Chapter 393 The Strange Woman
Angel was stunned. Since she moved to Water Moon Estate, William had never acted like this.
She pressed her lips together, glanced at William's face, and walked away.
At the hospital.
After William left, Margaret sat in the hospital room, staring at Lyle, who still had his eyes closed.
He had just undergone surgery, and his wounds were bandaged. Margaret pressed her lips tightly, not saying a word.
She knew how Lyle felt about her, but what was she supposed to do?
Her phone suddenly chimed, snapping her out of her thoughts. She picked it up and saw a message from Seraphina.
"Margaret, Grace was taken by the police. How is Mr. Pennington?"
"He just finished surgery and hasn't woken up yet."
After replying, Margaret turned off her phone. The TV in the hospital room was broadcasting the news.
"An accident occurred on the set of 'The Last Actor.' Well-known artist Mr. Pennington was shot. The suspect has been taken into custody and is under investigation."
The screen showed a woman in handcuffs—Grace.
At the Clark Family residence.
Lucy sat on the couch, flipping through TV channels in frustration. She stumbled upon the news about the incident on the set of 'The Last Actor' and Grace being taken by the police.
She immediately sat up straight, her eyes fixed on the screen, her delicate face contorted with anger.
Useless fool!
Lucy had planned to use Grace to get rid of Margaret, but Grace had failed again!
What a waste!
Lucy gritted her teeth in fury, slapping the couch in frustration.
She should never have trusted that idiot Grace. Not only did she fail to eliminate Margaret, but she also injured Lyle, complicating matters further!
"Lucy, what's wrong?"
Hearing Michael's voice, Lucy quickly composed herself, turning to him with a smile.
"Nothing, just got caught up in a TV show."
Michael nodded, sitting beside Lucy and handing her an address. "I found a renowned plastic surgeon in Valeria. I've booked a flight for you at 10 AM the day after tomorrow. He should be able to fix the scar on your wrist. Scars aren't very becoming on a young lady."
Lucy glanced at the note, hesitated, then nodded.
"Alright."
Two days later, at 2 PM, the airport.
As soon as Lucy exited the airport, a car pulled up. A man in a black suit nodded at her and asked, "Are you Miss Clark?"
Lucy, pulling her suitcase, approached the car, looking at them in confusion, then nodded.
"We were sent by Mr. Clark to pick you up. He said to take you directly to the plastic surgery hospital. Please get in."
At the hospital entrance, Lucy felt a bit nervous. She met the plastic surgeon Michael had contacted, and after a brief discussion about her wrist scar, she was admitted to a room.
Unexpectedly, at the room door, Lucy saw a delicate-looking woman with a doll-like face.
The woman seemed to have just recovered, still wearing a hospital gown. She looked at Lucy with a hint of surprise.
"It's you?"
Lucy was puzzled. She had never seen this woman before, so...
"Who are you? Have we met?"
The woman hesitated, then touched her face, smiled, and shook her head. "Sorry, I have a friend who looks a bit like you. I mistook you for her."
Lucy looked at her in confusion but nodded and followed the nurse to her room.
After Lucy entered the room, the woman turned and glanced in her direction, squinting slightly, a smile appearing in her eyes.
She was Mia.
After Mia fell off the cliff, her face and body were covered in scars. She thought she was going to die, but Logan found her.
Mia was in a coma for three days in the hospital. When she woke up, she found most of her body and face bandaged. The doctor said her injuries were severe. Though she survived, her face was disfigured.
Domestic plastic surgery couldn't perfectly repair her face.
Logan had no choice but to send Mia to Valeria for surgery. Every day there was agonizing, and the rehabilitation process was painful.
But it was worth it. Her face was now flawless, and no one could recognize her.
Not even Lucy.
This proved her success. As for Margaret, her show was just beginning.
Lucy finished organizing her things and sat on the bed, thinking about the woman she had just met. She felt puzzled.
She had never seen her before, but why did she seem familiar? Had they met somewhere?
The nurse was about to leave when Lucy called out, "Excuse me, wait a moment."
"Is there something you need?"
Lucy hesitated, looking towards the door. "I wanted to ask, who was the woman I just ran into?"
"Oh, her." The nurse smiled professionally. "She was brought here a few months ago. Her surgery was quite complex, and she just recently recovered enough to walk around, but she can't leave the hospital yet."
"By the way, she's your roommate. You'll be staying together for a while, but she should be discharged soon if there are no complications."
"Thank you."
Lucy nodded thoughtfully, thanked the nurse, and lay down to rest.
Unexpectedly, a few hours later, Lucy's phone rang incessantly.
Lucy sat up, annoyed, and answered the call. Colt's voice came through the receiver, "Miss Clark."
Colt's voice sounded like he had aged twenty years overnight, filled with exhaustion.
"Mr. Thomas, what do you need?"
Lucy replied impatiently. She knew Colt was calling about Grace.
But why would she get involved in this mess?
Colt's voice was choked with emotion, pleading, "Miss Clark, Grace has always been close to you. She's been taken by the police. I'm begging you, can you help get her out of the police station?"
Lucy rolled her eyes, her patience wearing thin. "Colt, you know I can't get involved in this. Grace messed up, and now she has to face the consequences."
"But Miss Clark, she's like family to you. Please, just this once," Colt pleaded, his voice breaking.
Lucy sighed, rubbing her temples. "I'll see what I can do, but no promises. And this is the last time, Colt."
"Thank you, Miss Clark. Thank you so much," Colt said, relief evident in his voice.
Lucy hung up, feeling a headache coming on. She had enough on her plate without dealing with Grace's mess. She lay back down, trying to push the thoughts away and get some rest.
