Chapter 424 From Heaven to Hell
"Trust you?" Margaret stepped forward, her eyes blazing with disdain as she glared at Angel. "After everything you've done? Scheming to get close to William, pretending to be some innocent, pitiful woman to gain his sympathy, and even faking late-stage stomach cancer just to get him to propose to you!"
Margaret's voice wasn't loud, but it was firm and resolute.
The crowd erupted in shock, murmuring among themselves:
"What? Angel's late-stage stomach cancer was fake? So, she wasn't sick at all?"
"How could she do that? Faking cancer, isn't that like cursing yourself?"
"You don't get it. If she didn't fake cancer, how else could she gain Mr. Fisher's sympathy? Too bad for her, Mr. Fisher saw right through it. This is what they call 'the hunter becomes the hunted.'"
"Angel really brought this on herself."
"No, it's not true! You're framing me!" Angel retreated step by step, still struggling desperately.
Margaret closed in, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Framing you? Take a look at this."
With that, Margaret played a video.
The video showed Angel and her doctor.
Angel handed the doctor a bank card. "Here's five million dollars. Take it. Once it's done, I'll give you another five million."
The doctor took the card, nodding nervously. "Ms. Walsh, I'm only doing this because of Mr. Phillips. You know if Mr. Fisher finds out, my career is over."
"Don't worry. William loves me. As long as you do this right, once I marry William and become the lady of the Fisher family, you'll benefit too. I'll make you the hospital director. How about that?"
"Thank you, Ms. Walsh!" The doctor replied, satisfied. "I'll arrange it tomorrow. Ms. Walsh will be diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer. But for it to be convincing, you'll have to endure some discomfort."
"No problem!" Angel's eyes gleamed with determination. "As long as it makes William pity and love me, a little suffering is nothing."
The video ended abruptly. Angel stared at the screen in disbelief, her face pale.
How could this happen?
Where did Margaret get this video?
"Well, the evidence is irrefutable now. Angel, do you have anything to say?" Margaret's lips curled into a cold smile. "Are you going to say the video is fake? That I'm framing you? Should I bring the doctor here to confront you?"
At this point, the evidence was undeniable. Even if Angel didn't admit it, it was useless.
She couldn't understand how things had turned out this way.
Today was supposed to be her engagement party with William! It was supposed to be the happiest, most glorious moment of her life!
How could this happen?
Angel trembled, looking at Margaret and William with extreme resentment.
"Angel, all these years, you've schemed to get close to William, even faking cancer to gain his sympathy, all to steal the Fisher Group's business secrets. Is this what you call love for William?" Margaret sneered, her lips curling in mockery.
"No, it's not like that!" Angel cried, tears streaming down her face.
She clung to William's arm, sobbing. "William, listen to me. Jack really did want me to steal the North Bay amusement park project plans, but I didn't do it. I truly love you. Jack threatened me!"
"So, you admit you're not Marjorie?" Margaret looked down at Angel, her tone full of sarcasm.
William pulled his arm away, his handsome face filled with disgust. "You're not Marjorie. You're just the daughter of the kidnappers who took me. So, you know everything that happened back then!"
William's presence radiated a chilling aura, lowering the temperature around him.
Once, he truly believed Angel was Marjorie and even hurt Margaret because of it.
But now he knew Angel was a fraud. She had schemed to impersonate Marjorie, continuously hurting Margaret, and repeatedly trying to steal the Fisher Group's secrets.
No wonder Margaret's first instinct was that Angel wasn't Marjorie.
William had also started to notice inconsistencies.
So, when Margaret told him this, Marjorie was fake, he chose to believe her. Together, they set up this elaborate trap to expose Angel's identity and Jack's plot.
"It's you! Margaret, this is all your doing!" Angel's eyes filled with hatred as she glared at Margaret.
"Today was all your plan! You made me think William was really going to propose, so I'd let my guard down, while you gathered evidence to destroy me!" Angel screamed, "Margaret, this is all your fault!"
"So what if it is?" Margaret's lips curled into a cold smile. "You should have known what would happen. From heaven to hell, it's not a pleasant journey, is it? You brought this on yourself."
Margaret paused, then dropped another bombshell. "You probably didn't expect this, but the plan you gave Jack was fake."
"What? Fake?" Angel was in disbelief.
She had personally taken it from William's study. How could it be fake?
Did William know all along and set her up?
"Of course, it was fake." William's lips curled into a slight smirk, his cold gaze fixed on Jack. "Did you think having Angel steal our North Bay amusement park plans would ruin us? Did you think your actions could sabotage our project?"
Jack felt a wave of unease under William's icy stare.
Could it be...
Sure enough, William's cold voice rang out again. "The plan's contents were fake. So, the expensive materials you bought are worthless."
