Chapter 227 Real or Fake

"Marjorie, what the heck are you doing?" William freaked out when he saw Angel suddenly stab herself with a knife and bolted forward to stop her.

But he was too slow. The fruit knife in Angel's hand had already sunk into her body. Blood gushed out instantly.

"William, since you don't love me, I'll let you go." Angel crumpled into William's arms, looking all pale and pitiful. The blood soaked William's white shirt, making it look like a horror show.

Margaret didn't expect Angel to pull such a dramatic stunt to get sympathy. She frowned and said, "William, let me check it out."

Her eyes were glued to the wound on Angel's back.

Margaret stepped closer. "Angel, are those scars on your body really from falling off a cliff?"

Angel gritted her teeth, fighting the pain. "Margaret, don't touch me!"

"William, just let me die!" Angel struggled, trying to grab the fruit knife that had dropped to the ground. William grabbed Angel's hand, shot a look at Peter, and ordered in a serious tone, "Peter, get Marjorie to the hospital!"

Peter had someone carry Angel out, and William followed.

"William," Margaret thought for a moment and suddenly called out to him. William paused, turned back, and said in a deep voice, "Margaret, don't worry, I'll explain everything. But right now, Marjorie's in bad shape, and I can't just leave her."

Margaret asked coldly, "William, are you sure Angel is the Marjorie from back then?"

"Yeah, I'm sure." William didn't hesitate.

"Why are you so sure?" Margaret pressed.

William's eyes darkened. "The kidnap, Angel described it perfectly, even stuff only the two of us knew. If she isn't Marjorie, I can't figure out how she'd know all that."

"Are you certain?" Margaret asked, her face blank.

Earlier, she had seen the scars on Angel's back, and they didn't look like they were from over a decade ago. But with just a quick glance, she couldn't be sure.

"Certain." William nodded and then turned to leave.

Watching William walk away, Margaret squinted her eyes slightly, her gaze complicated.

"Ada, should we head out too?" Anthony asked.

Anthony's voice snapped Margaret out of her thoughts. Margaret turned to look at Anthony and asked seriously, "Anthony, what do you make of all this?"

Anthony frowned. "Angel? That chick is definitely not simple!"

Margaret pressed her lips together, thinking hard. "Do you think she's real or fake?"

"Since you're asking, she must be fake," Anthony replied with a grin.

"You do know me well," Margaret fiddled with her hair and spoke lightly. She was already sure that Angel was a fake. But there were still some things she couldn't figure out.

How could Angel know so much about the kidnapping of William and Marjorie? Even details only Marjorie and William knew, Angel could recount. What the heck was going on here? If Angel was fake, then where was the real Marjorie? Did she really die from falling off the cliff, or was there another hidden truth?

"Anthony, when Marjorie fell off the cliff back then, did you really find nothing about where she went?" Margaret frowned and asked.

"Yeah." Anthony nodded. "Ada, maybe if you dig into it yourself, you would find something."

Margaret squinted her eyes. Anthony's skills were almost as good as hers, just a tad behind. If even Anthony couldn't find anything, this was super weird.

Anthony and Margaret walked out of the Fisher Group's main entrance. Margaret dropped Anthony off at the hotel. "Anthony, thanks for today."

Anthony patted Margaret's shoulder with a cheeky grin. "Ada, no need to be so formal with me."

The next second, Anthony's face turned serious. "But there's something I don't get."

Margaret was taken aback. "What is it?"

"Ada, you knew from the start that Angel would leak the Fisher Group's bid to BPL to frame you. You could've told William earlier to raise the bid. Now, even though you've taken down Angel, the Fisher Group still lost the North Bay project."

"Do you really think I'd let the Fisher Group lose the North Bay project?" Margaret said with a sly smile.

Anthony got excited. "Ada, you got another plan?"

"Of course." Margaret nodded calmly.

Anthony was curious. "Ada, can you give me a hint?"

Margaret kept him in suspense. "You'll find out in a few days."

"I knew it, Ada always has a trick up her sleeve!" Anthony teased.

Margaret headed back to East Garden. Just as she was about to close the door, a familiar figure popped up.

"Lyle?" Margaret was a bit surprised.

"Margaret, I saw the news online. Are you okay?" Lyle's voice was full of concern.

Margaret smiled. "Come in, let's talk."

Lyle walked in, his deep gaze fixed on Margaret. "The internet is saying you leaked the Fisher Group's bid, causing them to lose the North Bay project. It's ridiculous!"

"Do you believe it?" Margaret smirked.

Lyle spoke seriously, "Of course not!"

He thought for a moment and then asked with a smile, "Was it Angel who framed you?"

Margaret nodded. "Yep."

"Do you need my help..."

Before Lyle could finish, Margaret cut him off, "No need, I'll handle this myself."

"By the way, what did you want to see me about?" Margaret asked.

Lyle smiled. "Tomorrow night is the awards ceremony. You'll be there on time, right?"

"If you hadn't mentioned it, I would've almost forgotten." Margaret rubbed her temples, feeling a bit apologetic.

Lyle's eyes darkened. Tomorrow's awards ceremony would be broadcast live by all the major TV stations, and he had made all the preparations. He was going to propose to Margaret in front of the whole world. If Margaret, the leading lady, didn't show up, it would be a disaster.

Thinking of this, Lyle looked directly into Margaret's eyes and said seriously, "Margaret, tomorrow is the most important day of my life. You have to be there. Can I pick you up?"

Margaret smiled. "I promised you I'd go, and I won't break my promise."

"That's good." Lyle breathed a sigh of relief. He checked the time. "Margaret, let's grab dinner. I need to discuss some stuff about Starlight Entertainment with you."

Margaret nodded. "Okay."

As they walked out of the apartment and Margaret was about to get into Lyle's car, Mia suddenly rushed up and pointed at Margaret, yelling, "Margaret, you shameless bitch!"
