Chapter 362 Alden's Indifference

Juniper had been holding Alden's hand tightly, and the moment his fingers moved, she woke up immediately.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw that Alden had finally woken up.

The worry that had been weighing on Juniper's heart for the past few days finally lifted.

She hugged Alden, both excited and happy, her eyes red and tears streaming down. "Alden, You're finally awake! This is so great! I was so worried!"

Alden frowned, feeling intense pain all over his body, especially in his right leg.

As his memory gradually returned, Alden remembered that he had been in class when a massive earthquake struck.

He had organized the students to evacuate the classroom, but he hadn't managed to get out in time and was trapped under the collapsed building.

At that moment, he thought he wouldn't survive and used his remaining consciousness to call Juniper.

When Alden turned his head and saw Juniper beside him, his eyes first showed a moment of surprise, then quickly turned cold. He spoke calmly, "Juniper? What are you doing here?"

Juniper, with tears in her eyes, looked at Alden, feeling happy, excited, and worried, with all sorts of emotions intertwined in her heart.

"I was worried about you! It's so good that you're okay! Alden, don't worry, your right leg will be fine! I'm here." Juniper's words were broken and tearful, almost incoherent. "Alden, it's good that you're awake. You don't know how scared and worried I was when I got your call and learned about the earthquake. Margaret and I rushed to Maplewood to find you, and we finally did!"

Alden lowered his eyes slightly, looking at his heavily bandaged right leg, deliberately averting his gaze to a more empty space. "Why did you save me?"

"What?" Juniper was stunned, looking somewhat at a loss. "What did you say?"

Alden looked past her, hiding a trace of pain in his eyes, and adjusted his emotions, even speaking somewhat coldly, "I said, why did you save me? We broke up, didn't we? We have nothing to do with each other anymore."

He still didn't look Juniper in the eyes and was trying hard to control his emotions.

Juniper's heart felt like it had been thrown from a great height, sinking suddenly to the bottom. She was stunned and spoke with a nasal tone, "No, it's not like that, Alden! I was really worried about you. You were just angry; you didn't really want to break up with me, right? I don't believe you've fallen for someone else; that's just an excuse."

Juniper looked at Alden almost pleadingly.

Alden closed his eyes wearily, forcibly suppressing the urge to hold Juniper, pausing for three or four seconds, his eyes distant. "Didn't I make it clear before? I've fallen for someone else. You don't need to waste your time on me."

"No, that's impossible!" Hearing this, Juniper looked as if she had been struck, her face turning red, and tears streaming down. "We've been together for five years. How could you fall for someone else? It's not possible!"

Margaret and Samuel were sitting on the side, with Samuel's eyes full of pain.

He cursed in her head, 'Alden, that bastard, how could he treat Juniper like this?'

Margaret also frowned deeply. She stepped forward, holding Juniper's shoulder and gently patting her back. "Juniper, don't cry."

After saying that, Margaret looked down at Alden lying on the stretcher and spoke coldly, "Alden, I shouldn't be saying this today, but what you said was really hurtful. You teach in the mountains, and as soon as Juniper heard about the earthquake, she had me come with her to find you overnight. You know the situation in the mountains, with constant aftershocks. We risked our lives to find you, and Juniper almost had an accident! Don't you understand all this? You should know how she feels about you."

Listening to Margaret's words, Alden's heart was in turmoil. He slightly raised his eyes, looking at the distraught Juniper, feeling a moment of softness.

But in the end, he moved his lips and said nothing.

Juniper's parents were right; he was just a poor guy, and couldn't compared to Juniper's family, and couldn't give her happiness.

Moreover, after the earthquake, his right leg was so severely injured that he had no feeling in it, and he might be crippled for life.

He wasn't worthy of Juniper and didn't want to drag her down.

"So what?" Alden sneered, questioning Margaret.

After a pause, Alden continued coldly, "I've already broken up with her. The earthquake was my own problem. I didn't ask her to come, let alone beg her to save me. Even if she cried or almost had an accident, what does that have to do with me? It was her own choice."

Juniper looked up, staring at Alden in shock, unable to believe these words were coming from his mouth.

Margaret also frowned deeply, about to say something, but Samuel couldn't hold back any longer. He stood up angrily, glaring at Alden.

He pointed at Alden, gritting his teeth. "Alden, don't be ungrateful!"

Alden sneered, looking at Samuel with some contempt. "What? Are you going to stand up for Juniper?"

"You!" Samuel's face turned blush with anger, and he raised his fist, but Margaret quickly pulled him back.

Margaret grabbed Samuel's wrist, trying to calm him down. "Calm down, don't hit him. We'll talk about this when we get back to Ravenford."

She had heard Juniper talk about Alden before and always felt there might be more to the story.

Samuel reluctantly sat back down, still fuming.

Juniper, with red-rimmed eyes, wanted to ask Alden for an explanation, but Alden simply closed his eyes, ignoring her.

Seeing Juniper's sadness, Margaret sighed inwardly.

Three hours later, the plane landed, and they left the airport.

On the way to the hospital, Alden kept his eyes closed and didn't say a word to Juniper.

After getting Alden into the ward, Margaret finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Juniper spoke worriedly, "I don't know when Pryce will get here. Alden's leg..."

Samuel couldn't stand it anymore and interrupted, "I think that guy just needs a beating. He said those things to you, Juniper, and you're still worried about him?"

"Stop it," Margaret frowned at Samuel. "Samuel, if you have nothing to do, go back to the company."
