Chapter 160 Isn't this William's car?

William used to be totally freaked out by dogs. And Marjorie? She was scared of the dark. So much so that when William found out Margaret was afraid of the dark, he thought she was Marjorie for a hot minute.

But, it turned out Margaret wasn't Marjorie.

So, the girl standing in front of him now, Angel, could she be Marjorie?

Angel reached out with a shaky hand, touching William's face, gently stroking it. "Yeah, William, it's me, Marjorie!"

Feeling the warmth from the woman in front of him, William felt kinda weird for some reason. He subtly grabbed Angel's hand and gently put it down.

Angel's eyes dimmed a bit, and she went on, "William, I still remember when we got kidnapped by those three dudes and a woman. The scariest guy was missing a front tooth, and they all called him Leon. We were terrified of Leon; he freaked us out every time he came into that dark room."

William's heart started pounding. That matched exactly what had happened back then.

Seeing William's face change, Angel smiled a little and kept going, "One time, he came in with a knife, wanting to cut my hair. William, you tried so hard to protect me, and he slashed your chest, making you bleed a lot. William, do you still have that scar on your chest? And that woman, she was kinda nicer; she often brought us food. One time, she brought a hot dog, and you couldn't eat it and gave it all to me. You told me that if only I ate it, we'd have the strength to escape."

William's eyes grew intense. Only he and Marjorie knew about this stuff back then.

So, Angel was Marjorie!

She was the Marjorie he'd been searching for all these years!

"Marjorie, it's really you," William finally believed and spoke in a low, deep voice.

"William, did you finally recognize me?" Angel's face lit up with a happy smile as she threw herself into William's arms. "This is amazing! I finally see you again! I thought I'd never see you again after falling off that cliff!"

The scent of Angel's perfume hit him, and William slightly furrowed his handsome brows. This scent seemed different from the Marjorie he remembered. Maybe it was because Marjorie had grown up, and there had to be differences from childhood.

William gently pushed Angel away, reminiscing with a few sighs in his tone. "Yeah, you fell off the cliff back then, and I was rescued by people my dad brought. All these years, I've been looking for you, but why did you never contact me? What happened after you fell off the cliff?"

Angel sighed softly, "After falling off the cliff, I was seriously hurt and saved by a hunter. My injuries were really bad, and a foreign philanthropist took me abroad. He healed me and adopted me as his daughter. I've been in Aurorania all this time. After my adoptive dad passed away, I came back to find my real parents. After a lot of twists and turns, I finally found them. Turns out they had no choice but to abandon me back then. All these years, I thought they didn't want me and had abandoned me."

Angel started to sob as she spoke. William handed her a tissue. "Hey, don't cry. Wipe those tears."

"Thanks." Angel took the tissue, her eyes all red as she sniffled.

William spoke softly, "So you went abroad. No wonder I couldn't find you."

"William, have you really been looking for me?" Angel looked up, her eyes filled with tears as she gazed at William.

William nodded, saying quietly, "Yeah."

"I've been looking for you too." Angel's voice had a hint of regret. "I often saw you in the news, but it wasn't until today that I realized you were the William I knew."

After a pause, she added, "It was a blessing in disguise. If I hadn't bumped into your car, we might still be searching for each other."

"By the way, why were those two people chasing you today? How did you owe them money?" William asked.

Those two people looked like thugs. How could Marjorie get mixed up with such people?

Angel lowered her eyes, looking sad. "My grandma is really sick and needs a million dollars for surgery. I couldn't make that much money singing in bars, so I had to borrow from loan sharks."

"I see." William squinted his eyes slightly.

Angel looked up, meeting William's deep gaze, and said, "William, I'll find a way to work hard and repay the money you paid for me."

"No need." William gently shook his head. "That money is nothing. Don't worry about it."

"But how can that be?" Angel insisted.

William checked the time. He remembered Margaret was still waiting for him at the styling salon, so he stood up. "Marjorie, the doctor just checked you, and you're fine. Rest in the hospital for now. I have something to do, so I'll leave first. I'll contact you tomorrow."

As William stood up, Angel's voice suddenly came from behind him. "William."

"What's up, Marjorie?" William stopped and turned back.

Angel spoke pitifully, "I don't want to stay in the hospital. Can you take me home?"

"Where do you live?" Angel's appearance made it hard for William to refuse.

Angel bit her lip and spoke weakly, "I live near Crystal Summit."

Crystal Summit was a bit far. William thought for a moment, calculating the time. He should be able to make it to pick up Margaret and attend the engagement party in the evening.

He took out his phone to call Margaret but found it was out of battery. "Marjorie, can I borrow your phone?" William asked calmly.

Angel took out her phone. "My phone is broken and can't make calls, but I can send a text. William, who do you want to text? I'll send it for you."

William gave Angel Margaret's number and asked her to text Margaret, telling her he had something to do and might be late to pick her up.

"Okay, it's sent." Angel waved her phone in front of William.

"Alright, let's go. I'll take you home." William drove and took Marjorie home.

At the same time, Margaret and Juniper were in a taxi, circling around Crystal Summit. The taxi driver spoke helplessly, "Ladies, where exactly do you want to go?"

Margaret frowned, feeling super uneasy.

Just as she was about to speak, she heard Juniper's surprised voice beside her. "Margaret, isn't that William's car?"
