Chapter 459 Sweetheart
Whenever Michelle thought of William, she couldn't help but smile. He was always in her dreams, and just closing her eyes brought his face to mind.
But she knew how much it hurt to miss someone, which is why she was looking forward to the upcoming birthday party. It was her chance to see William, even if it was just for a chat.
Still, she wanted more than just a chat.
Michelle wanted to see William often, to share experiences, not just stay acquaintances.
Yet, whenever she thought about William being with Margaret, his fiancée, a pang of discomfort hit her. Margaret wasn't a bad person, but love is never simple.
Ever since Mia started visiting Camille's studio for a dress, she was there almost every other day, chatting away. Thanks to Margaret's advice, Camille kept her distance, cautious of any hidden agendas Mia might have.
Today, Mia showed up again, carrying a bunch of fruit.
"Hey, everyone! Great job!" Mia knocked and strolled into the studio with a friendly grin, handing out fruit like she was part of the crew.
"I'm just here to check on the dress and brought some fruit for you all. Don't be shy."
Mia was always upbeat during her visits, and aside from Camille, no one seemed to question her motives. Some designers even thought this client, Anna, was pretty nice.
Except for Camille.
When Mia placed a few oranges on Camille's desk, Camille looked up and smiled, "Ms. Kim, you don't have to bring something every time. You'll spoil us designers."
"No worries," Mia replied, plopping down next to Michael with a warm smile. "I don't have much to do here anyway, and my family is thinking about starting a design company, so I'm just here to pick up a few things."
Camille smiled politely, but she was always on edge when Mia was around, remembering Margaret's warning.
"Learning? Well, aside from our star designer Leo, everyone's work is pretty similar."
Camille sighed, and Mia's eyes lit up with satisfaction. If it weren't for this assistant, she wouldn't have known how to steer the conversation.
Perfect timing.
"Right," Mia said, pretending to have an epiphany. "I heard Leo's the big shot here and the owner. I've been wanting to meet him, but he's never around when I visit."
"Leo's super busy, hardly ever here," Camille sighed.
Mia furrowed her brow, feigning curiosity. "Isn't there a fashion design competition coming up? A friend told me Leo's like a legend in the design world, always snagging awards. Is she gonna be in it this year?"
Camille was focused on her work and hadn't paid attention to Mia's earlier chatter. But the mention of Leo and the competition made her pause. She suspected Mia had an agenda.
She hesitated for a moment, then continued as if nothing had happened. "I have no idea. Leo hardly ever comes to the studio and doesn't share those details with us."
Mia nodded, acting all thoughtful, but kept sneaking glances at Camille.
Staying cautious, Camille peeled one of Mia's oranges and ate a few slices. After a bit, she suddenly said, "Excuse me, I need to hit the restroom."
With that, Camille left, and Mia watched her go, narrowing her eyes a bit.
Camille quickly made her way to the restroom, locked herself in a stall, and texted Margaret: "Margaret, Anna was asking about Leo today and if she's gonna be in the design competition. She said she wants to see your work."
"What should we do next?"
Margaret, chilling at the villa with William, saw Camille's message and smiled. It was only a matter of time before Mia showed her true colors.
"Tell her whatever she wants to know. Make up a dress design if you have to. She just wants to know what I'll be designing for the competition. Camille, I trust you to handle this."
Margaret's reply came quickly, and Camille read it with a confident smile.
Now she knew exactly what to do.
Camille returned to the office, and sure enough, Mia was still there. Seeing Camille, Mia smiled.
"Sorry about that," Camille said casually. "I got a call from Leo while I was in the restroom. She reminded me to bring the design sketches for the competition, so I took a bit longer."
Mia perked up, her eyes lighting up. "You mean Leo's entering the competition?"
Camille nodded seriously. "Well, technically, I always take the designs and dresses to the competition for her. Leo's super busy. But let me tell you, the dress she designed this time is stunning. I just saw the sketches she sent over, and they're gorgeous!"
Camille gave a thumbs-up, glancing at Mia, and said, "Since you like Leo so much, I guess there's no harm in telling you."
Mia nodded eagerly. "I promise I won't tell anyone."
Camille lowered her voice. "The sketch I saw was for a shoulder-padded evening gown, deep red, adorned with pearls and lace, in a medieval vintage style. It's beautiful, just like you described. Why not have your dress designed like that?"
