Chapter 417 Kidnapping Angel
Steven was hanging out with some friends when he saw Abigail's call. He perked up instantly and answered, "Hey, Abigail! What's up?"
Abigail didn't waste any time. She was determined to teach Angel a lesson. "I need you to do something for me. Kidnap Angel. You know who she is, right?"
Steven was momentarily stunned but quickly replied, "Yeah, I know. She's the one getting engaged to William. It's all over the news."
"But..." Steven hesitated.
He had always had a thing for Abigail, which was why he was willing to do anything for her, including that incident with Ella. But he was also frustrated. His actions could be seen as devotion, but in a less flattering light, he was just a doormat.
Abigail's attitude drove him nuts. Every time he thought his efforts might bring them closer, she would immediately cool off towards him.
He didn't want to be like this anymore.
He wanted to be with Abigail.
There was a long pause on the other end of the line. Abigail, already impatient and irritable, snapped, "But what? If you have something to say, spit it out."
Steven believed he had found Abigail's weak spot. If he didn't agree, she, as a woman, wouldn't have the means to kidnap Angel.
Steven's tone suddenly became lighter, but his attitude was serious. "Kidnapping isn't a small matter. If you want me to help you kidnap Angel, fine. But Abigail, if I take this risk for you and succeed, I want you to be my girlfriend."
"That's my only condition. Do you agree?"
Abigail pressed her lips together, her brow furrowing slightly, showing clear signs of impatience and disdain.
She knew Steven liked her, but she never saw him as anything more than a backup option.
In Abigail's eyes, no one compared to William. She only had feelings for William.
But now, Steven's condition put her in a difficult position. She didn't want to agree, but she had no other choice.
Steven was the only one willing to risk everything for her.
"Abigail?"
Steven's voice came through the phone again, snapping her back to reality. Reluctantly, she said, "You said it's after you succeed, right? It depends on your performance. If Angel ends up in your hands, then..."
Abigail gritted her teeth, "I'll agree."
Her answer was vague, but Steven took her last words as a promise. He was overjoyed and agreed readily, "You promised. Wait for my news."
After hanging up, Abigail let out a long breath, but soon a smug smile appeared on her face.
Angel, you would see what I'm capable of!
That evening, Angel was supposed to check on her wedding dress at the bridal shop before the engagement ceremony. It was 4 PM, and she had a few hours left. Amy and the others had returned to the bar.
At 4:30 PM, Angel left the bridal shop, her heart brimming with joy, only to be ambushed by several men. One of them clamped a hand over her mouth from behind, while the others scanned the surroundings.
Angel struggled, but they overpowered her and forced her into a van.
Inside the van, Angel cried out, "Who are you? What do you want? Do you know who I am?"
Before she could finish, a burly man taped her mouth shut and bound her hands behind her back.
"You only have yourself to blame for crossing the wrong person!"
Angel was terrified, unsure of what awaited her. She tried to speak but could only make muffled sounds.
The van drove further away, eventually reaching an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town.
Angel was dragged out, shoved into the warehouse, and thrown to the ground. She leaned against a tire, eyes wide with fear, trying to back away.
Abigail emerged from the shadows, a smug smile on her face. She signaled to the burly man to remove the tape from Angel's mouth.
The moment Angel saw Abigail, her eyes widened in realization.
The tape was ripped off roughly, but Angel ignored the pain, glaring at Abigail. She shouted, "Abigail! Are you crazy? Let me go! What are you doing?"
"What am I doing?" Abigail sneered, as if Angel's question was a joke. "I want to see what happens to you without William."
Her eyes gleamed with malice as she stared coldly at Angel.
Angel immediately thought of William, clinging to the hope that mentioning him might make Abigail release her.
"William, Abigail, I'm telling you, kidnapping me is a crime. William and I are supposed to get engaged tonight. If he can't find me, he'll be worried! You better let me go!"
Abigail laughed dismissively, "Who do you think you are? Just a singer at a bar, and you think you can marry into our family?"
Her expression turned cold, her eyes filled with madness and obsession.
"William is mine. No one else can have him!"
She pulled out a knife, its blade glinting menacingly. Abigail looked at the knife thoughtfully.
"If your face were ruined..."
She looked up at Angel, a crazed smile on her face. "Would my cousin still like you?"
Seeing the knife, Angel's heart raced with fear. She tried to back away.
"Abigail! Don't come any closer. What are you doing? I'm telling you, this is illegal!"
[Abigail's lost it. She's gone mad!]
Abigail stepped closer, her eyes gleaming with malice. "I'm going to ruin your face. Then William will be mine, forever."
With no escape, Angel's eyes filled with tears of fear. As Abigail approached, she instinctively closed her eyes, her heart pounding with terror.
