Chapter 152 Not Planning to Break Off the Engagement
"Look, the press conference already happened, so there's no point in canceling it," Ulysses grumbled, unwilling to step down at this moment.
He was so close to nailing it. Why did William have to show up now? No way he was backing down.
"William, while you were gone, I took over the Fisher Group, just like your grandpa wanted," Ulysses said.
"Really? Is that what my grandpa wanted?" William's face was all serious, and he let out a cold snort.
"Ulysses, you drugged my grandpa to give him a heart attack and then locked him up. You think I don't know?" William's words hit like a bomb, making everyone buzz.
People started whispering, "Is Bradley really locked up?"
"Wasn't it a heart attack?"
"Would Ulysses really do that? Bradley's raised him up."
"So what? These days, even real dads and sons turn on each other."
Ulysses's face contorted as the chatter reached him. He glared at William, his expression shifting from shock to rage. "William, stop talking crap!"
'How does William know all this? He just got back after being MIA for days. How does he even know about Bradley being locked up?' Ulysses' knuckles turned white, and he got more and more freaked out.
Seeing Ulysses like that, William smirked. "Talking crap? Then let my grandpa tell you himself if I'm lying."
After busting Bradley out, William had rushed to the press conference. By his guess, his guys and Bradley should be here any minute.
Just as William finished talking, the crowd got all riled up again. "Bradley! It's really Bradley!"
At the entrance, two bodyguards in black suits were helping a weak-looking Bradley walk in.
"Grandpa," William said, striding quickly towards the door.
Margaret stood up too, smiling at William. They shared a quick smile and walked to the door, each supporting Bradley from one side. "Grandpa, you okay?"
Bradley looked tired but managed a smile. "I'm fine."
They helped Bradley to the center of the stage.
"Bradley, you..." Ulysses' face went pale the second he saw Bradley.
Ulysses was freaking out. 'Bradley should be out cold in the hospital. Why's he here at the press conference? This is bad!'
"Bradley, why are you here?" Ulysses asked, trying to keep it together.
Bradley snorted. "Of course, you don't want me here."
"How could that be?" Ulysses said, faking a smile, "I'm thrilled to see you're okay."
"Ulysses, you drugged me, lied about me being seriously ill, and locked me up to take over the Fisher Group. Too bad for you, your plans are toast!" Bradley's cold eyes locked onto Ulysses, his words sharp and clear.
"Bradley, I didn't," Ulysses said, stepping back, cold sweat dripping down his face.
"You know what's up," Bradley said, stepping up to the podium and clearing his throat. "I'm calling off today's press conference. William stays as CEO of the Fisher Group. Effective immediately, Ulysses is out as vice president and won't hold any position here anymore. That's it."
In front of everyone, Bradley had already given Ulysses enough face. After all, he had raised Ulysses himself, but in the end, Ulysses had repaid him with ingratitude and malice. Bradley ultimately left Ulysses a way out, merely expelling him from the Fisher Group.
The press conference ended hastily, and reporters swarmed around Bradley, eager to interview him, "Mr. Bradley Fisher, can you explain what you just said about Ulysses confining you?"
"Why would Ulysses, the one you raised, do such a thing?"
"Mr. Bradley Fisher, are you severing your father-son relationship with Ulysses?"
One question after another was thrown at Bradley. William frowned, and Peter immediately stepped forward, understanding the situation. "Sorry, everyone, Mr. Bradley Fisher will not be accepting interviews today."
William and Margaret helped Bradley out of the conference hall. As they stepped out the door, a tall figure hurriedly approached Margaret. Margaret looked up and saw Lyle.
"Margaret, I'm so glad you're okay!" Lyle's eyes sparkled with unusual light as he strode towards Margaret.
Margaret was a bit surprised and asked, "Lyle, why are you at the Fisher Group?"
Lyle walked straight up to Margaret and took her hand. "Margaret, you've been missing for so many days. Do you know how worried I was? I've been looking for you. When I saw you were okay at the press conference, I rushed over. Thank goodness you're alright."
In front of so many people, Lyle's genuine concern made Margaret a bit embarrassed. She discreetly withdrew her hand and smiled faintly. "I'm fine, you don't need to worry."
"Margaret!" Lyle wanted to say more but was interrupted by a cold voice.
William's face visibly darkened. "Lyle, Don't you have anything else to do? This has nothing to do with you. Go back to Starlight Entertainment."
Lyle's face also darkened. "Starlight Entertainment isn't mine, it's..."
Margaret's brow twitched. 'What is Lyle doing? I don't want my true identity to be exposed here!'
Margaret quickly interrupted Lyle, "Lyle, you still haven't given me the autographed photo my friend asked for."
Lyle looked deeply at Margaret. "Come with me to Starlight Entertainment to get it."
Margaret nodded and turned to William. "William, you take Bradley back to rest. I have something to discuss with Lyle."
William's face was very unpleasant. Margaret, however, ignored William and directly pulled Lyle away. There were some things she had to make clear with Lyle.
Under William's cold gaze, Margaret and Lyle left the Fisher Group.
"Margaret, haven't you annulled your engagement with William yet?" Lyle asked eagerly.
Margaret shook her head. "I don't plan to annul the engagement."
