Chapter 398 Is He Really Going to Marry Someone Else?

When Angel first laid eyes on the wedding dress, her face lit up with pure joy. She couldn't help but smile, clearly in love with the dress.

"Ms. Walsh, if you like this dress, I can help you try it on. It's the most exquisite one we have, and I think it suits you perfectly," the sales assistant said, eager to make the sale. She knew Angel was the future wife of the Fisher Group's CEO—a VIP and a valuable customer.

Angel nodded enthusiastically. "I'll take this one!"

Half an hour later, the sales assistant pulled back the dressing room curtain, and Angel stepped out wearing the handmade wedding dress. Her hair was styled in a bridal updo, complemented by a handcrafted pearl crown, exuding an air of elegance.

Angel walked to the mirror and looked at her reflection, her eyes sparkling with delight. She never imagined she could look so beautiful as a bride. It was a pleasant surprise.

The sales assistant was momentarily stunned but quickly resumed her praise. "I knew it! This dress looks absolutely perfect on you. Mr. Fisher will be blown away when he sees you."

Angel was basking in the compliments when a voice called out from a distance, "Angel!"

Angel turned to see a woman approaching her with a smile. "I didn't expect to see you here. Are you here to try on wedding dresses? Let me introduce myself; I'm a journalist."

Angel paused for a moment, then politely nodded and gave a professional smile. "Hello."

The journalist glanced at Angel and smiled. "This wedding dress looks amazing on you, Angel. You look even more beautiful than the pictures in the newspapers. Is Mr. Fisher not with you today?"

The journalist was thrilled to have stumbled upon such a big story. If she could write the first-hand account, a promotion and raise were surely in her future.

Angel smiled, her face radiating happiness. "William has been very busy with work lately, so he asked me to come and try on the dress myself. He told me that we are going to have the most grand wedding, one that will be unforgettable. Am I talking too much?"

Angel admitted she was being strategic. Since the woman was a journalist, she knew her words would be published, and soon everyone would know that William was going to marry her. Margaret wouldn't stand a chance.

The journalist was delighted and quickly reassured her. "No, no, it's perfectly natural for you and Mr. Fisher to be getting married. He must treat you very well."

Angel's eyes sparkled with pride. "He spoils me. He even had this wedding dress custom-made for me. He said we would honeymoon in Paris."

Angel didn't lower her voice; she wanted the whole world to know that she was the future wife of the Fisher Group's CEO.

Sure enough, a few days later, the news was all over the TV: "Angel tries on wedding dress, confirmed as CEO's wife?"

Margaret saw the news at home and felt a mix of emotions. She paused and put down her book.

Margaret felt like her heart was clogged with glue, suffocating her. Although she and William had planned this, seeing Angel trying on the wedding dress in the news made her momentarily dazed.

For a moment, she wondered if William was really going to marry someone else.

Margaret furrowed her brows, placed a hand on her chest, swallowed hard, and forced down the bitter feeling. She composed herself and headed to the hospital to take care of Lyle.

At the hospital.

Margaret was cutting an orange for Lyle, but it was clear her mind was elsewhere.

Lyle kept glancing at Margaret, studying her expression.

He had seen the news about Angel trying on the wedding dress that morning.

Lyle was furious. He thought William was being fickle, publicly announcing his relationship with Angel while still holding onto Margaret.

"Here, eat this." Margaret placed a slice of orange in Lyle's hand and smiled faintly. As she was about to pull her hand back, Lyle grabbed her wrist.

"Margaret." Lyle couldn't hold back any longer and called her name.

He looked into Margaret's eyes, speaking quickly with obvious urgency and anger. "I know you've always liked William, but he's not worth it. You must have seen the news—Angel is trying on wedding dresses. They're getting married, and everyone knows it!"

Lyle's chest heaved slightly. Margaret lowered her eyes and remained silent.

To Lyle, her silence seemed like sadness.

"William broke up with you not long ago. He's not worth your trust. He was blind to give you up and get engaged to someone like Angel. Don't be sad over him."

"Margaret, you've been taking care of me these past few days. You know how I feel about you. I may not be as wealthy as William, but he can't give you happiness. I can. I can wait for you, even if you don't like me now. We can take our time to develop feelings. Please, accept me."

Lyle had been struggling with his feelings, and it took all his courage to confess to Margaret.

In his eyes, William didn't deserve Margaret.

Margaret took a deep breath and pulled her hand away from Lyle. She hadn't figured out how to explain everything to him.

She pretended not to notice Lyle's earnest gaze and adjusted his blanket. "Focus on getting better first. We'll talk about this after you're discharged."

Lyle paused, then slowly withdrew his hand and nodded slightly. "Okay, I'll listen to you."

Seraphina was just outside the door.

She had come to visit Lyle with a basket of fruit, but as she reached the door, she overheard Lyle's confession to Margaret.

Seraphina's smile froze and slowly faded. She lowered her eyes, hiding the disappointment in them.

So, Lyle liked Margaret that much?

Of course, Margaret was wonderful and had taken good care of them. It was only natural for Lyle to like her.

Seraphina tightened her grip on the fruit basket, not caring that the woven bamboo handle was digging painfully into her palm. Her heart felt heavy with sadness.
