Chapter 63 The Endorser

In the next few days, Margaret and William were giving each other the cold shoulder.

Neither of them brought up what went down that day. Margaret made sure to keep her distance from William, and he went back to his usual icy, distant self.

Margaret threw herself into the "Ice and Fire" project, which was going smoother than butter and even beating expectations.

Bruce was stoked about it.

As soon as Margaret got the samples, she hit up Bruce. "Hey, the 'Ice and Fire' samples are ready. Got time now? I can bring them over."

Bruce was pleasantly surprised. "Already?"

"Yep." Margaret was pretty pleased with the speed too. "You at the Royal Palace Hotel? I'll swing by."

"Cool, room 808," Bruce replied.

Margaret headed to room 808 at the Royal Palace Hotel, where Bruce was waiting.

"Here are the new 'Ice and Fire' samples. Check 'em out and let me know if anything needs tweaking." Margaret carefully pulled the samples from her bag and handed them over.

Bruce took a good look at them and couldn't stop raving. "These are perfect! Just what I was hoping for."

"If you're happy with them, we can start shooting the commercial ASAP and then launch 'Ice and Fire' to the market," Margaret said with a grin.

Bruce nodded, eyes gleaming with excitement. "Can't wait to get this out there."

Margaret was about to ask Bruce about the commercial shoot when there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Bruce called out.

A flirty voice came from outside. "Darling, it's me."

Margaret shot Bruce a puzzled look.

Bruce got up and opened the door.

Standing there was a mixed-race girl with blonde hair, blue eyes, a tall figure, tanned skin, and a fiery red dress, oozing charm.

"Annie? What are you doing here?" Bruce looked a bit taken aback.

Annie Caldwell was his girlfriend from Fleurancia, a small-time actress he had just started dating.

"I missed you, so I flew over to see you." Annie gave Bruce a flirty glance and planted a passionate kiss on him.

Bruce looked a bit embarrassed and mouthed, "We have a guest, don't make a scene."

Only then did Annie notice Margaret sitting nearby. She let go of Bruce and asked suspiciously, "Who's she?"

"Let me introduce you." Bruce raised an eyebrow. "This is Annie, my girlfriend."

He then introduced Margaret. "This is Margaret, a partner from the Fisher Group."

"Hey, Annie." Margaret smiled politely. "Since you have company, should we reschedule?"

"No need." Bruce sat back down next to Margaret. "Work comes first. Let's keep going."

Margaret nodded and pulled out some documents. "These are the candidates for the 'Ice and Fire' commercial. Take a look and pick who you think fits."

"A commercial shoot? Can I do it?" Annie jumped in eagerly.

As an actress, Annie had been struggling for years to get noticed. It wasn't until she met Bruce and charmed her way into being his girlfriend that she started getting some attention.

The Fisher Group was a big deal, and if she could be the face of their commercial, her value would skyrocket.

Annie was dead set on grabbing this chance.

Bruce looked a bit stressed. "Annie, don't start."

"I'm serious." Annie snatched Margaret's commercial docs and skimmed through them. "This gig is perfect for me. It's like it was made for me. Bruce, you promised I could pick my birthday gift. Well, I want to be the endorser for the Fisher Group. You gotta keep your word."

Bruce looked at Margaret, clearly in a bind. "What do you think about Annie?"

Margaret's brow furrowed a bit. "We can give it a shot."

Honestly, Annie's look was pretty spot-on, but she was a bit too sultry. She nailed the "fire" part but was kinda lacking in the "ice" department.

Annie nodded, satisfied, and asked, "Who's the male lead? I hope it's Lyle."

Margaret's brow twitched.

To be fair, Lyle was a solid pick.

"Lyle? I've seen his movies, he's awesome." Bruce agreed. "I think he's perfect for the 'Ice and Fire' gig."

"If you think Lyle's the guy, I'll reach out to him," Margaret said, sticking to the customer-is-always-right mantra.

After leaving the Royal Palace Hotel, Margaret called Lyle.

"Margaret." Lyle sounded pleasantly surprised to hear from her.

"Hey, it's me. I need your help with a couple of things," Margaret said, keeping it cool.

"Shoot." Lyle's voice was deep. "Even if it's a thousand things, I got you."

Margaret sighed softly. She couldn't handle Lyle's affectionate tone; it made her feel bad for turning him down.

But she had to get to the point.

Margaret cleared her throat. "First thing, we got secretly photographed at the café the other day. Any idea who did it?"

"Secretly photographed?" Lyle echoed.

"Yeah, and the pics got sent to William." Margaret's tone got heavy just thinking about that day.

"He didn't give you a hard time, did he?" Lyle asked, sounding worried.

"No. Do you think it was one of your fans?" Margaret asked.

Lyle squinted, thinking about the photos on Grace's phone. Could it be her?

But he had checked and deleted all those pics.

"I'll get someone on it right away. Give me some time." Lyle's voice had a hint of guilt. If it was his fan, then it was on him for dragging Margaret into this.

"Okay." Margaret nodded. "The other thing is, the 'Ice and Fire' project I'm handling is about to launch. I want you to be the endorser. You got time?"

"Absolutely." Lyle agreed without a second thought.

If Margaret asked, he wouldn't say no. Even if he was swamped, he'd clear his schedule.

"Thanks. Can you come to the Fisher Group for an audition tomorrow afternoon?" Margaret asked.

"No problem." Lyle's lips curled up at the thought of seeing Margaret the next day.

Margaret also set up an audition for Annie the next afternoon and then headed back to the Fisher Group.

As soon as she got to her desk, before she could even sit down, Mabel, who sat next to her, said, "Margaret, Mr. Fisher wants you in his office ASAP."

Margaret nodded calmly. "Got it."

But inside, she was on high alert. Why was William looking for her? What did he want?
