkward with all the praise and glanced at the time. "It's getting late."

"What's the rush?" Juniper teased, "Can't wait to see your man?"

"I'll give him a call." Margaret picked up her phone and dialed William's number. William's phone was off, and Margaret bit her lip, shaking her head.

Noticing Margaret's uneasy expression, Juniper quickly dropped her teasing and asked with concern, "What's wrong, Margaret?"

"I can't reach William's phone," Margaret frowned and replied.
